An amazing family ski resort in Vermont. I went with a family who had been coming for years so I had lessons as it was my first time ever skiing and they were FANTASTIC. Ray was a superb instructor who made me feel instantly relaxed and helped me overcome my fears and actually enjoy skiing by the end of the week! The programme for learning is exceptional and removed from the pro skiing traffic by having an almost fully green (beginner level) mountain to learn on so anyone will feel comfortable here. Similarly, for the pros, there are some really challenging runs over on the bigger 2 mountains (so I'm told!) which has kept my boyfriend's family going back for over 20 years. The food is great for a hearty lunch (chilli bread bowl covered in cheese anyone?!) although quite pricy for dinner but you can self cater in the condos making it cheaper that way. They also do an amazing shuttle service taking you all around the resort to/from the mountains all for free and on this shuttle route is a local bar (brewsters) which has great food and drink reasonably priced with a fun atmosphere.
We also did their snowshoe dinner adventure which was brilliant - thoroughly recommend! Derek, Kate and PK were brilliant guides and they help to cater for all fitness abilities. You take the last chairlift up to the top of Stirling mountain (2nd highest), warm up at the top in a lodge with mint schnapps hot chocolate then go for a snowshoe hike to a frozen lake learning along the way about the landscape as it would be in the summer. After the hike you go back to the lodge for a yummy 3 course dinner (and you can bring your own alcohol up with you again helping with cost). Then you merrily hike your way down the mountain in the dark covered in glowsticks - awesome!
I had a truly fantastic week here enjoying all of the facilities and can't wait to come back again next year. Thank you Smuggs!
