A lovely hotel, great food comfortable rooms and friendly staff

Beautiful hotel, very clean & thoughtful staff, very mindful of Covid 19 , unfortunately many of their guests didn't afford the staff the same thoughtfulness by wearing masks, very uncomfortable in the lobby area

Sheraton hotel is one of the best hotel located in the centre of town Athlone. The hotel is build nearby town centre. Great place to stay for the trip to athlone. They have a restaurant, gym, spa and other amenities in the hotel. If you are doing some shopping in athlone, a few minutes walk would take you to the town centre.

Room service and presentation was very good.
Staff were polite and helpful.

Ideally located in the heart of Athlone, the Sheraton offered a great stop-over point after our cycle along the Mullingar-Athlone Greenway. From our arrival at reception to our post hearty-breakfast departure, the staff were definitely what set this hotel apart. Quite simply, they couldn t have been friendlier or more helpful. We were also lucky enough to have a beautiful room in the tower portion of the property which offered fantastic views of Athlone, the Shannon and the surrounding countryside. In spite of some restrictions imposed as a result of the coronavirus situation, this short stay in the hotel was a real treat.

one of my favourite hotels. great location in athlone town. the best matress and pillows i have ever slept on (cant sleep properly anywhere since sleeping in these beds) lovely, comfortable hotel and friendly helpful staff. The food is great also. we look forward to returning here.

Beautiful large hotel quality furnishing. Frieny helpful staff. Bedrooms space with large comfortable bed. Nice lead out bathroom separate bath and shower.

Good and comfortable rooms, especially for the price. The staff are always accommodating and the bar food is good although standard pub grub. Despite functions being held here, I've never been disturbed by the noise of them.

lovely place great location close to shops/ restaurants etc. rooms lovely and spacious. room service non existing which is a pity let's the experience down. restaurant hit and miss breakfast only ok good selections but not really 5 star more what you would get in a 3 star. restaurant for dinner was a bit messy didn't have our reservation so had to wait for table to be set up eventhou it was booked via reservations months in advance. food was only ok again something you would see in a superior 3 star not from a 5 star. had to ask for more sides, drinks were forgotten and staff didn't listen to what was ordered at times. overall the only thing the experience had going for it was the size of the room and the location of the hotel.

i haven't stayed at hotel but food good ath the hoteland servuc is excellent.

It's a fabulous hotel. The breakfast is terrific and staff are helpful , pleasant and friendly and nothing a bother to them. It's so spacious everywhere in the hotel. It has a pool ,leisure centre etc.(I didn't use it but my sister did). There's a lovely relaxed atmosphere in hotel and I look forward to going back. Try the Harvest cafe...access from hotel into shopping centre. Food really good there. I think the Hotel may own it. I can really recommend the Sheraton Athlone...I'd go back for the breakfast alone.!!!

Friendly professional and helpful staff ( Liz in particular) , which made a big difference. Would highly recommend.

A well located, clean hotel, the rooms are comfortable and spacious. Polite, professional and helpful staff. The swimming pool is heated and pretty. Hammam and sauna included. Check out at 12 is a big plus. Only small flat: if like me you go down for breakfast late (11 past) you will find less choice because the hotel is large and the guests are therefore numerous!

Love the Sheraton Hotel been coming here since it first opened, very central, food is always first class, rooms very luxurious, staff very friendly and helpful.

Excellent rooms and services. The restaurant is really good.

We booked a deluxe room with city view and on check in were given a room which was really disappointing, there was a big stain in the bathroom like a toothpaste smear and no hand soap which just made us wonder if it had been serviced at all. The window was small and the room a bit pokey. The view, if you looked the right direction, was of the river, but mostly of a big black roof of the building below. We ask about the bathroom stain and to be fair were given the option to move rooms. We were told the other room wasn't going to be as nice a view though as it was level 6 and the current room was level 7. We did wonder how that could be possible, what's worse than roof felt everywhere you look? On the contrary the new room was lovely, had the windows we had booked and a view of the city (town?). So it was delt with well enough, just a bit strange that we were given a gross room to start with.
Breakfast was also a but odd as you had to book a time of 8, 9 or 10. But this meant everyone was turning up at the same time and queuing up which seemed counter productive with supposed social distancing in place. There were hand sanitisers about but one lift was empty of it and was never refilled during the 3 days we were there. The whole hotel was a bit below par, definitely didn't feel like a 4 star, dust in alot of places, ceilings etc. And this after a supposed deep clean before reopening. I have my doubts that was carried out. There were just lots of little things which in themselves weren't that bad, but collectively left us feeling a bit dissatisfied with our stay. The pool was closed due to an electrical problem? The gym was closed due to covid19, even though gyms were generally open by this stage. Felt just a bit lazy like they just wanted to stretch it out for another while without opening it.
Overall, I'd rather stay somewhere else if returning to Athlone, but if it was the best value by a long shot then I'd consider staying here again. But that's just not something I should be saying about a 4 star hotel usually.

This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are really nice and the swimming pool is fab. Location is perfect. You can enter the huge shopping centre from the hotel which is great and there's lots of great bars and restaurants near by. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I wanted to give this 5stars but the only reason I didn't is because the food was disappointing.

Excellent just perfect ticked all the boxes .Highly recommend. Will be back .

Fantastic location. In the very heart of the city and perfectly situated.
This was our second time here in the last year.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. From the reception to the restaurant, everyone we encountered was pleasant.
The room itself was excellent. Very spacious and clean. Fast WiFi and great tv. The speaker in the bathroom linked to the tv was also a great feature!! We requested a high level room and were given it, and the view was amazing (especially for the New Year s Eve fire works!).
The hotel facilities were also superb. The gym and swimming pool weren t too busy at the times we visited, so were nice and relaxing.
We had breakfast each morning and had the New Year s Eve meal. The breakfast was lovely each day (we requested an omelette one morning and that was really tasty) and the New Year s Eve meal was excellent.
All in all, an excellent stay that was brilliant value and I d highly recommend it to anyone!

Overall I was not very impressed. The room was fine, however the whole place seemed to lack any charm. The bar was poorly designed we sat at a table and no one came to ask us did we want to place an order until I aproched the waiting staff. Not their fault entirely as we could not be seen where we were sitting. The food when it finally came was OK but nothing special. Overall the room was fine for a night the hotel is in a great location with easy parking, but the place lacks soul, in one word anonymous.

Beautifully built and finished to a very high standard, but the cleanliness of the place is poor. Barman brought drinks to the table, spilled it all over the table went off and didn't even come back to clean up the mess. All the empty tables in the bar area were very dirty. There were 3 staff behind the bar and the bar wasn't busy, so there was no reason for the place to be so dirty.

Attended as a wedding guest and it was a lovely hotel

We got a family room.
It was okay.
The windows and curtains were dirty but the hotel itself was lovely.
The pool was amazing and dinner and breakfast was 5 star.
We will be deffinetlly going back.

Great luxurious suites.

There is a swimming pool and a gym.

Lunch was great.

There is direct access to mall which you will find handy.

Best part is view if you are in the tower.

Slap bang, in the middle of town, surrounded by local bars, and historical buildings. Rooms were spotless. Beds really big and comfy. Bteakfast was freshly cooked, quality produce. Shower in the room powerful, and ralaxing. Great value for money!

Food was not great, complained about it but still charged full price.

Suite was very comfortable, food was excellent and nothing was too much bother for the staff.

Which Didn't stay here. Just had a snack in the cafe which leads out into the town centre shopping centre. I was also in the bar. A well run top notch hotel I'd say. Serves a good pint

Central located hotel that is a great location to walk to the bars and restaurants. Has a lovely fitness centre and spa, as well as a fantastic indoor pool with the usual hot tub, sauna and steam room. The staff were fantastic and should you make it to this hotel, take the 10 min walk to seans pub. The oldest pub in Ireland. (Guinness World Record verified)

WE HAD A LOVELY FAMILY MEAL THERE TODAY.AND A LOVELY GIRL CALLED MARY SERVED US .MYSELF AND MY HUSBAND HAS LOVELY MEMORIES STAYING THERE SADLY HE PASSED AWAY THIS YEAR .BUT I STILL HAVE MY MEMORIES .

Average breakfast and overpriced dinner, pool was very small.
The restaurant manager was very pleasant, I have to admit, and the food was very tasty, but it was overpriced. If the staff weren't as nice as they were, i would have given the hotel a 2 star rating. Also, I would strongly recommend your chefs to include hash browns in your breakfast buffet, and ditch the onions on the sausages, that was a bad decision, like really? Who puts onions over sausages, if the person would like onions on their sausages, can't that person put it on themselves? Other than that, the rooms were very clean, and the beds were comfy.

Rooms were ok, smell of drains in the bathroom. Needed to remake the bed before i went to bed as they were not made to hotel standards. Stale bread at breakfast.

Lovely Hotel rooms are very comfortable beds also. Was at a training weekend and food was included Friday was a buffet and was not warm as it should be the food warmers were with the food but was not turned on Saturday and Sunday food was nice but repetitive came by car and had to get 2 lifts from car park to reception I felt it wasn't signed enough for hotel when we ordered a drink we had to wait nearly 15 minutes as the Hotel didn't open the upstairs bar where we were having the buffet then the staff waited beside you for payment quite irritating as there was only a small group of us in the room about 40 people otherwise it was comfortable hotel

The most important things to me while traveling is a crisp, clean, comfortable bed, along with a clean and spacious bathroom WITH a shower. The Sheraton Athlone was absolute perfection! Great breakfast too!

One of the most spacious rooms I have stayed in Ireland. In a great location with a shopping centre also attached along with lovely pool and gym facilities too. this hotel has everything you could want to make your stay an enjoyable one. Very reasonable pricing especially during mid week. Quick tip if you do want a spa treatment make sure to book ahead as it can be very busy at times.
