SHEAR ESSENCE HAIR SALON Review

I made the appointment for today, the person who took my info put in for the next day. The business says walkins welcome but no other effort was made to accommodate me, so I left.

Great job, clean environment, pleasant staff, long wait no different from any other place regarding wait time.

I absolutely love Sheer Essence salon. I go to Kiara and she always, always do a fantastic job on my hair. Since I went natural, my hair is healthy and it grew so much since she been doing my hair. My hair was so damaged when I first started coming to Kiara. As a matter of fact every stylish at Sheer Essence Salon do a fantastic job on your hair. Star, Jenine, Nakia, and Brittany all do a good job on your hair.

This place does NOT accommodate its customers. I ve called on several occasions to make an appointment with a stylist and each time I have not been accommodated and just blown off. The owner has a HUGE attitude and was not helpful AT ALL. It is sad because I ve been a customer of Sheer Elegance but they are no longer living up to their standards. I do not recommend going to this shop.

The shop itself was nice! But I went for a silk press and wasn't pleased. The hair dresser burnt my scalp several times and burnt my ear several times. It didn't last or look the way I hoped. I'm not going to bash the whole shop or other beautitians that work there. But my experience wasn't so great. Not sure if I will be goin back.

So I was a first timer at Essence Sheers found them last years and decided to look them up and noticed one of my young ladies (kiara) was working there I definitely wanted her to do my hair she did a awesome job I will go back, I m a lady that also went to school for cosmetology back in the day so I do my own hair most of the time but I will go back the place was nice and clean they were all very professional and thats number one key to me. Stylist was so clueless about thick natural hair to where she allowed my hair to dry for 2 hours before trying to rip through my 4a hair dried hair. Instead of allowing her to cause severe breakage I left the salon with unstyled hair. The owner was apologetic but my scalp was on fire at that point. So I paid $40 for patchy highlights. Only to have a salon in the city fix her incompetence.

Admittedly, the skillset of the various hairstylists is phenomenal in everyway.

Very professional hair stylist, the shop is beautiful, always find parking I've been going there for over a year and I love it.

They have been doing my hair ever since hs. (I'm in my 30's) really helped me get through my transitional phase back to natural. Always laugh and stories. If anyone has been here they are always trying to decide what to eat. great stylist, great atmosphere, great high quality service.

Came in for a silk, trim and rinse. I ve been natural for about 5/6 years. I ve gotten silk presses before at other salons. however this time around it completely ruined my hair. I got my silk done here in June and still today my curl pattern has not returned. My hair is completely bone straight. I can t even flat twist my hair and get the curls I used to. This has never happened to me before. I don t know what they did but I won t return here again. Quality of work is mediocre. Prices are extremely high and not worthy. I got 3 things done to my hair and it cost me $150+ and perhaps a lifetime of damaged hair. The work is subpar and overpriced.

I Love Shear Essence, I have been going to Shear Essence for over 15 years and go weekly to get my hair done and would not go anywhere else!!

Idk where the bad review came from, but uhhh. I can t complaine I get a lil bit of this with a lot of that. I m always satisfied and so are other clients. Great place to get layed Trust me!

I love this salon! My friend from college recommended this salon to me and I've gone to do weaves, silk press and cuts/trims from Kiara. I moved away and after moving back to New York, I still drive to jersey to get my hair done. Great vibes, people talking/sharing stories and singing. Everyone is polite and friendly and knowledgeable on all types of hair. They sanitize every thing after use.

I started coming here for about 2 months now, Love this place ! Nakeia is my go too ! Never disappoints

I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. The wait was ridiculous for this place. I waited nearly 3 hours for a relaxer, wash, and straighten. They also chemically burned me with a relaxer and left the relaxer in too long. This caused my edges on the right side of my head to fall out.

I've been getting my hair done here for 4 years and they never disappoint. Janen is my stylist and she is awesome. I've gotten silk presses(no heat damage) sew-ins, braids and every style was amazing.

Dario is awesome and my dogs love him!! He has been so accommodating with their nuances. I would recommend this group to anyone wanting a loving professional to take care of your furry family members.

Five stars. I have been coming to Sheer Essence for nearly two years and I am very happy with the results of my hair. I was a going to a Dominican salon and sorry to say there was a lot of my damage to my hair from blowouts which took away my natural curl. From the very beginning the atmosphere was friendly, till this day it still is. All the hairstylists and Trevor are wonderful, full of life and they guide your hair care regimen. I thank them for making my hair healthier and my visits entertaining. Wonderful salon.
