Service was bad last year. To fix a software problem, which was caused by an update, SMA took more than 3 months.
From the bad service does not even been. If a problem there's no more help.

I have had 2 SMA Sunny Tripower inverters for four years in Jamaica. In this time I have had 3 replaced and a fourth has just died. Each time it has taken a long time to have these replaced under warranty. At this point my installer has suggested to abandon these SMA inverters, which are still under warranty, and replace them with another brand, since I lose too much in down time and duties and taxes with the replacements. Very disappointed.
Finally got rid of these SMA inverters! Still under warranty! VERY disappointed

ARROGANT; not customer-oriented; this is my personal experience;
the customer service is ultra-bad; even if the products are ok,
what good is it for you if, for example, in case of a defect the communication is only ABLEAN.
Buy elsewhere / what else. There are alternatives with a better price-performance ratio

I have 3 inverters from SMA. All installed in 2016. 2 have not had problems. However, the largest has been replaced 3 times. We have waited approximately 3 weeks so far on our 4th inverter. It is a Sunny Boy SB7.7-1sp-us-40 and has failed the last two times during peak production causing us to loose a significant amount of production. Reputable installer. Says they have had problems recently and are trying to find other inverter companies to use. I emailed SMA a week ago as of 8/25/2020 and still have not had a response. Very frustrated.

In 2017, I acquired a photovoltaic system with an SMA inverter and the SMA Home Manager 2.0. The system works so far perfectly. However, the full potential of the system can not be exhausted, as the Home Manager can only be coupled with Edimax radio-controlled sockets. And the Edimax radio-controlled sockets are anything but an asset (to the relevant experience reports can be referred in this regard).

Since I prefer TP-Link radio sockets or use in my household, I turned directly to SMA and asked if it is intended in the near future to extend the compatibility of the Home Manager with additional radio sockets software update or Edimax the only compatible can stay.

Then I got the following answer: "... thank you for contacting us and we will gladly answer your request.

We are currently in service no further information. Please contact your dealer.

Thank you and best regards ... "

I have never received such an unimportant answer. One wonders what qualification the staff has in the service area. Too high requirements scent on it anyhow can not be asked. How should the retailer answer this question to me if even the manufacturer does not know the answer?

Due to the lack of compatibility, I would have rated SMA with three stars. Paired with the aforementioned answer from the manufacturer, unfortunately, I can not award more than one star. A subsequent revaluation I expressly before me.

The service of SMA is underground. On the hotline you wait as an installer for more than half an hour, complaints are after a waiting time of several days or even not processed. This behavior is absolutely unworthy of a market leader.
