All the food was fantastic. Lobster pot pie was delicious.
Excellent food at reasonable prices. The menu is varied but not overwhelming. Entree choices include steaks, lamb, fish, scallops. Good variety of soups, and appetizers (potatoe pancakes are especially good). Sides are simple but delicious, i.e. garlic mashed potatoes, fresh veggies - acorn squash and asparagus are particularly good. Restaurant is divided into separate bar, two dinning rooms downstairs and another upstairs - makes for an enjoyable dining experience. Also has an outdoor patio which is awesome in the warmer months. Obviously a favorite with the locals.
Great fish and chips. And lobster bisque was outstanding!!!
My wife and I were able to squeeze in at peak dinner hour, and they accommodated us quickly! We had Kelly as our server, she was quick, knew the specials and menu thoroughly and had a wonderful personality!! We have ordered food prior for take out but this was my first time dining there and the food was delicious and fair priced. From beginning to end this was an excellent experience! Keep up the good work, my wife and I are busy and do not get much time out but I think we found a new go to spot!! I d recommend Shamus to everyone!!!!
Outside seating was nice. Beautiful. Was disappointed in appetizer choices
My family dines at this restaurant once a year after an event. This year we were very disappointed. We had difficulty with the reservations. A 6:30 reservation turned into a 7 pm seating. 3 of the 7 of us received water. 5 received menus. Although everyone was pleasant, the service was very slow. The food was quite disappointing. The only one who loved her meal had ordered the Caesar salad. Particularly, the lobster bisque, the vegetarian Shepard's Pie, the halibut, and the seafood pot pie were in one word, terrible. SO sad. Atmosphere is lovely.
We had an outstanding dinner there with 20 people. The food was fantastic, prices were so reasonable for the quality of food we had. We have been there many times but many of our friends had never been there and have vowed to go back for dinner. There lobster bisque makes you feel you are in New England. All of the dinners are served with soup or salad, a delicious breadboard, entrees include vegetables, and a starch that goes well with your dinner choice. It is a lovely setting and if you want to see a beautiful patio, they also have that to offer. Our friends had, filet, pecan crusted chicken, scallops and 12 oz pork chops. The entire experience was over the top. The waitresses are the best I have had in a very long time. They constantly check to make sure you are happy. The owner, Ann is incredible with her attention to detail. Go there, you will be so happy you went.
The Shamus is what people call a staple restaurant. Shamus s food is comfort food. It makes you feel like you are having a mini thanksgiving but with different food. The atmosphere is a friendly comforting feeling. The chefs, waitresses and the owner welcome you as family. The food doesn t raise the bar it is the bar
Great food, Ridiculous Burger, Slab Bacon and Spinach Salad, and bread varieties
Terrific food and service. This a favorite for my wife and me in Lockport.
Always a good meal, never disdappointed. Owner and her staff are always so accommodating. Great bar.
awesome food and service wonderful atmosphere, be going back real soon
Good food, friendly staff, and had Big Ditch Hayburner on tap. The teriyaki sandwich was tasty and savory.
Nice meal - good service - the menu has changed we haven't been there in years but a few of our favorites are still available
The atmosphere is very cozy and friendly. They have a good menu selection with great tasting food. The waitresses are polite and efficient. I would have given 5 stars but the bartender didn't acknowledge me and my wife for at least 6 plus minutes, and the bar wasn't busy.
Shamus restaurant is probably the best option for a sit down meal for family/friends/business, however it does not serve yummy memorable food. The Ruben sandwich was the restaurants feature as stated by the server, had far too much meat then sauerkraut and dressing on thin bread and the homemade chips were cold. Also, a better fish fry can be gotten at many other WNY restaurants.
Excellent dining choice if you re in or around Lockport. Ann Murphy runs a tidy little restaurant with great food, excellent service in an iconic building. We loved our meal and the local history lesson Ann provided. Really first rate!
FOOD - 5 STARS (burgers are delicious)
ATMOSPHERE - 5 STARS
SERVICE - 5 STARS
PRICE - $$
Fabulous food, wonderful atmosphere and phenomenal service! Highly recommend
Food was good. Service is very good and friendly. Highest recommendation.
Most AMAZING crab cakes!!!! Literally you can blind order and anything you were served would be perfect! Must try the peanut butter pie!!!! The owner seats people herself and has the most beautiful heart. We LOVE it here. Must try!
I went to lunch. Wanted scratch soup they do soups that way. The special was short rib pastrami that was also excellent. Also had a Southern Tier winter ale. I recommend that also. No complaints.
Excellent food and service. A little loud with the revelers in the bar area, but its cozy and relaxed while being upscale.
Food is excellent and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
My wife and I love this restaurant and have dined in on several occasions. Yesterday evening, we had a rare night to enjoy without the kids and decided to head to Shamus. As always, the staff greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome.
We both ordered beer and enjoyed the bread and excellent French onion soup while we waited for the main course. We both ordered the seafood pot pie and within the first bite, it was clear that something wasn t right. I took a few more bites and couldn t eat anymore, as it seemed that the cream for the base had turned, since the dish tasted sour. I have ordered the seafood pot pie before, and it certainly hadn t tasted like this. I thought maybe my own palette was off, but my wife confirmed that her dish wasn t right either.
At this point we had a dilemma. I have never in my life sent a dish back and I felt horrible, as we ve never had anything but a wonderful experience at Shamus, but we simply couldn t eat the pot pie. Our server, Kelly, could tell that something wasn t right and was incredibly understanding and gracious. She immediately put new orders in for us and rushed them through so they were out quickly. The manager came over to check on us and comped our drinks, which was unnecessary but much appreciated.
The kindness and understanding shown by the staff reinforced the belief I already had that this is a first class establishment, focused on the experience of their patrons. What would have been a disaster at other restaurants was instead a chance to see real customer service on display. We will certainly be back and I strongly recommend Shamus to anyone looking for great food and an unparalleled guest experience.
Our favorite restaurant in Lockport. Have been here many many times and highly recommend chicken pecan, pork chop and duck. Staff very friendly, experienced and professional.
Went to Shamus last night for the first time, and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. Yuck, yuck, yuck! The ambiance is gloomy and old, the food is over priced and frankly disgusting, and the service is deplorable. My friend had halibut with risotto that was cold and had no flavor $ 30.00. When we grabbed the pepper mill our waitress ran over and took it out of her hand rude and rough. I had lamb chops that had very little meat on it, one side of the chop was so tough I couldn't cut it. We were interrupted several times while in the middle of conversation. Our terrible waitress threw my friends to go box in front of her, she argued with me over the coffee which was regular guarenteed. I will never be back and will never tell anyone to go there. I am sick to think I spent $ 125.00 there and will be sick about it until I pay my credit card so then I can just chalk it up as a bad experience. Hopefully nobody else is treated poorly by that waitress , hope she was just having a bad day. Yikes!
Was great food and not too long of a wait. Well worth going to.
Excellent food and drinks, the cream puff dessert was icing on the cake
Always Great Food & Drinks.. Amazing Service! Make sure you go there Hungry. Portions are Generous.
Hostess was rude and waiting 45min after our 630 reservation was unacceptable
This is one of my favorite places to have dinner with a friend, the menu is what you expect at fine dining. However the food comes correct and does not disappoint.
Apparently a well done steak counts as medium rare. They were apologetic and took it off the bill, though.
This was the best meal I've had I'm many months. Great service and an amazing atmosphere
Nice ambiance, great food. Had the charcuterie plate, very nice selection.
My father and brother have been coming here throughout the years since I was little, were always busy with life but when we do it s nice to catch up an always end up back here ,foods always awesome atmosphere is great and my food and proteins are always cooked to temp. Was here for Ash Wednesday and like always I was happy and stuffed thank you for a great meal last night! Also Thank you for staying open through the years , it s nice to have memories with the family and having a place to go!
We always enjoy eating at Shamus
Last night my choice was a disappointment the shrimp and lobster pie. It was loaded with potatoes. It needed some flavor. I added salt and pepper but it didn't help much. My choice I realize.
We sat on the Patio, the food was great but I didn't see the atmosphere of the inside sorry
Warm, beautiful, atmosphere with super staff, and great food. Such a breath of fresh air in this world of cookie cutter strip mall chain restaurants. ...there's a reason it's lasted for 25 years!
Had a very bad dinning experience. Came here after shopping on Black Friday at 8pm(closes @9), not a good idea and not what I expected for 30$ a plate. My steak was way over cooked and the sides were fries n mashed sweet potatoes. No salad, no veggies. So not worth the $$$. Will not dine here again nor will I recommend this place. Two thumbs down!
It's a cozy environment with a polite staff and good pricing.
The food is exceptional.
Very nice pub resto for a middle of nowhere. Lovely hostess
Always fantastic!!
The Scallops..spot on!!
Prime Rib was amazing!
Also the Salad with goat cheese and grilled Salmon..
Mouth watering
The staff is always so friendly and it's really great for kids and adults. The food us fantastic and everything is reasonably priced. This is by far my favorite restaurant to go to. I'd definitely give this a try :)
The food has always been wonderful throughout the years. Seafood, steak, chicken, whatever you'd like, is always done so well. It's a special treat every time our family finds an occasion to go.
Great, small and private. Awesome innovative menu. Definitely worth a visit.
My wife and I had the rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding here. They have a very private upstairs room that we used for the event. We had approximately 25 people and there was nothing but praise for the food , service and vemue. I highly recommend that you give them a try for the casual dinner or a small party.
The food & service were Wonderful! Lovely outdoors dining. We had Lobster bisque, fish & chips, mac & cheese & Reuben. First time there but we will be back.
Always a great place. And the renovation makes it that much better!
Waitress was very nice and the food was pretty awesome, bit lacking on cocktail choices is my only comment but didn't make or break the meal at all
Very nice lunch with my mother. Drinks, sticky chicken with nice crispy skin and sauce, plus dessert, and we left full and satisfied!
My husband and I went to lunch a few months ago,and our experience was horrible. I was in a wheelchair,so we drove to the back of the resturant thinking there would be a ramp, there was none, nor were there railings so that I could ease myself up the stairs. At front of the place there also is not a ramp.
And to top it off,we were made to seat next to the kitchen.
and there is no handicapped bathroom, there excuse is,we can help you,no you can't ,can't walk.
Going out ,it was very embarrassing to not receive Any help from the 2 employees standing there, watching me struggle .
. There is no handicap bathroom either.
Becoming one of our "go to spots" for lunch at my job. Best beef on weck any of us have had. It's amazing. Always very friendly staff when we stop in to pick up our order.
Phenomenal. The owner was so personable and sweet. Absolutely lovely.
Probably the best beef on a weck,i have had in years
Great food /wine menu & excellent friendly service ; staff are very pleasant and observant of the needs of thier customers. Prices are very reasonable and the dining area is clean, cozy & comfy. If you're visiting the Lockport, NY area, it would be the ideal place to dine!
I rate on service not food. I'm also a early eater so it's not always their busiest time. This is my favorite Irish restaurant. Very friendly staff from when they seat you to when they take your order and then when they serve you. No matter what my mood is there is always something on the menu that gets me excited.
The food excellent, nice and quiet, not hurried to have to leave
In my opinion still a good place to eat but quality has gone down slightly and price has gone up.
Went there for the first time yesterday. Great little place. Warm atmosphere and friendly staff. How did I not know about Shamus sooner? Loved the Mule. Mine was English with Tommy Rotter gin. They come with candied ginger, nice touch! Also, they have large ice cubes for whiskey. I had a Basil Haden's over a large cube. Smooth. My shrimp, scallop and king crab risotto was absolutely great. Everyone in our party loved their meals. Will definitely be back!
Best place I've found so far! The name was a little misleading, but it is definitively not an irish pub. Solid upscale American, nice atmosphere, really good value for what you get. I got the salmon and will definitely go back.
Several lunch specials. We were all happy with the meal - deliciously good portions. Two huge burgers , three Reuben sandwiches, one large chicken pot pie and a fish meal which was split and shared with two cups of soup. The waitress was happy to give separate checks to all. Very nice place!!!!!
Amazing service and great drinks. All food is made in house and at a very reasonable price.
Love the Atmosphere. Waitress did a good job and the Hostess friendly, Food good, just good not great. I got the fish fry. Hostess a 10. Restaurant 4.
When you think of an Irish bar I bet most people have some vague idea of what they're getting into. This isn't the case at all, the atmosphere is lovely and quiet. But the food was lackluster and tasted canned, from the soup to the entire dinner, everything tastes like it was straight from a box or a can with no preparation of its own.
Like the selection on menu with good choices by chef. Nice casual atmosphere where you feel warm being there. Staff is great. Prices competitive with a nicer restaurant, but not outrageous. Call ahead and ask about seating availability or get a reservation. One of my favorite places for me and my girlfriend. Enjoy!
Recent visit 6/14/19---went for lunch with girlfriend and another couple. Had the pulled pork sandwich for a change. I was not disappointed! As usual, staff was very friendly and the food was great. Only thing I would ask is that they reduce the use of onions in any dishes that are pre prepared, such as the seafood salad (?) sandwich or some toppings. Some of us can't eat them. It just seemed like they were in lots of the dishes on the menu.
