Skycroft is located on a beautiful, manicured property with fun activities for the kids such as the pool , ropes course and cafe. This place has really good , healthy choice food for the price and you will not go hungry. Those who complained about the food... need to know they are not at a 5 star restaurant or they are not going to serve you fried, greasy food . Kids seem to all have a really nice time.

This is a nice, spacious place for a Conference, Retreat or Educational Gathering. There are lodging rooms, meeting rooms, indoor outdoor equipment including a zip lining course. Meals are served and the food is plentiful, delicious and not fancy. Special treat was a campfire! Have a great Retreat here.
The food isn t good to be honest, the beds are okay. But the paintball, pool, hiking paths, and zip line are worth it. I would say for those things they are redeemed.
Our men's group goes to Skycroft every fall for our men's retreat. The rooms are spartan but clean and reasonably priced. Plenty of food, nothing fancy, but you won't go away hungry. Lots of activities on the mountain and nearby (I recommend Antietam and Harper's Ferry).
My son went to outdoor ED for 1 night and the dorm room was infested with bed bugs. This ridiculous, MCPS needs to find another outdoor Ed location. He was bitten up badly by bed bugs and spiders. They opened the mattress and noticed the infestation of bed bugs. I would not recommend sending your child to this campsite.
Food is pretty bad cabins have lots of bugs and the sheets are full of stains. When you eat they make who watch what is called the WASTE Bucket to show how food you wasted but seriously if you're paying money to stay here at least dont show the customers 17 week old spoiled milk. As a student here for outdoor ed you had to Have KP duty where you're basically a slave for 30 minutes. i saw that they were microwaving pizza and Tater tots. What a shame. Will never come and suggest you to never go. Terrible experience.
HORRIBLE! I got one smore and the menu sucks. The food looks like dog vomit. They drag me out at 6:30 in the morning just to hike 100 more miles. The cabins suck and every one snores. Even worse the toilets suck and are disgusting along with the showers. There is an infestation of lady bugs. The staff are idiots and make you go into the thorn bushes. All the games are tiring and boring. I hate the place I don't recommend it at all.
Perfect location for a retreat. The plumbing in the guest rooms needs some serious attention: constantly running toilets in many rooms and at least one shower doesnt work at all. Perhaps it is time to renovate the rooms or tear down and start over although I now its costly. Conference space is much newer and very nice.
My husband went on a Men's Retreat with others from Mount Airy Bible Church & my husband had a good time, nice surroundings, activities, group events and a good place for fellowship and family friendly, people friendly. I'm definitely happy he decided to go. Any place that brings out your inner joy and closer to Jesus is a good place for anyone in my opinion.
Skycroft is a great retreat center for groups in the DMV area on a budget. It's 1.25 hours to the north of Washington, D.C. in Maryland and it's actually on Google Maps and easy to find.
It's an entire campus with several buildings. There are a few buildings for lodging. They are not cabins, but set up more like a motel with rooms with nice beds and a shower. They main center houses the dining hall and conference rooms. Next to that is a building with a coffee shop and the gym is behind this with a basketball and volleyball courts. On the property there's zip lining. If you're a runner, there are many trails to run (or hike).
It's a great place for families and your kids will love all the activities!
The only downside is the food (unless you already know retreat center food is the worst). It's better than awful, but still nothing to write home about (and everything they make is sooooo unhealthy). They do have a salad bar and chocolate milk, so #winning.
I attended a retreat with my church at Skycroft. It was a relaxing and inspirational weekend. The grounds were snow covered and very pretty. The dining hall served good food, an improvement from last year. I loved the mac n cheese balls and the soup. The staff is very friendly. I recommend to groups, individuals, and couples who want a peaceful getaway. Thank you, Skycroft Conference Center!
Skycroft is a great place for your church to have a retreat. Whether your group is as small as a dozen people or as large as a couple hundred, they are equipped to handle it. Sleeping arrangements range from cabins with bunks for 10-20 people to "hotel rooms" for 2-4 people. The food is cafeteria-style, all you can eat, & it serves some of the better cafeteria food around. There are meeting rooms to accommodate groups of almost any size up to the aforementioned couple hundred people. You can't ask for a prettier setting in the mountains of western Maryland & it's convenient - Within an hour of both Baltimore & Washington DC. I've been going to Skycroft for almost 40 years & have never been disappointed with it. All in all, it's a beautiful conference center run by extremely competent people at a very reasonable price. How can you ask for more?
Amazing center. Very accommodating and excellent service and staff. I came here for a retreat hosted by my University and I could not complain about the place. It also has an amazing view and the sunrises are priceless.
Beware of their cancellation policy, especially for large groups. They have no flexibility on your deposit. If anything happens to cause a change in plans (even if it's the next couple days), consider your money gone. Lost over $1200. For a Christian organization you would think they could be more gracious and understanding.
Nice place, secluded and quiet; perfect for our Couples Ministry Retreat. Spacious dining room and clean cabins with very confortable bunk beds and clean and cozy linens. No bugs. Food was abundant and served on time. We appreciated the fire pits in a cold Friday night with guitars and ... We want to go back in Summer! It would be a good idea to provide everyone with a site map (or signs in the paths) to find the cabins in the dark but the big TV monitor shows the map frequently, that helps.
