I came for an annual skin check up. Later, I got a bill for my appointment because my referall was expired. I was not aware of the duration of the referral. Since, I went to see Dr. Laju Mathew more than once with my original referral I did not think it had been expired. The doctor s office did not inform me out of courtesy about the referral being expired.
As an international student who recently moved to US I do not think the system is transparent enough.

So I called to schedule an appointment. Woman who picked up super nice. Now I have active acne and acne scarring... one appointment should be enough. So if I came in and spoke to Dr. Margarita lolis they'd bill my insurance company and I'd have to pay the copay... ok fine great, then if in the same consultation she address my scaring they'd charge me an additional $125. Are you joking so I'd have to pay $135 to speak to you. This policy is a joke, and I'm not sure who's paying this and getting ripped off but that's a solid strong no from me. Guess you wont be getting the hundreds of not thousands from me. On to the next.

So many different doctors here- in and out. I liked two doctors I had here, but they both moved on to different practices. I won t be going back there ever again. I always felt pressured to buy their cosmetic things (face wash, serum, retinol) instead of the cheaper ones my insurance covered. Today they offered me a complementary chemical peel for scarring I had on my arms, from a reaction I had to an ointment. I came to the appointment to then be told the chemical peel is a waste and I should use a laser for $100/5x. When I declined, the doctor wrote the name of bleaching creme on a paper towel I could order off Amazon. When I started to ask questions about this BLEACHING creme (cause idk sounds like cancer?), he told me he had other patients waiting and he must go.

So many different staff members and doctors- no consistency obviously means something. I won t be back.

I have had a wonderful experience at SLSS. Dr. Goldberg is very knowledgeable and has recommended treatment to help meet my specific needs. He is very honest and gives truly realistic feedback. The staff has been very helpful with answering questions and making me feel comfortable. I trust and reccomend Dr. Goldberg and staff to anyone seeking dermatological care.

Unfortunately never got to see this doctor. Made appointment through Zocdoc for Feb 5th. I received a confirmation email of the appt days before and then on a day of appt. Something inside me made me think..let me call them to double-confirm. I called and lady told me she is not available at this time and appt is for March 5! Of course I have a proof of confirmation and all but it didn't matter.. what would happen if I wouldn't call? I had a very important matter and was really looking forward to this visit. I would appreciate if they would handle the situation differently, in this case I will never go there..

My appointment was at the Hackensack University Medical Plaza. It was easy to get an appointment, and everyone at the office was quite friendly and helpful. Dr. Lolis was very professional yet also compassionate. I appreciate her patience and conservative approach to treatment. I would recommend Dr. Lolis without any hesitation.

I recently moved to Atlanta, Georgia and still travel back to NJ to see Dr. Goldberg. I have been a patient of Dr. Goldberg's for over 25 years. I may have to wait a bit, but it's worth it. His expertise has been instrumental in diagnosing and stopping small spots in their tracks that could have become serious issues. Professional, courteous and caring .

I'm someone who believes in basing physician reviews on outcomes. However, my experience this time with the SLSS Manhattan office fell so far below my expectations I felt I should write about it.

I showed up for my scheduled appointment and pre-paid for the service as usual. When the doctor came in to perform the treatment, I noticed she was using a different machine than before. When I pointed this out, she realized she was about to perform the wrong treatment (I have darker skin that cannot tolerate most lasers due to the risk of irregular pigmentation). I was surprised and worried that this wasn t immediately caught, but I decided to wait and receive the appropriate treatment I was originally scheduled for. Finally it turns out they no longer keep the machine that was needed in the Manhattan office; they suggested I go to their New Jersey location. If anyone has a busy schedule like mine, you know how hard it is to get time off during the day. I was a little astonished there was hardly an apology made for the amount of time I wasted, but in any case I went ahead and booked the appointment to avoid further delays.

The next day when I showed up for my appointment in New Jersey, they only had a nurse practitioner available; I had paid the increased rate to see the doctor. The NP was very pleasant and professional, and she assured me the difference in payment would be reimbursed to me. A few weeks later when I still hadn t received the reimbursement, I attempted to contact the Manhattan office. The staff I spoke to was incredibly rude, stating she had no information about the reimbursement. I tried to explain the situation, and she continued to cut me off, stating I would have to wait the following week to be in touch with the doctor who was out of town--she had no further information and refused to help me. I have never before been treated like this in a medical office. The whole experience has left me shocked and disgusted.

Needless to say when it comes to actual outcomes, I have never had any negative results or complications, but I have also not had any noticeable positive results.

Feel rushed at visits and don t like that you cannot reach a dermatologist directly or more easily without jumping through hoops of speaking to numerous receptionists and leaving multiple messages. I have been trying to speak to my dermatologist for a almost a week. If I am going to spend that much money at my visits I should at least be able to reach my dermatologist when I have a question.
