Shoreline Central Market Review

Overpriced and bad service.

Of all the grocery stores in the area that I have shopped at, this grocery store has the most unfriendly attitude that I have encountered. Fred Meyer, Safeway and Albertsons cashiers, counter servers and other employees are all much friendlier and more accommodating to customer service and needs than the employees at Central Market. This is ironic because the prices at Central market are anywhere between 20 and 100% higher than the prices at the large grocery chains and I'm sure their paychecks are also larger. Still the employees rarely smile and emanate the vibe that they are doing you a favor to wait on you. My most recent negative experience and the one that motivated me to write this warning involved a cashier that couldn't be bothered to do her job and scan 5 items from a basket on her counter. Instead she insisted that I remove all items, caddy the basket for her before she would ring up the bill. When I suggested that that was her job, she claimed her "elbow hurt" and refused to proceed at all and made a big scene. She seemed to be confused about who was paying whom in the transaction and got really nasty about it.

When I go to a to any store I expect to be greeted with smiles and courtesy and not to have some cashier make a scene about doing her job. Her comments during the scene seemed to indicate that she felt she was "too good for this job".

Regrettably, this was not the first negative experience I've had at this market, just the most blatant.

Despite some other attributes of the market; quality and selection, I can not recommend this market and will shop elsewhere in the future.

My sister and I ordered the complete premade Thanksgiving dinner. We knew it was a lot of food for two people, but we love leftovers so we went for it. Everything was very good. I am always afraid other's sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce will be too sweet. I was pleasantly surprised that they were not sweet at all. Just right. Also, I usually like my own gravy better than any deli offerings, but CM gravy passed muster. I now have a good supply of nice turkey broth from the carcass. Thank you Central Market. You never disappoint.

Great employees, great food selection, so many new and unique things to try! A little pricey, but worth it!

Good produce, great selection of meats, cheeses, and especially seafood. Beer selection is also very good, and wines as well. Prices are quite high, although there are some bargains if you shop carefully. Staff is also friendly and helpful.

I like this place, but I would go here just for some items, more like things that you forget sometimes, and for vegetables and prepared food. The prices are high in my opinion. No really good for saving. But they do have a good selection of things.

These folks are amazing. They're super friendly and the food is great. I've actually made friends with some of the staff here. Love it!

Really interesting market. Lots of foods you won't find elsewhere. It's pricier but not as bad as whole foods.

Not as big as the Central Market in Poulsbo, but is is an acceptable substitute. Always an amazing selection of top quality produce like no where else!

Great supermarket with a wide variety of products and produce. Also good for lunch. I've seen Tom Douglas shopping there several times!

It's always worth the trip to go for the variety and freshness of their produce.

Love this store. Just about anything you need or want in a grocery sense is here, large, clean store. Great selection, hot and cold prepared foods, one of the largest fresh produce areas in any store. Fresh seafood, chicken, meats departments. Great supplements and health/body sections. Large Asian grocery items section. Bakery, deli, coffee bar attached. Clean restrooms, plenty of free parking, full service and self checkout. COVID Safe. One really great thing they've added that I personally appreciate and love is a hand washing station at the front just behind the checkout area. It's really great to be able to wash my hands with real soap and water! Thank you Central Market!

The best Market in North Seattle, maybe the entire Seattle area!

Pretty relaxed at 7.30 in the morning. Still the same old Central Market - great selection, awesome staff... taking covid precautions seriously, and much appreciated.

Good selection of Asian food (bau!) and good salad bar, plus pizza by the slice - with lots of regular groceries in between

Favorite grocery store in the world! I live in South Seattle and still come up to Shoreline just for this store sometimes (but usually only if I'm already in the area, it is quite a drive). Great selection of EVERYTHING, including prepared foods. It's like a Whole Foods but bigger, less expensive and more selection. Friendly and helpful staff who seem to enjoy working there, which makes me feel like they are treated well, which makes me like the store even more. Please open another location in the South!

I recently started shopping here and it s now my favorite grocery store. Today I had an even better experience there. My husband and I are trying a diet of whole foods and I m still learning to read labels. I was lost when Moe walked by and offered help. She was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and (bonus) funny. Central Market is a fantastic grocery store. They always have what I need in produce and have a great deli, meet counter and prepared foods. You can find great selection of specialty items but they also have most of your run of the mill stuff.

Expwnsive, but lots of variety and an enjoyable shopping experience. They are doing a great job of following safety guidelines during the pandemic. They require the use of a mask and sanitize tour cart for you prior to use. They are limiting customers so there may be a line.

Excellent produce, meat department, deli/restaurant and bakery sections, also a comprehensive Asian food selection.

As a celiac vegetarian, perennially impressed by all the niche items I can find here.

One stop shop for everything! A little on the pricier side but all good quality. They have an amazing deli and pizza as well as fresh flour tortillas made daily.

This place has everything. Seriously. A tad pricey but do check it out.

High prices but unbelievable selection. By far largest selection of microbrews in Kitsap county. Every organic/natural food you could think of.

I love this store. I just want to mention that Google shows them as open 24/7 but that's not true. The sign on the front door says 7 am - 11 pm Daily.

Everything I needed, they had it! Very pleased and satisfied customer! All the items that you can't find in a regular grocery store, you CAN find here. Love it! And, it's affordable!

This place has all kinds of high quality goods at its disposal, but keep in mind it'll cost you a "penny" or two. Maybe not my first choice as a regular grocery, but when I need something high quality or hard-to-find, this is the go-to place to go.

Great selection! It's a little pricey, but well worth it. They have a great hot bar and cheese selection! But the produce and seafood areas are what really set it apart. A grocery store I love to shop at!

One of my underrated favorite markets. I love their food court especially their hot dogs and pizza. Plenty of parking and lots of selection. Great seafood and Asian selection as well.

Great staff. During COVID-19, they have been very meticulous in making sure that baskets and carts are disinfected and have a staff person watching over the carts to insure that customers not replacing used carts in the disinfected area. Organized the entry and exits to avoid traffic; provided PPEs for cashiers and staff. Cashiers cleaned belts and payment touch pads after each customer. The store is also large enough to keep distance. Even the vast number of customers are thoughtful and careful. Selections of vegetables and fresh meats are superb.

Central Market is one of my favorite grocery stores in the PNW. Loads of selection and great staff.

Central Market is the one stop shop of Asian and American food for me. They have a variety of selections. Yes everything here costs twice as much but I am happy to pay for it because I am not just buying the products. I am also buying the wonderful customer service, clean store, fresh and high quality produce, and ultimately the pleasant and fun shopping experience. This is high value for me especially during the pandemic.

If you need help lifting groceries, don't expect to get it here. I've asked many times for "help out" and they still urge me out the door quickly without a bit of assistance. Store is pricey; good sales or discounts are rare. Also hard to get special requests. On the weekends, not enough disabled parking.

A very small selection of what they have is reasonably priced. Everything else is outrageously expensive. You better not be on a budget if you plan to shop here. They definitely cater to the top 1%

Good place to get any fresh food you want. I enjoyed looking at the dungeness crabs in the tank! Everything is arranged so neatly, just the way we want, easy to grab our thanksgiving food!

Great selection and the quality is there. Prices are a bit high, but there's a lot of high end stuff there too. It's fun watching customers reading their receipts as they walk out of store. Two bags of groceries for $95!

Customer service is about on par with Costco. Largely indifferent on the floor and behind the glass in meat and fish. Cashiers are great. Fred Meyer is further away, but I shop there when I can. Better prices and friendlier (much) staff.

Fantastic bulk section. Great produce along with meat/seafood and deli. On the spendy side without a lot of good sales, but worth it for better products in certain categories.

The best market for miles around. They even have live shellfish and a pizzeria (although unrelated and not in the same part of the store).

The staff is honest and hardworking. Not so sure about the meat guy. I'm vegetarian and somehow they got me to buy a burger... Also the Shitake mushrooms are not properly sealed. If you start sneezing in vegetables section: buy a lime and cook with it.

It's got everything I need. Here's a small sample-breakfast for tomorrow. Yum!

The best grocery store in the area. It stocks high quality food, the workers are happy and quick to get work done, the store is clean, and is a bit of a cultural center of Shoreline. If you can afford to make the switch, I'd recommend coming here for your groceries.

I don't have to go to Uwajimaya to buy Japanese food items. Central have most of them. The seafood choice is great too. The price is higher on regular grocery items than chain stores like QFC

I love the Central Market Bakery is the Best Naughty around,in shoreline, Greman Chocolate Cake is best I've tasted in yrs.!! & today I got French crepes ready to reheat, Authentic they claim,beautiful color I say,fresh looking,so I got some marscapone and they had some quality Preserves on sale so I got Peach and I mixed that with marscapone and some powdered sugar and a dash of vanilla and plan on putting that in a warmed crep in the morning for breakfast I think that sounds pretty damn good if I can stay out of it tonight

Best produce EVER! See, Central Market produce section is far superior to any others in the neighborhood, stuff just lasts way longer in the fridge or on the counter. Fresh herbs ect. Worth a visit

Union grocery store that has everything you need and more.

This Central Market is great! Always a steady stream of people because it's so popular. The associates there are always nice and will help you with anything. Great selection and quality every time. The produce and meat sections are always spot on quality and variety. The pizza and premade food area is awesome, big variety. I always leave with a slice or two and there is a nice open seating area if you plan on staying there to chow down. The bathrooms are always clean and stocked. There is also a farmers market during the year that takes place in the outer area of the parking lot on the weekends and it's wonderful. Great people and food/products!

Good parking, great wine selection and plenty of all natural/organic selection.

A playground of culinary delights from around the world. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, tons of fresh products made right onsite, top quality local produce, meat, and seafood. This is the greatest grocery store on Earth, hands down nothing compares to Central Market.

Love shopping here. Best produce around neighborhood and large selection of meats.

Quick five-star shout out for having a grease recycling station. Not many places go beyond just encouraging sustainability to actually host it and accommodate it on site. Well done!
