I'd never eaten French cuisine before, now I believe I won't be able to try other restaurants after being spoilt by QSF. However, the real rave review comes from my partner, who after living and working in France for a year, has said she's never had food so good. Top notch.

We came here for the Simply Squiffy deal on a Sunday either between our engagement and wedding or just after our wedding approximately 16-17 years ago and returned for the same deal for our anniversary this weekend because we had great memories (We currently live in Yorkshire).

We had the Mexican fishcake and pea soup followed by rump steaks with a bottle of wine each and then shared a cheese platter. The food was wonderful and service was very good, attentive but not too much. We would definitely recommend it and would love to go back - maybe next time we won't leave it so long!

Absolutely spectacular food. Frogs legs and escargot, prepared and cooked to perfection. Torn between choices across the board, from starters to deserts. Pleasant and professional staff. Can't wait for my next opportunity to visit.

A superb, cozy restaurant with a focus on fish dishes. Service was excellent, food very good (the muscles were excellent!). It's a short walk out the centre of the city, but worth it. Just a note, it's not a large restaurant so I would suggest booking ahead if you plan to visit, which you can do via their website - nice touch!

Have visited several times this year. Service is excellent and informed. Food is always top notch. Only restaurant I would recommend in Lancaster. Only not to my veggie/ vegan friends as I can overlook the lobsters! I do wonder if they are necessary. The restaurant would in no way be diminished without them.

I went here maybe 2 years ago, and they offered a Chargrilled Steak I think it was probably one of the best steaks I had ever had, i think you will almost certianly agree i would go again based on that performance,

okay those who complain about the price is expensive, but really it is not for what you are getting its a great place to take either a completely new place to try for a first date or your wife for a well overdue romantic meal.

It was amazing, I hope they enjoyed the large tip

I heartily recommend this restaurant. The best in Lancaster, thanks to Rob and the team for their consummate professionalism. I can't think of a better way to celebrate a 25 year anniversary in lockdown. Thanks to Dvino Wines in Preston for their wonderful vino . Very happy and special for my wife and I .

Absolutely great dining experience.
Five family members went there yesterday evening for a long overdue get together and catch up.
Service was exceptional, all of our food was cooked as described and was very very good.
Drinks, reasonable. Good location and premises.
Will be going back again.
Brilliant.
Thank you.

So all that aside let me first state that if you live in Lancaster and have never been to QSF (Quite Simply French) on St George's Quay you should go, go soon, in fact book now. If you are thinking of visiting Lancaster and want to eat good continental fare, then QSF should probably be first on your list.

Quite Simply put this is a really excellent place to eat. The food is always wonderful. The whole of the menu is prepared on site using the freshest ingredients sourced from good local (or small business) suppliers. The chefs are talented and enthusiastic about the flavours and this shows in the brio they put into creative menus that change daily.

In regards to presentation the food always looks good. If I were to be critical (which I do not really want to) I would say they often try to hard and need to restrain and think of the whole picture not the component parts when assembling a dish. But we shall have that criticism bunny shot now, as it doesn't matter, it tastes great.

The wine list is chosen well, as always there is the restaurant-tax of marked up prices, however the wines on the list are not common supermarket fare so have been selected with an experts palate. Even the house wines are worthy.

We haver visited QSF regularly (we often hold Christmas Parties there) and it was a simple choice to go for an anniversary. This time I used the new online booking service which was simple, painless and precise. As a reward for that we were treated to a complimentary cocktail.

One matter to be wary of. The food at QSF is cooked to order, there is no large racks of pre-prepared microwave meals so you will have a wait between courses and when they are busy. However the fresh baked, and complimentary breads, help to fill the gaps and also you can digest between courses and quaff a little more of those wines.

The Staff were really friendly and efficient - absolutely loved them!

The food was rubbish. Duck completely overpowered by tomatoes and garlic. Rib eye steak wasn't rib eye steak. Weird sauce tasted like washing up liquid. Venison like rubber.

Absolutely stunning! We stayed in the Ashton Suite...from the chandeliers to the rain sensitive windows...from the free standing bath (which of course I had to take advantage of ! ) to the mood lighting ..from the riverside view to the underfloor heating....and that bed is oh so comfy!! Everything was more than perfect ! The room was spotlessly clean and the attention to detail impeccable ! We were
greeted with a warm welcome from Jen, who is an absolutely credit to the company ! This morning we were greeted by Rob, the owner and a 3 course breakfast...which was all locally sourced and so tasty ! We would highly recommend the Simply French Ashton Suite...! Don t wait for a special occasion...as Rob and his team will make you feel special any day !

We found it too late to get a booking on Saturday night but they offered to put us on the standby list and they found us a place. The food was brilliant and the service was fabulous. I want them to close down and move the whole operation to Brighton so i can eat there every night. You must go but you must book in case you aren't as lucky as us.

I took my wife here for her birthday. The restaurant and service were very nice, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. The food on the other hand was a little disappointing.
My Ham and mushroom tart was tasty, and the pastry was really crunchy, but overall it tasted a little over-seasoned. I chalked it down to the ham being quite salty and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Sadly my halibut main was also over-seasoned. Not to the point of being harsh, but certainly to the point of being noticeable. Maybe the lack of table water had an impact too? I'm not sure. Other than that the two dishes were very tasty and very well cooked and presented.

Overall the food was pricey, and therefore not worth the money. I doubt I'll be dining there again. A shame really as in theory it should be fantastic!

We'd had several great reports and chose to book in for an anniversary meal. Finding about their early evening offers, we came for 6:15. Parking nearby was available but not massively plentiful. They had noted the anniversary and dressed the table a little and were nice with congratulations.

My wife chose the Moules Mariniere whilst I had a terrine. Mine was very pleasant, hers a triumph! The mussels were succulent and luxurious. The sauce was delicious to the last wipe of the very large bowl.

For main, my wife went for the top with their surf and turf (which includes 2 glasses of champagne). The lobster was bob-on, the 8oz rump nicely medium rare. I chose the braised brisket and we shared their signature Dauphinoise potatoes. All were very good.

We will be back, if they have a table for a future date.

I know that I have reviewed Quite Simply French before, however, I cannot sing their praises enough!

From start to finish eating at QSF is always a pleasure.

We booked online - the website is fantastic, the booking form is so straight forward and advises you of any special menus that are available on the day you are booking at the point of booking, you also receive a confirmation email and a reminder email on the day of your booking. Such simple touches, but they greatly enhance the experience.

On arrival the staff are always friendly and polite and you are made to feel welcome instantly.

Before the meal we had oysters, I'm not the biggest fan but they were presented beautifully and came with lovely accompaniments and were clearly incredibly fresh and the queenie scallops. The scallops are one of my favourite pre-starters at QSF, they are cooked perfectly.

We all had different mains, but I had the steak and I again have to compliment the chef - my rare steak was perfect and definitely makes it into my top ten!

To finish I had the cherry pie which was a new addition to the menu and I hope it stays around for a while as it was delicious!

I cannot recommend QSF highly enough - it is perfect for couples and groups a like and there is is something to suit most budgets!

We will be back again very soon.
