This organization is a true Blessing to those Veterans who receive the highly trained service dogs as well as for those who contribute to the Mission of training the dogs, volunteering in various capacities and those on the Board of Directors who lead and manage the organization. Veterans of our Armed Forces have sacrificed so much to ensure our freedoms. Smoky Mountain Service Dogs provides mobility assistance service dogs to help mitigate the disabilities of their recipients. It is a privilege to be a volunteer of this organization.

Very credible charity. Their tax returns are available online... Ninety-six cents out of every dollar contributed to this organization is used for the acquisition, care and training of service dogs which are given at no charge to disabled veterans.
SMSD provides highly trained mobility assistance service dogs to veterans with disabilities. These dogs are trained by talented dedicated trainers and that training is supported by over 60 active volunteers and led by a committed board of directors.
Don't bother with these people unless they can physically see your disability. My husband has moderate to severe PTSD and no physical disability, and we were turned away. You wouldn't believe how many times my husband and I have heard the word "NO" from these "non-profits" claiming they help disabled veterans, when really they only help physically disabled veterans. It's sad that so many veterans who only suffer from PTSD get told there is no help for you. We've heard all the excuses, "you don't look disabled", "you don't look old enough to have served 4 deployments and be disabled", "you only have PTSD" the list goes on. Thanks for not helping.

our trainer had relocated and Had recommended this place to us I can say from the exchange of emails the person conducting the email replies was very rude, very presumptuous and was absolutely unprofessional in the way they handled it.
And if they conduct themselves in that manner through correspondence , I shutter to think how they treat the dogs they train.
It is an honor to be a part of this organization! What they do for the people they serve is life changing not only for the recipient but for the workers as well. I am sure I am speaking for all that are a part of Smokey Mountain Service Dogs, we give a piece of our hearts every time a dog is placed and are blessed every time.
