Slumber Valley Campground Reviews

The first impression seemed favorable. It appeared to be a quiet, family oriented campgrounds. As time went by (we committed to staying 4 months full-time), we had a couple horror/issues with the owners. In addition, speaking with other campers - both seasonal & occasional campers - there were other horror stories from the owners more concerned about their picnic tables rather than notifying campers to evacuate because the creek was going to flood where the campers stood - the campers / RV's were destroyed in the flood (during our stay, the creek did overflow the bank in some places but the owners didn't contact us for any concerns) to giving a discount which was paid in full at the beginning of the stay and then trying to charge an entire month's fee for an additional 7 days/1 week stay plus overcharging on the electric and saying a canceled check was not proof of payment. We also, on several occasions, had campground employees come up and look at what we had outside (I had the car and my husband was there and caught them in the act). The restrooms were not serviced very well. In the 4 months that we were there the light in the women's shower worked twice so showering in the dark was the norm. Add in the fact that it was normal for debris to be on the floor, showering had to include flip flops and/or a floor mat to safely bathe. On a couple occasions, the campground hosted private parties that had loud booming music that literally vibrated our RV till well after midnight (1 - 2 am). Those times were not a pleasant experience. When campers were loud, there was no consequences for disturbing the peace. The rules they had in writing were ignored and the owners made up rules as it suited them. We will never stay there again. If you're a full-time RVer or even a seasonal camper, I would not recommend this campground and if you do, carefully check your bills as they have a tendency to double charge.

This is among the best places to RV we have been to this year! Highly recommend

So much fun. Also found a gold ring there so if you lost it I gave it to the people in the office. Do what's right people.

Loved it. This was quite but fun. The waterfall is beautiful..the camp sites are huge. There's a lot to do. Bathrooms are clean and showers are good.

Love Slumber Valley BUT .... been going there for 20 years. Just spent the weekend there in the Pines 1-2-3 to be exact. Sites A & B had a rowdy crowd. Friday night music very loud until 2:30 am. Called the office . No answer.
Next morning I went to office and told the girl working there what happened. She said she will alert security so they will tell them. Hence Saturday night. Music very loud until midnight along with fireworks. Yelling, screaming going on until 3:30 am. I called the office at 10:54 with no answer. I left a message... nothing.
6 of us got no sleep. Told the girl in office this morning. She said she will flag them so if they come back they will be warned.
I was very disappointed in the way it was handled and availability of someone after the office closes at 9 pm.

Great little gem of a family campgrounds, nice stream that runs through it too, good layout and friendly staff.

Always have a great time here, this year it was a bit hot during our stay.

Good place to cool off on a hot day at there swimming pool and a great view of the meshoppen creek falls

This is a great place to camp with beautiful views of mountains and streams. They have a few shower stations and bathrooms. There are a couple of playgrounds and even an in-ground pool. I'll be staying there again this summer.

slumber valley would be fantastic if they had a better playground and maybe a jumping pillow. They have the room for them.

We absolutely LOVE slumber valley! I e been camping here since a child and now bring my children. So family orientated and just genuinely great place!

I was there for 3 months I was over charged I was paying over $1,000 for 4 adults as if where I am I am paying 650 now not to mention where I am now has free sewage hook up. They removed my camp site off the list for sewage pumping and didnt even bother to call and after I had just paid to be pumped for a month they said I couldn't be pumped because some water would leak out from time to time. After I had already been there for about 2 months. I didnt like the first impression of the owners this is okay if you want to stay a weekend but not for months at a time

Excellent! Friendly staff! Clean grounds! Even cleaner bathrooms! If your looking for a great camping experience look no further!

I ve been going here since I could barely walk. By far my favorite camp ground very near and dear to my family.

In 2012 my wife and I cycled coast to coast across the US, we stayed at dozens of different campsites along the way. This one stood head and shoulders above the rest; stunning location, friendly staff and good price.

Been coming for years some of my best memories were made at this campground.

This was our second time staying at Slumber Valley. A great experience! Great, friendly staff, nice sized sites, and the waterfall is beautiful.

I will NOT recommend this place! We just bought an RV and this is our first time on campground place, We stayed there for 3months and its a bad experience! Every month 2weeks before our due date the owner banging our door and asking us if we stay another month and reminding the monthly bill to pay! And make sure to take note on your meter once you get there because they will not show to you the meter computation and they will charge you more than your actual bill!! They also charge extra $15 everytime they pump your sewage and they will not cut your lawn in front of your RV they will ask you to do it by yourself! We been to Ohio KOA campground last month on our 2nd destination and now in Texas Resort campground and I can tell theres a lot more difference on place, the staff and the owners and only 1 word I can say about KOA & Texas Resort campground they have "HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY" and the place is very neat and peace compare to Slumber valley!!

It's Very Nice Place, Very Nice Ground's Beautiful Falls, Quite & Friendly People, @other Sites& Private Residence, But Google (sry) took us out of Messhoppen & right pass it, They could used Bigger Sign, there's a few rds, w/ Slumber Valley

Let s start by saying the initial impression was great the staff was very nice. And then you start dealing with the actual owners thy are something else. Everything little thing thy try and charge for right down to leaving early when thy where fully aware and did not say anything about a charge.then i paid for my camper to get pumped and thy did not open my second grey water tank the water started to back up on me and I told them that thy did not empty the second tank and thy still charged me 15$ to do what I had already paid for and thy neglected do. I had spoken with a few other campers and we all had the same problem with getting billed extra our double for the electric .If you are just going to stay for a night our two not a bad place but if you are going to be staying for a prolonged period of time it just gets frustrating dealing with the money hungry owners. Do your self a favor and look for a different place to stay! And the last thing if you do decide to stay for a few weeks make sure to write down your electric meter and you bring your weed eater because thy won t do the up keep around your camper my grass was 3 feet tall at the end of my stay very Unnecessary!

Love it here. Nestled in the Endless Mountains. There are a lot of amenities but you can make some great memories camping.

Great campground. We always enjoy coming to Slumber Valley in the summer to escape the the big city. Lots of activities for the kids and parents, and great facilities. We really liked the waterfall and swimming pool to cool off on the hot summer days. Staff was also very nice and welcoming when we came. We'll be back again - thank you!!

I've been coming to this campground since I was a kid. Now, I have my own family and extended family going every chance we get!!! Its clean, beautiful scenery, very polite staff and the other campers are very nice and friendly as well. We will be coming here for lots of years and many memories to come

Slumber Valley is an absolutely great place to bring your family!! Plenty to do for the kids, whether it's the pool, playground, creek or just riding their bikes. Very safe environment with friendly people and staff!! Highly recommended!!

If camping is your thing, then this place is a must for your family. Love coming here

Best campground in pa hands down I've been coming here for 10+ years and now my kid has been here multiple times in his 4 years and as soon as we leave he is bugging to go back!

Best camping year after year! Here at the junction of the river and creek, hear waterfalls All Night Long!! The boys love fishing, swimming, & rope swinging into the river.. we love them disconnecting from the web & games and hanging out together, wandering around camp, we know they're safe! The whole staff is so exceptionally nice & helpful, the rates are fantastic, too! Love, love this place. We leave here a whole lot closer as a Family!
