About SIW Internationale Vrijwilligersprojecten
SIW Internationale Vrijwilligersprojecten: Empowering Communities through Volunteerism
SIW Internationale Vrijwilligersprojecten is a non-profit organization that has been empowering communities through volunteerism since 1953. With over 65 years of experience, SIW has become one of the leading volunteer organizations in the Netherlands, providing opportunities for individuals to make a positive impact on society while gaining valuable skills and experiences.
At SIW, we believe that volunteering is not just about giving back to society but also about personal growth and development. Our programs are designed to provide volunteers with meaningful experiences that challenge them both personally and professionally. We offer a wide range of projects in various fields such as social work, environmental conservation, education, and cultural exchange.
Our mission is to promote intercultural understanding and global citizenship by facilitating cross-cultural exchanges between volunteers from different countries. We believe that by bringing people from diverse backgrounds together, we can create a more tolerant and inclusive world.
Our Projects
We offer projects in over 20 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Our projects are carefully selected based on their impact on local communities and their alignment with our values of sustainability and social justice.
In Europe, we have projects in countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain where volunteers can work on environmental conservation or community development initiatives. In Asia we have programs in India where volunteers can teach English or work with children from underprivileged backgrounds; In Nepal where they can help rebuild schools damaged by earthquakes; In Thailand where they can work with elephants at an elephant sanctuary; And many more!
In Africa we have programs in Ghana where volunteers can teach English or help build schools; In Kenya where they can assist with wildlife conservation efforts; And South Africa where they can support community development initiatives.
In Latin America we have programs in Costa Rica which focuses on environmental conservation efforts like reforestation or sea turtle protection; Peru which offers opportunities for teaching English or working at an orphanage; Ecuador which provides medical assistance to indigenous communities living deep within the Amazon rainforest.
