Fish & chips was quite nice but got charged extra for requesting some tomato sauce without telling me first.

Food was great. Had the wagyu burger - It was great and not too over packed. Also had seafood pasta which was a special - it was great too, and had the pumpkin ravioli - good too. Staff was friendly and the prices are reasonable.

Ever felt like all of your friends are hanging out without you when you discover a brunch gem in your own back yard? Well...I felt very close to that. Had I any friends in my zip code that is. Never the less, the epic case of "living under a rock" was in full swing one Saturday morning as a group of us were getting ready to hit up the lake for some wine touring.

Good food at reasonable prices. High ceiling make it noisy.

Roof top bar. Friday crowded. Loud music.
Very busy. Don't expect warm hospitality.

It's a bar... Nothing special but the top can be rented for parties.

Tasty food and a nice place to eat. We found it via the Google search and weren t disappointed. The beer is also good there.

Great to grab a beer from 4 to 6 during happy hour. You also get $5 basics. Would not recommend the food!

Myself and my three friends were really looking forward to a lunchtime catch-up, welcoming our friend back from her trip overseas. We decided Slate was a good option as it was close to work, and none of us had ever had an issue there before.
However, we specifically asked the waitress whether the risotto was tomato-based, and we were assured it was not. FORTY minutes later (and we are already late for work at this stage) our meals arrive, and the risotto base is red.
We then troubled the waitress (purple hair in dread-locks) for some parmesan cheese (the natural and obvious accompaniment to risotto), another waitress asks us if we are enjoying our meal to which we reply "we're just waiting on some parmesan". During this time, the risotto is being begrudgingly eaten. A mere 30 seconds later the first waitress comes over and says words to the effect of, "the parmesan is coming from downstairs, there is no point asking another waitress, it's not going to come any faster". We were sitting there absolutely dumbfounded whilst one last bite of the risotto was eaten as the rudeness of this statement dawned on all of us. One of us went up to the counter and explained the situation and returned the meal, whilst she was walking back to the table Dread-locks was mouthing off and slammed the sliding door which separates the outside area from the bar area.
Another waitress (one we hadn't encountered at this point) came over and said she thought the issue was the risotto and wanted to clarify some points, she said "there is absolutely no tomato in the risotto" and our response was "well, the attitude was not warranted" to which the waitress responded "...from both sides" as she was storming off.
We usually like coming to Slate, but the attitude towards us today was abysmal and the only explanation from the staff was that "it's hot and we are busy". Suffice to say we will not be dining at this establishment for a while.

Awesome TGIF bar. Corporate crowd. Good food. Well priced drinks. Late night DJ turned the tempo up perfectly once the suits moved on. Loved it

Food was great although didn't like the flower petals covering the deconstructed tart. Service was excellent.

A good upstairs bar with a well priced happy hour, great location, well laid out and warm even in cold weather and great staff. Perfect for an after work beer on a Thursday

Perfect for after work drinks in the city with live music and free snacks like shoestring fries given to each table.

Burger was passable; beers on tap weren t the best selection. The place feels more like a business lunch venue than anything else.

This place is nice without being overly impressive. The food is good and their express lunch is commendable, but my personal opinion is that there are better places to go and eat with a slightly better lunch menu in the CBD.

Loud, loud, and very loud. A favourite of the TGIF crowd, but drinks arent that cheap even during happy hour.

Good place for a drink. Bar staff are average- but good ppl. It's a good setup. Its just a bit beige, and the interior is boring ....lucky for the outdoor area.

Had a great experience with these guys when I had an event here 2 weeks ago on a Friday evening. Not all of my 30 guests could make it but we all enjoyed the atmosphere, the drinks and the music was very good too! The person that helped me organised it was very friendly and responsive. Highly recommend it! I will be getting my friends to have their next function here too.

Great place after work for drinks, large and open. Nice finger food. Cheap lunch spot also.

They are friendly and the gentleman in charge remembered us from two days previous and our original order. Just bussing . A must to visit dor food.

Fantastic vibe and great service! I always enjoy coming here, the bar staff are all so friendly and accommodating, plus great music and delicious food! I come here for drinks but ate here for the first time and was really impressed with the creative and very tasty vegetarian options! I could easily make this a regular thing!

Absolute marvelous lunch had. Great selection on the menu. Of the five people I went with, none had a negative thing to say. Price representative of the quality of the food. I will be coming back.
