We are a leading non-state degree awarding institute approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the Universities Act. We are members of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), as well as the International Association of Universities (IAU). We are also the first Sri Lankan institute to be accredited by the Institution of Engineering & Technology, UK.

SLIIT was established in 1999. We opened our doors to 400 students in Metro Campus in Colombo. Currently, we offer both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and accommodate over 9000 students, including international students from various regions in the world. More than 9000 alumni have graduated from our faculties. We take great pride in producing graduates who make meaningful contributions to their communities and professions

SLIIT attracts the largest share of private higher education students in Sri Lanka and our courses are designed to equip graduates to succeed in contemporary workplaces with their exposure to practical (lab, internship etc) as well as the classroom environment. According to the graduate Tracer Studies of 2016/2017, nearly 90% of our Bachelor degree graduates find full-time employment within six months of course completion. I read for an Electronic Engineering degree at SLIIT. The facilities are great. The labs have all the required facilities to research and develop and is free to use. All the batch mates who passed out are now working. Worth every penny spent. The best private university in the country.

In 2001 SLIIT became a degree awarding institute approved by the University Grants Commission under the Universities Act. Faculty of Computing
The origins of the Faculty of Computing goes back to the formation of SLIIT in 1999, when it introduced degrees in information technology. It has since expanded to cover several more areas of computing such as computer systems, networks, information systems, software engineering, interactive media and cyber security with most programs accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology.

The Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management (CAHM) was started in 2012 as a joint venture with SLIIT and William Angliss Institute to proved a degree in tourism and hospitality management.

School of Architecture
The School of Architecture was established in 2015 offering BSc degrees programs in architecture and quantity surveying from the Liverpool John Moores University.

Modern computer lab facilities, lectures halls, updated curriculum and qualified lectures Entire calendar year is prescheduled for two semesters, regular exams, vacations and repeat exams.
