Great place for friend trips or family. Not a lot of variety for food but the chalets are cozy. Conditions were great 2/3 days I was there in March. The fun zone is actually pretty fun for what you d expect, that staff will time you for relays on the bouncy obstacle course (yes, adults allowed)

I had a really fun experience there and was really pleased with the slopes and the activities they had. Nice shuttle service. The only thing is the price, for other activities you have to pay more and the choice of food is not that great. Overall it was a nice experience. Great place to go with the family and friends. I well recommend it if you want a nice family and friends ski hill with nice conditions.

Love this resort in the middle of nowhere. It is older style and rustic, but I love the charm. Friendly staff and clean premises. Just a 15 min drive from Stowe, which offers so many good, bar and brewery options.

Smuggs is a very family oriented mountain. The lodges are pretty basic, and the layout of the mountain is very family friendly, with predominantly beginner terrain (and lots of kids stuff) on the lower mountain, and more advanced terrain on the upper mountain. Parking at the upper mountain is a bit of a bear; we ended up parking at the lower mountain and skiing our way over to the upper mountain. (Warning: getting back to the lower mountain involves a fair amount of skating or pushing.) It is a fun mountain to ski.

UPDATE: I'm impressed that there's a response from someone at the mountain! You just don't see that sort of thing. So, since the reviews are read (and responded to!), I'll add in the following: Unlike ANY other ski resort that I've ever skied -- and I'm now over 120 ski resorts in N. Am. -- Smuggs makes you remove your backpack before boarding a lift. They say they're doing this for safety reasons -- but it's actually a very UNSAFE practice, as (1) my backpack is no longer attached, which means that all of the straps are dangling (and just waiting to catch on something), (2) I'm holding onto ski poles AND backpack while trying to also remove (and read) a trail map from my pocket (do you want to know how many times I nearly dropped a pole or a glove because of that?), and (3) I'm trying to juggle a backpack and ski poles while exiting from the chair, as well. As much as I enjoyed skiing Smuggs, I will not return to that mountain as long as they have the requirement to remove backpacks. Sorry about that. Terrific mountain, terrible (and UNSAFE) policy regarding backpacks.

Best resort in this area. For young, old, starters, pros, families, groups you name it. Affordable and just amazing mountains to ski your life out. You got everything here, skiing, fun zone for kids and a spa with pool and more... Absolutely amazing place to spend your free time!

OK, good things 1st: condo was beautiful and spacious, food at Morse Mountain grill was superb, staff was super helpful and friendly. The
disappointing part was the ski area itself, which looks like it hasn't been updated since the 60s. Ski lifts were 2 chairs only and slow; base lodge was small and cramped. It was stunningly outdated. There is also no true base lodge in the village, which was very surprising, as was the lack of ski racks. It's probably a great place in the summer, but if you're looking for a ski resort on par with Bretton Woods or Mt. Snow or Attitash or Killington, then go elsewhere.

Exceptional ski school for kids and excellent ski patrol. Great restaurants and amazing family atmosphere. Everything is basically in walking distance which makes it easy and relaxing for a destination trip. Staff is super nice everywhere

Skiing was excellent and there is a good variety of terrain for all skill levels. However I am not impressed with the management of this resort. Staff did not seem friendly at all, if anything they were overly rude. The shuttle service is extremely difficult to get ahold of and when you do they do not have any regular routes. We stood in the -5 degree cold for 45 minutes waiting for a shuttle when THREE drove by us and did not stop to pick us up. Lifts are outdated and they are all doubles, makes for a slow ride up to the top.

Amazing scenery. Only reason I give 4 stars is no air conditioning in the living rooms. I'm from the south and I've never seen a place with no air conditioning...thankfully the weather up here is completely different so the fans that are provided make it alright. Cigarettes up here in Vermont at 12$ a pack and 102$ a carton so be prepared. Honestly everything up here is WAY more exspensive that back home in the south.

So much fun! The resort was great, not just the skiing. The shuttle service was amazingly convenient especially while lugging around skis. We stayed at Trailside Highlands, which had great suites, pool access, working internet and a kitchen stocked with everything we needed to cook for our family. We definitely will be staying again!

Our 2 bedroom space was very spacious and the resort with the pools and slides are great for family. Only thing that surprised me was that the room didn't come with soap or shampoo, so note that you'd have to get that yourself.

Loads of fun with the family. Lessons and care for three kids that they loved and learned from. One stop...didn't need to leave the whole time we were there. Minimal line ups despite great conditions.

Had a good vacation here. Didn't spend a lot of time on the property. Was very quiet. Was the first week of fall so a lot of things were closed. Would have been better visiting in summer or winter. In-between seasons are kind of dull.

We visited Smuggs for Spring Break this year and had a truly remarkable experience! Check-in was prompt, staff was friendly, and the shuttle service made our stay extremely convenient. The unit was spacious and the layout was perfect for us. We had a ground floor unit with a patio and we saw plenty of wildlife and tracks in the snow. There was a beautiful cross country ski area right across the street. We found the lift waits to be quick and the snow well-groomed. The trails were awesome and we were there from open to close all week. If you don't plan on dining out for every meal, be sure to pick up groceries on the way in as the local selection is very limited. We can't wait to return to Smuggler's Notch!

Such a fun winter vacation!! We spent our Thanksgiving week in Vermont at Smugglers Notch and we had the best time. We lucked out with the weather and had enough snow for early ski season. We enjoyed sledding, snow shoeing and skiing! The Funzone and swimming pool were also so worth the stay!! The staff was great and very helpful for our stay. The shuttle made getting around the resort super convenient. Every season definitely has something different to offer. Can't wait to get back in the summer with mountain bikes, kayaks and fishing.

My family and I visited early April for the last week of ski season. We had a great experience with the instructors. Kevin M. was great with our children, and Patrick D. helped me gain confidence to be able to ski. The kids can't wait to go back!

A great place to stay, with friendly staff at all levels (even housekeeping!). Lots to do in the local area, from hiking to breweries to restaurants with great food. I prefer summers, but it is a skier's paradise in winter as well.

A great place to take your family while still having challenging runs for the more experienced rider. The lifts are a little slower than some places, but it's a nice break in between. Overall a really great place that I keep coming back to

An amazing family ski resort in Vermont. I went with a family who had been coming for years so I had lessons as it was my first time ever skiing and they were FANTASTIC. Ray was a superb instructor who made me feel instantly relaxed and helped me overcome my fears and actually enjoy skiing by the end of the week! The programme for learning is exceptional and removed from the pro skiing traffic by having an almost fully green (beginner level) mountain to learn on so anyone will feel comfortable here. Similarly, for the pros, there are some really challenging runs over on the bigger 2 mountains (so I'm told!) which has kept my boyfriend's family going back for over 20 years. The food is great for a hearty lunch (chilli bread bowl covered in cheese anyone?!) although quite pricy for dinner but you can self cater in the condos making it cheaper that way. They also do an amazing shuttle service taking you all around the resort to/from the mountains all for free and on this shuttle route is a local bar (brewsters) which has great food and drink reasonably priced with a fun atmosphere.
We also did their snowshoe dinner adventure which was brilliant - thoroughly recommend! Derek, Kate and PK were brilliant guides and they help to cater for all fitness abilities. You take the last chairlift up to the top of Stirling mountain (2nd highest), warm up at the top in a lodge with mint schnapps hot chocolate then go for a snowshoe hike to a frozen lake learning along the way about the landscape as it would be in the summer. After the hike you go back to the lodge for a yummy 3 course dinner (and you can bring your own alcohol up with you again helping with cost). Then you merrily hike your way down the mountain in the dark covered in glowsticks - awesome!
I had a truly fantastic week here enjoying all of the facilities and can't wait to come back again next year. Thank you Smuggs!

This popular ski and summer resort is a great base for viewing the beautiful fall colors. An easy drive to Stowe, Burlington, picturesque villages and covered bridges. Accommodations are well equipped condos with kitchens from studio to 3 bedroom in buildings perched on the mountainside. Well known for great ski program and family fun. Guests with mobility issues may have difficulty with uneven terrain and not all buildings have elevators. Two restaurants on site and a Fun Zone for kids. No main gathering building. Activities during high season; limited schedule off season.

I first visited this 20 years ago. Since then, it's only gotten better. Great views, heated pools, fun zones, great access to attractions nearby; the list goes on. The staff is so nice, and the tools are great! While it can be hard to find the first time if it's dark, it's well worth the drive! Recommendation: come during late September/early October. The leaves are to die for!

Great 5 day stay with the young grandkids. Plenty of pools to splash around in. Many resort kids activities if you want to spend the extra money, or plenty to see and explore close by. Staff was friendly and helpful, only knock was the unit was still being cleaned when we arrived at the normal check in time, even though we were suppose to be able to check in early.

I wasn't expecting all the extra charges when I exchanged vacations from my usual Shawnee Poconos week. We are so far away from everything which would be great if we didn't have our grands ages 17, 11 & 5.
