I always wanted to be a doctor. I believe it was my destiny because my father and his father were doctors. So naturally, I had a positive predisposition towards the medical field. But as I grew up, the more I understood that passing the exams to be a doctor is as important as where I choose to learn. Any university and a reputed university has its differences. So since my tenth grade, I started searching my options.
No matter how much time I spent, every time I came to the same conclusion; St. George's University is the best out there. Many of my teachers and mentors also recommended SGU to study medicine for Indian students. I was on the fence about studying medicine in the Caribbean islands, but once I came across their awesome campus and international facilities, there was nothing more to consider. One of the major perks was MBBS in SGU s Caribbean island campus for Indian students was budget-friendly. I did not want my father to take on a huge loan for the sake of my career. Now that I have successfully completed my doctor s degree, I can assure any aspiring doctors out there that SGU is the best option for you.

I wanna say tht my experience at the st. Georges university campus in grenada was the best me and my co-partner ever had. I cannot say for the entire campus, but we visited the administration department to collect some info on a particular course study, the way tht we were treated by Ms. Donalyn Modeste I must say tht sgu. Did it's best in employing her. Highly praised for a job well done Ms Modeste we could never forget that experience, Keep up the good work. I know tht she know who we are the 2 tht came to collect information on the pre med studies.

For the amount of money people pay to go here, the campus wifi is absolutely trash. Be careful going here if you have love ones at home that you like to FaceTime or stay in touch with. Imagine if you internet went down down during exam time.

I m privately employed and it was my long-term dream to provide a decent education to my daughter. But when she expressed her interest in pursuing a dual degree medicine program, I was concerned about the huge amount of fees and other expenses that might come with it. I wasn t sure if I could manage everything with my salary. However, one of my colleagues suggested that I look into St George s University. They offered doctor's programs in medicine for Indian students.
Another of my concerns was sending my child away. But after going there and being on the campus, I did not think twice about it. St George s University is one of the top medical colleges in the Caribbean. Their campus is of international standards, the teachers are really friendly, all the facilities are top-notch. All in all, I felt relieved that I made the right decision for my child s education. I d say St George s University is the best option for MBBS in Caribbean islands for Indian students. The whole expense including tuition and stay never exceeded my budget expectations either. So I thank SGU for everything you have given us. For a middle-class family from India, SGU is easily the best option to study medicine in the Caribbean islands.

I am a doctor in a well-known hospital, and I have always wanted my daughter to make her career in the same field. I was very open to her regarding her career choices since the time she entered high school. When she was in +2, she came to me and said that she wants to pursue a dual degree medicine program from a top medical college in the Caribbean.
We got to know about St. George s University Medical School from one of our family friends. They provide medical degree programs. When I went through their website for more information, I was so impressed to find out they give globally recognised degrees, which are accredited by the Medical Council of India and are listed under the World Health Organisation. My daughter applied for the next batch, and now she is in her final year. Today when she calls and tells us about her exciting stories, we become so overwhelmed to have taken the best decision for her career.

I sat through the first week of med school there with my daughter. Basic science lectures were good enough for American standards. Faculty was not superb but adequate. Do not expect any Nobel laureates there. The anatomy lab was very poor. It did not provide a physiology lab with life dogs. At UCSF 4 students dissect a cadaver. There a thousand students share two. My daughter finished tops and entered SUNY Buffalo for internal medicine and USC for Hem/Onc. She spent her last two years at various U.S. teaching hospitals, typically non-university small community programs. By law they were all "University-affiliates", but teaching was poor by real university standards. They typically did not have a full complement of all specialties. Most of them were residency programs filled by foreign grads or the bottom students from U.S med schools. Clinical teaching, to apply basic science to diagnosis and treatment, was poor in quality and scant in quantity. Knowing their vulnerability those places treat SGU students as cheap labor for scut work, occupying most of the time. While my daughter was being abused as a scut monkey at the Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn Cornell med students rotating through for a respite from high demand clerkships dared to tell the chief, "we are Cornell students and we do not do scut work. We could report to our school and no Cornell students would come, and you would lose your "Cornell-affiliated" status". They also received better attention. My daughter wouldn't dare to say that as she was grateful SGU bought clerkship time for her there. She had an adequate knowledge in the basic sciences but very poor bedside skills. It was obvious as foreign grads from yet other countries in transit or those who could not make it to the US for residency did the bedside teaching, AKA Introduction to Clinical Medicine, at SGU.
Beware of the bleak statistics. It is not as roseate as depicted in a NY Times article. Her year had 600+ students on day 1, another 600+ on day 181, and only 420 sat for graduation, of which 120 were accepted for residencies in the U.S. Twenty were lucky and good enough to be matched with university programs. 300 hundred graduated without US residencies to attend. What happened to the other 800 students who dropped out? Now they have to pay off so much in debt. That year the admission GPA was 3.3 and MCAT above average.
Think twice before you go. Sit-in a med school class at your local med school to get a taste. Could you handle an academic load that is at least 2 times as heavy as undergrad and do well? You might only have time to read through all the material once before exam. Are you dedicated enough to give up almost all of your personal life, and study during all your non-classroom time, meaning 24 hours minus class time, bed time, meal time, quickie sex time, and toilet/shower time, 7 days a week? Are you emotionally mature enough to fight off loneliness, boredom, home-sickness and depression, while maintaining your objective and stay focused? Many SGU students party and drink twice a week, and they would make up the 800 who drop out or fail to graduate. I am grateful for the second chance offered to my daughter who only applied to California med schools with her 3.78 GPA and 80 percentile MCAT, and ended up on the waiting lists at USC and UCLA. She should have waited and reapply. Nice that such a back up option was available. She needed much "home schooling" as a medical doctor. I gladly paid $300,000-plus to "buy" her medical degree. You paid for a Ritz-Carlton but got a Motel 6 is the bottom line. It would serve your needs. The above is an honest opinion, but my personal reference for comparison was UCSF med school, USC, and M.D. Anderson fellowship. BTW SGU has even a public health program, but the campus had 1 billion house flies all over the place to transmit diseases. That attested to their inability to apply knowledge to real life problems.

St. George's university is a great institution. The beautiful campus, diversity of students, faculty and hard working staff, make this university one of the best in the region and the world. The campus is well maintained from structure to landscapes. It's beautiful to behold. There are state of the art science labs, lecture halls, dorms and sporting facilities to help you temporarily divert from the stress of study. You can't go wrong with St. George's University. I gave it 4 stars before, because I thought more can be done locally, but after really thinking it through, there is evidence to prove that a lot is being done...It's a place to visit and a good choice if you are thinking of doing medicine, undergrad or even MBA.

I found SGU med school when I was actively looking out for the Doctor's programs in medicine for Indian students abroad. When I went through the website with my parents, I was amazed and excited at the same time. It was a wonderful experience to take a virtual tour of the campus of the top medical college in the Caribbean.
It provides various medical degree programs and dual degree medicine programs with scholarships for eligible students, which is the best part I believe because studying MBBS in the Caribbean Islands for Indian students is not something that comes in the budget for many. I am in my 3rd year of the program, and I have enjoyed every day of academics and bachelor s life at St. George s University School of Medicine. If someone is looking for an opportunity to pursue a career in medicine, studying medicine in the Caribbean Islands is the best option. The campus is full of life and promotes a diverse culture with a beautiful and student-friendly environment. I would highly recommend SGU med school to all my friends and cousins who look at themselves as a doctor in future.

The staff are very friendly, and the bus system is fantastic and free for students. You can get just about anywhere you need, and two go right to different grocery stores. A wonderful school and great option for future doctors!

I work at an actual university. Whoever does the marketing for this obvious scam school really sucks. They post their posters in every available spot, mostly where it clearly says "for student/teacher use only." That specifically means not some paid goon who puts nine staples in per poster. Nine. They also opened every door and turned on every light in every building to put these posters up. Not cool. I'm a custodian, I had to turn those lights off (again). I had to close those doors (again). I had to use a pair of pliers to pull nine staples out of each poster, 50 or so times for one floor, of one building.
No real university would advertise like this. No real university would make it as impossible to contact the administration as the useless scam website for SGU makes it.

I am so thankful to St. George s University School of Medicine for providing me with an opportunity to pursue a dual degree medicine program. The university is one of the top medical colleges in the Caribbean's with various medical degree programs. The facilities range from affordable accommodation to relaxing and diverse environments, and of course, thrilling and exciting extra-curricular activities to enjoy. With 65+ buildings in the campus located beside the beach, you are never out of ideas to explore. So basically, when you want a nice break from your studies, take a tour to this peaceful campus. It is entirely safe, and there are a few Indian restaurants too, in case one is missing home, can enjoy the desi food flavors at these cafes and restaurants. SGU is a top medical college in the Caribbean which offers a variety of Doctor of Medicine (MD) programs for Indian students.
I am proud to have chosen to study medicine in the Caribbean islands, at SGU School of Medicine.

First 5 months of my last year were so depressing for me when I couldn t qualify my NEET exams. Being from a family of doctors, I was always focused on becoming a doctor with specialisation. After preparing for the exams during those sleepless nights, my ranks were not as expected, which broke me. The level of competition that the medical institutions have now leaves many of us behind. But since I didn t want to drop my year, I started looking out for a top international medical school, and that s when I came across St. George s University.
St. George s University is the top institution in the Caribbean Islands and has various courses in different streams. A branch of it is named as St. George s University, School of Medicine which deals with the medical degree program and is the no. 1 provider of doctors in the entire US workforce. When I came to know that this institution gives opportunity in Doctor of Medicine for Indian students without considering the NEET exam scores, and is recognised by MCI, it was like a new door opened for me. That was the turning point of my career when I decided to study in this top medical college in the Caribbean.
Now I am in my 2nd year of MD degree program, and I am proud to be a part of SGU and its culture.

My husband is a medical student at SGU and we are ...
My husband is a medical student at SGU and we are almost done our time in Grenada. We have 4 children, all girls, 2 of which are teenagers. I would not recommend families moving to Grenada. Even though my husband is doing very well and has been on the Dean's list every term, it has been difficult for our family to live here. I rarely take my girls out to where locals are because they are constantly hit on, cat called, and approached by local men of all ages, despite the fact that we dress very modestly and keep to ourselves. We purchased horse riding lessons from a seemingly nice Grenada fellow who works with the University vet students for our most soft-spoken daughter for her birthday, and at the 3rd lesson the man who is more than twice her age came onto her and told her not to tell, so now we are dealing with court issues, and it's miserable and horribly drawn out and traumatic for all of us. Food is very expensive, so in the almost 2 years we have lived here we have taken our family out to a restaurant once. Grocery shopping is as expensive as eating out all the time back in America, and we can rarely afford meat. We homeschool all our children here because it's a much better education at home than what they would get in any of the local schools, and they would have charged us thousands of dollars to enroll our kids because tuition for non locals is way way higher. The public library is near impossible to find, but there is a 3 level little hidden house full of books downtown, but no parking. Many of the local men especially are very bossy and frequently on power trips and often treat anyone who looks American like they don't know what they are doing. The beaches are beautiful, and we often go to the quieter ones where less people go and those days are wonderful. My husband is going to be a doctor, so this is a means to an end... But if you have children, especially girls, take any other option for medical/vet school that you can. The tuition is huge, and it's a hard experience. Definitely pray about it before you come.

SGU 's level of teaching is great, the institution has a keen interest in the development of students from all over the world. The reason for giving such high ratings is, the school tries to incorporate a piece of every countries' culture, represented by hosting activities relating to same, encouraging cooperation and helping students to be comfortable within the learning environment. The school uses an integrated approach to learning, through theoretical and practical teaching and training. This approach can assist students not only in their chosen fields but in their holistic development.
