Although it is commercialized, it is possible to experience the historical Shaolin Temple and the priests who encourage martial art there with live view. In addition to Shaolin Temple there is a statue of Takuma at the top of the mountain in the back, and the scenic view of the Sanrio bao you can enjoy it as a light trekking!

Pretty awesome place to visit, the ancient temple court shows a lot of history and it's well preserved. I do recommend hire a guide to explain the history, otherwise it will seem just like any other Chinese temple. There is also an actual school where kids learn Kung Fu for real and it looks like damn hard work.

There is also a live theaters where they give a half hour real time performance from young martial art students.

And of course, lots of gift shop

The temple itself is beautiful but honestly nothing special..too commercial and full of tourists for my taste. The show included in the price knows little and the story that is the background is only spoken in Chinese of course. If you plan to go there, take the whole day because it is really worth getting on the cable car and taking a walk on Mount Song. Fantastic views and a hike to get to the temple on the rather demanding summit, above all because of the row of LoL steps

This is where it all started. The sence of history is everywhere.

The hike up to Dharma cave isn't physically long but the hundreds of stairs, high temperature and high humidity make it a strenuous journey. Bottled water is for sale and it is strongly recommended to take advantage of it.

The Kung Fu shows are great and highly recommended.

Lots to see and do. Many long walks up into the misty mountains that surround the temple. There are usually displays of martial arts training going on throughout the day.

Take the Iron Monk demonstration with a pinch of salt, if the monk had hit himself with a Cambridge "Iron" Brick, it would be his head that would have broken, likewise with the steel bar, a piece of Sheffield Steel would leave the monk with a broken head, or drilling the side of his head with a new masonry drill bit would mean certain death. They say don't video the show, but when the lights dim the majority Chinese audience ignores that order, so prepare to get dazzled by phone camera lights...

The birth place of Kung Fu and home to majestic scenery. A must see for anyone visiting Luoyang. There are multiple cable cars that go up to the surrounding mountains. The views are spectacular but be careful of the ice in winter.

For those brave enough, there is another Temple high up at the end of a winding mountainside passage. The real gem is Shaolin City. The artwork and history is a sight to behold. So much rich culture. Truly a spiritual experience.

A must see in spring, the sakuras are beautiful as well as the peonies. Atmosphere that gets in shape with workouts throughout Shaolin Park. Beautiful hikes over several days on the site and in Songshan. Possibility of a horse ride at altitude.

He dreamed of getting to Shaolin as a child when he watched kung fu fighters. Unusual place. The temple itself was quite commercialized: everything for sale, grandmothers with rosaries. But in any case, there is something to see. I was especially inspired by the climb to the Bodhidharma cave - this is perhaps the most amazing of all the impressions. The cave is located high on the mountain and to climb there you need to overcome many, many, many steps. Having overcome the rise you get into a small cell. In which Bodhidharma spent several years meditating, turning to the wall. Very powerful feeling. Then you can climb higher, to the very top of the mountain, and see the whole Shaolin.

Although visiting a Chinese domestic temple is the first experience, Shaolin is an ordinary Buddhist temple. I felt freshness that someone who prayed at a temple in China also had freshness. Incidentally, there was an entrance fee (including kung fu show) on local tours arranged at the hotel, which was 230 yuan. (October 2018)

Originally because Kyoto, Japan is very shocking, but to explore the ancient source,
Who knows a little disappointed.

1. Still relying on acrobatics to make a living. In fact, can you learn the monuments of Kyoto and sell some souvenirs with themes and quality? For example, Shaolin Temple, Shaolin Temple, Shaolin Temple, Shaolin Temple, and the Shaolin Temple Paper pressure, Shaolin Temple sign bronze medal, etc. Can there be more market touch?

2. The record of the printed shirt, severely smeared, may even be suspected of damaging the skin/health.

3. The roadside suddenly has a large gilded Fuwa..... Now this is Shaolin Temple. What are you doing with this? Is it still a golden man, will make you make money? Chinese people still only have money for money? Chinese Still not rich in money? Kyoto is that the hosts are not looking at the money, so the cultural relics will be preserved for 500-1300 years. This is an insistence on ideals; and the Chinese, on behalf of the temple, only have money?? ?????

4. The smell of sesame oil is very heavy. In fact, the temples in Kyoto are very different from the temples in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. One of them is that there is less scented oil in the place. They are a kind of persistence, a kind of respect, and they really have a lot of hardships to talk to God. And China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, I want to add a little more money, I think it is still not enough, it is greed, so ask God. And this Shaolin Temple, of course, is like this, full of greedy worship and desire.

5. Can you experience the group, the guided tour group? Modern people are not full of people watching acrobatics.

6. Night-charged performances.... In short, it may be possible to support many people in undeveloped areas. However, it is always .... It is not special, and there is nothing to be amazed. Once you look at it, you will not see it again.

Very nice location. Great buildings. I found the cemetery with all the stelae impressive. Would have the impression that it is very commercial. Designed for tourism.
Easily accessible. We drove from Luoyang (Hotel Peony) by coach for about 2 hours.

The Shaolin Temple Tallinn is the tomb of the monks of the Shaolin Temple. After the death of the famous Buddhist monk in the Buddhist world, they put their ashes or bones into the underground palace and built towers on them to show merit. The height, size and number of layers of the tower are mainly determined by the depth, prestige, and merit of the Buddhist monks. There are 232 towers in the Shaolin Temple in Tallinn, covering an area of over 140,000 square meters. After the Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it is the oldest building with the largest number, the highest value and the highest value in China. The number of layers of the tower is different, generally one to seven, the height is about 15 meters or less, the shape is square, hexagonal, octagonal; there are cylinders, vertebral bodies; there are straight, parabolic; there are bottles, horns shape. There are many kinds and wonderful forms. These towers are representative works of various historical periods. They are a treasure trove of comprehensive research on ancient Chinese architecture, calligraphy and sculpture.

A beautiful centre of Chan Buddhist culture and kung fu awesomeness. Whether you are interested in the above, or are just looking for a scenic day trip, the Shaolin Temple and surrounding mountains are great, as long as you don't mind crowds. If you do, go early or in winter!

This was one of my favourite life experiences ever. When you're there, up in the mountains of Dengfeng, smelling the pleasant clouds of incense, hearing the monks pray and taking in the serenity, there's just nothing like it. l grew up in the US, watching fictional stories of Shaolin told in movies and TV. To visit the real place was like a personal pilgrimage for me.

You should get started early, and expect this to be an all day outing. l came from Beijing, and just getting there took hours: to Luo Yang by train, and then to Dengfeng by taxi. The property includes much more than just the temple: outer courtyard/admissions, administrative buildings, the temple itself, the Pagoda Forest, the trails... it's sprawling, and takes forever to traverse on foot.

lf you're lucky, you may catch some monks or school kids practicing kung fu. There are altars to make offerings to Buddha. Snack, drink and souvenir stands (complete with aggressive salespeople) are everywhere between and around the outside of the temple courtyards.

lt will typically be a little crowded. Like at most tourist attractions in China, your photos here (where permitted) will invariably have tons of other people in them. Just remember to have respect and behave, and use your inside voice.

As this is one of my favourite places on earth, I'll return one day. Until then, thank you to the monks for taking me as a visitor.
