I went on New Year s Eve and had the absolute worse experience. The doctors are fine but the nurses and technicians and beyond rude. My nurse Linda (I cannot forget her name) has no regard for the fact that I could not walk. Didn t offer to bring me a wheelchair just walked extremely fast and seemed annoyed with my overall presence. She didn t introduce herself when coming into the room and she rushed me while I tried to give her my symptoms. I know nurses have a hard job as it is so I tried my best to be nice and respectful the entire time, even with as rude as she was being. Now I m a young African American woman and it seemed like the moment she saw me she didn t want to service me whatsoever. When it was time to administer a pain relief shot, she asked me where do you want it? I told her the arm because it may hurt less. She then replies it s better in the hip. Turn over. With literally no emotion. Which I don t understand why she gave me the choice. So she shoots me and it was SO painful. As I groaned she chuckles and says RUB IT. While processing to walk straight out. At this point I am so overwhelmed and upset. They didn t even diagnose me. She gives me pain pills and doesn t tell me I need to have something in my stomach so I start vomiting uncontrollably. She tells me well you didn t say you haven t eaten. That s clearly the reason you re throwing up. So I ask for crackers and water. She brings crackers and tells me I don t need water and that I can go. I was so enraged with my service. I ended up going to another hospital two days later to find out I have gall stones and needed surgery. I will never return to this hospital solely because of that nurse. Completely unbelievable.

you do not exit this hospital alive. You can go in to this hospital sick and released from this hospital still sick do not come out well. They wrong diagnose and do not know how to take care of their patients.
A family member of mine had an allergic reaction I decided to call Seton for advice about where to go for the situation. The operator was rude and offered no help, but mansplained the difference between the names of medical buildings.
Please save your life and your time and do not go to Seton Hays inless it is the absolute last resort! Visits are in chronological order:
1. i went to Seton Hays was with a high fever of 103 and a handful of other symptoms. i was seen within 3hrs and was given Tylenol while waiting. very polite.
2. My son (a toddler) was having a severe allergic reaction after trying peanuts for the first time. He was lethargic, 104deg fever, vomiting, in and out of consciousness.... they gave us a vomit bag and said we would be right back. 3 hrs later they finally took his vitals a fever of 102. they said take a seat in the waiting room. 3 hrs passed and asked if they could see my son yet. they told me no but soon. another hr1 passed and i demanded something for my son to be done. they kept saying soon but hrs passed as my 1yr old son passed in and out of consciousness, crying and vomiting. we were there a total of 8 and 1/2hrs before they gave us room. they gave him anti-nausea and made us wait another dam 1hr. by that time he had vomited everything up that made him sick. He started to feel better but was still lethargic. they handed us an JR epipen script and told us to go home. Went to fill the prescript and decided to cancel the prescript with out telling us.
3. i was in a serious car accident. my car looked like an accordion. My seat broke in half and my trunk was shoved into my back seat. Ambulance from Seton Hays couldnt tell if i was hurt enough to go to the hospital do to the adrenalin so they told me give it 24hrs. Called Seton the next day because my left side was a mix between numb and pain. they told me to drive there and they would see me because car accidents are a "level 5 emergency" i sat in the waiting room for 6hrs. the gave me a bed in a hallway!!! they rolled me into the hallway!!!!! started to give me IV's and i waited for 3 more hrs in a hospital robe IN THE HALLWAY no privacy and im sure everyone that day saw my butt crack. Finally the gave me a pain killer called dilaudid which did nothing but make me feel cold. after 45min a finally got the CT scans and X-rays i needed. this make 9hrs and 45min i have been here. they placed me back in the hallway..... i waited and waited and waited where they gave me more dilaudid after another hour. making it 10hr 45min. xrays came back and CT's they told me it was muscle related and i can just drive home now. after 2 doses of pain killers which didnt kill the pain they wanted me to just drive home.
4. My sister is a high risk pregnancy and was having symptoms of contractions but she was only 7months. so we waited to see if it would pass but it only got worse and she was having shortness of breath. called her ob and there was no dr or personnel available so they referred us to Seton hays since its the closest hospital and ER. they got her in back in less than 45min after getting her information. Nurse on staff was rude. Dr. was nice. they failed at putting in her IV several times and blew a vein. after blowing a vein the nurse just tapped the wound with out putting pressure. she began to bleed down her arm. after getting her attention the nurse rolled her eyes and with out gloves wiped up the blood and stood there putting pressure with an attitude. They told her that her OBGYN should have seen her there was no reason for her to be at Seton hays and that she was better off going to Austin because her ob does'nt come to seton hays. Didnt ask any significant or important questions about the high risk pregnancy just ignored us when we explaining what was going on. VERY RUDE. this happened just yesterday as well.
Never had any bad experience but the emergency room parking lot is so dark half the lights are burned out .It does not make for a save environment . Especially for women walking alone like myself .
Never have I ever felt so disrespected. The nurses were complaining about the patients who may not be as sick as they feel and having to work when they (nurses) are sick. I was there for 3 hours and heard every patients issue that was coming in. All I went in for was to make sure I didn't have a knee break. It was not so I was patiently waiting for 3.5 hrs. I heard the nurse state outloud "why does the patient need a immobilizer or crutches; with a perfectly good xray?" The other nurse said, "patient satisfaction." That other nurse said, " well they will be satisfied with how much their bill is." I knew they were talking about me because about 15 minutes before the nurse got snarky with my husband when he asked for an update. When she came in with the crutches; that solidified my initial belief...she was talking about me. That shouldn't surprise me since those two were hacking to eachother about everyone else as well. I will be placing a formal complaint. Horrible horrible service.
My 96 yar old mother with a history of a stroke was taken to the ER with a BP of 213/88, literally noyjing was done. She was a dose of her normal BP medication and told she had to be moved into the hallway(A clear JAACHO violation) where she would be monitored. Her B/P was nevre taken again and the MD told her she wasn't concerned and to call her cardiologist in the morning. After sitting for 2 hours in the hallway, she was told her lab needed to be drawn again since the first sample never made to the lab, in other words got lost. This place absolutely has the worst care I have ever seen, it should be throughly invested by JAACHO and by the Texas Department of Health. I wouldn't send my dog to this place for care.
If i can put 0 stars i would. Lets start with the nurses in front. Ridiculous. They act above one. Not one smile not one hello. Honestly why come to work and work the front desk if you are so depressed.. Even when i have bought my 2 children they aren't even a little nice nor a smile. Also this man ask the lady where do i put my urine? She says idk. Then he proceeds to leave it on the counter, and what does she do? Well she looks at the urine and is disgusted by it. Well what are you doing working in a hospital.. Doctors on the other hand only some are great. Not all. I say i seen bad reviews on here but not one thing has been done. Have the people here be polite. Show them a smile. And to not treat US as if we were filthy.. You never know we can surprise you and be better and have way more..
2-1-2018 Here again at the hospital! Sucks! Dam doctor don t know nothing! You can clearly see i have a huge Node and he says it is my tooth! When my tooth dont hurt and i have been sick! To top it off not one nurse came in! He is working solo and they threw me to him not caring! He says he dont see nothing swollen and! How u not going to see! It is huge! Then when touching it he is touching my cheeks! Really its on my throat! This place never will be even a 3 stars! Come on just shut this place down! What are you all here for if you can t tend to no one!
Maternity nurses are way to rough with newborn babies toss them around not holding their heads , yanking clothes and blankets off! These are babies not dolls have some compassion ! Having rude remarks they need to keep they're ridiculous comments to themselves and just do their job's , there was a older Caucasian nurse with glasses who was very rude and obnoxious I couldn't wait for shift change!!!
Do NOT go to this hospital if you want your pain or concern to be diagnosed or fixed. after 9 hours at the ER they took blood and urine and that was it. I was in severe pain and told them I don't feel comfortable going home but the woman doctor said that she DID feel comfortable and it wasn't anything life threatening so she was letting me go. My husband reminded her that the urgent care said it may be my gallbladder so we're they going to do a scan? She said oh yeah I forgot and ordered it. Hours later they did the scan and hours more they came with the results. Meanwhile my alarm went off 5 times for my oxygen levels and the nurse never noticed. One time she came in and said someone said your alarm is going off but it had stopped already so she walked back out. I had to pee so I got dressed since they weren't doing anything anyway, took off the pulse thing and blood pressure cuff and went to the bathroom. I saw her chatting with other nurses. No one noticed me. I took my baby here once and I will not be going again. And they're charging me so much for doing absolutely nothing. I left exactly the way I came in. The doctor asked me like two questions. She was awful. I also heard them telling several other patients they didn't find anything so they are sending them home. The second nurse I had told me that I should follow up with my doctor and told me that my doctor will probably be sending me right back to the ER!!! WHAT?!?!
do not go to the hospital they say you die before they can see you for emergency I came over here with my friends with a huge pain in his stomach it's been 4 hours and nobody can see him well yes because I'm Spanish
My experience here was horrendous. I was transferred by ambulance to seton from Baylor Scott and White (BSW) emergency room to get an emergency dose of methotrexate for my ectopic pregnancy because Baylor didn t have the dose available immediately and they were very worried about me rupturing very soon. I got to Seton, was put in a small shared room with a woman who was projectile vomiting every 30seconds with just a cloth divider between our beds (during covid no less). They completely ignored me for 4 hours. No blanket, no water, no bathroom, NO EXAM. They dr came in after looking at the labs and ultrasounds from Baylor Scott and White (BSW) and said he disagreed with the previous hospitals findings and refused to give me the methotrexate based on their findings. He wanted to REDO all the labs I just had done mere hours before and then wait 48hours more to then have me come back to the EMERGENCY ROOM for more tests before deciding if I needed the dose or not. I told him that the previous hospital had come to the conclusion that this was a clear cut case of ectopic pregnancy, and that my life was at risk to wait any longer. I told him I felt unsafe and unheard at seton and that I wanted to do my follow up blood work at a dr office, and not in the emergency room. He continued to talk in circles and tried to undermine the credibility of the previous hospital and dr. At that point I realized they were trying to milk me and my insurance for as much $ as they could get out of me. They brought me an estimated bill of $6000 before the doctor had even seen or touched me. I told him I wanted to sign the ADA and be released immediately. It was at this point that he even touched me for the first time, suddenly being a dr trying to actually examine me after I ve said I want to leave. In the 4 hours I was there they did nothing but sow doubt, confusion and panic. I left and a got an emergency appointment the following day with a Baylor Scott and White obgyn. She confirmed the ectopic pregnancy and sent me over to BSW to get the methotrexate shot IMMEDIATELY. Had I not trusted my gut while at Seton and left that disgusting place to seek other care with doctors who listened to me and had my beat interest at heart at BSW- I could be dead right now. If you can avoid going to Seton Hays- Do it. Go to BSW!
I got here at 10am lobby was empty so I got back quick, wasn't seen until at least 30 minutes if not more into being back there. I was given meds and still wasnt feeling well, was told I couldn't eat until something was figured out so I accepted that. 2 hours went by and still nothing.... come 1pm I'm starved (pregnant)I hadn't eaten since yesterday so when the meds kicked in I was really hungry so I call for a doctor at exactly 2pm was told one was coming back but yet again come 2:35pm I'm still sitting there waiting. So I get out of bed and go talk to some one and am told if I'm kept longer they'll get me lunch. I didn't mean to sound rude but I have never waited 5 hours for test results that take at least 45-60 minutes long and to top it off I walked out of there with no test results!!!
Woke up Friday with swollen blistered lips, called my dermatologist and was prescribed a steroid cream that I couldn't pick up because I was out of town. Went to this ER on Saturday because the situation had gotten so much worse with blisters covering my lips due to a reaction from an acne medication. They were extremely painful and scabbing with a foul smell (all the signs of infection). After waiting about an hour, the nurse said they might give me a steroid shot. The doctor came in about 30 minutes later, tugged on my painfully swollen lips and said "They don't look infected." She came back another 30 minutes later and prescribed me AQUAPHOR, as if I hadn't already been using that religiously. I asked if I should use the steroid cream my derm prescribed and she said "OH yeah, that might be helpful." Wish she would have thought of that herself. I left after over 2 hours and over $200 completely wasted for them to tell me to do something I had already been doing, lips still in pain, swollen and infected. Showed my dermatologist pictures of my lips today and she said she couldn't believe a doctor would say they're not infected. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.
Time for sift change and the so called nurse was a incompetent never should be a nurse and she was supposed to be training someone and left him alone to attend to me. He had to keep leaving to find her and ask questions he was also left to give me my medicine without her there to watch him. And dismissed the fact I asked for my breathing treatment early because I was having trouble breathing. When the trainee asked her about she said they had a schedule to keep and they would be there around 9and that I had to wait. I will never go back there if I can can help it.
Went in two days before Thanksgiving! Had great care by the staff but misdiagnosed! Was in terrible pain was told it sounded like kidney stones. Did a scan said it was all clear so I must have passed it! Pain pills and sent home! Had to go back Friday after was still in great pain! Got treated like crap by the staff! Was told it sounded like kidney stones! Told them no it was not because thats what they checked for before! Several hours later with no one checking on me finally went out to say something! Waited another hour then the nurse came in with an attitude! Was told I had a really bad kidney infection and was given IV antibiotic! Called to complain! Just got a call back and was told "the medical Director " reviewed my case and amazing there was no infection indicated on my first vist pee test! Yet less than 3 days later had to have IV! Yeah I believe that! Looks like they are just out for your money and not ur well being!
They suck here, not attentive what so ever. Took 45 minutes to get registered in er and only 4 people in the waiting room. Nothing beats the Austin hospital!
The nurses were very attentive to my Mom. The hospital is very clean and staff very professional. I didn't give 4 stars, because the food service is not good Most meals were cold. The food at Seton in Smithville is 100% better. If this gets better I will give 4 stars
This hospital is the worst! I went there years ago and left without being treated after hours of waiting. Yeaterday my father was taken there by ambulance because of a stroke. By the time I arrived they were releasing him. The doctor said that he was going to continue to have strokes since he's on blood thinners and to just keep an eye on him. He went on to say "we're not going to do anything if he stays here, just watch him...if the stroke lasts more than 30 minutes then bring him back." He had another stroke 15minutes later, we called Seton on 38th in Austin and told them about Seton Kyle, they immediately reccomended we taken him there. He's now in the ICU at Seton. They saw a stroke during his MRI, his BP was through the roof and blood sugar was way low. Seton Kyle risked my dad's life by making a poor, uncaring and uneducated judgment call and they'll be lucky if we don't sue!
Went in for side pains twice. The first time they gave me pain meds and I laid in the room for hours then was sent home with a prescription but no diagnosis. The second time I went back was the next day for the same issue. Staff was friendly but they seemed confused and were not communicating well with each other about my issues. Repeatedly asking me the same questions and asking me why the doctor wanted a certain test or treatment. My doctor had called ahead of time to let them know what I needed but I guess they did not get it. I did not feel confident in the care that I was given as they never seemed to know what was going on with me. Hope to not be going back there any time soon.
I would give 0 stars if possible... We had a terrible experience at Seton Hays after rushing our daughter there when she starting having seizures. She was just a few weeks post-partum and it could have been a life-threatening issue. My daughter was rushed into triage and into an ER room but after that she was ignored for HOURS and she continued to have seizures. It was so frustrating! It would have been nice if they would have told us up front that they did not have the proper equipment to monitor her-- we could have easily driven 20 minutes away to a hospital that could have helped us sooner. We spent from 8pm until 2pm the next day in the ER before she was admitted and ANY monitoring happened. When she finally saw a Dr he was arrogant and demeaning-- she asked him to leave and he threatened her with a 72 psych hold!!! Nurses would stand around talking about weekend plans while our daughter seized... it was terrible. We were there DAYS longer than we needed to be-- we felt like we were being held hostage. I'm sure the bills will be horrible too. We did leave a message with their special number -- one week later and no reply. They just do not care.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I have taken my daughter a total of three times to this hospital because she s sick. First time they said she didn t have anything. Second time they diagnosed her by simply listening to her lungs and yet my daughter was still miserable. Third time (today) they did the same thing. My 11 month old has been running a fever, coughing super bad and runny nose. All they said was to monitor her fever. I ve taken her to another clinic and my daughter was diagnosed with double ear infection. Thank you Seton for doing absolutely NOTHING.
Where do I begin?! Rude staff, the only people that are worthy of the paychecks they get are the doctors. The nurses are horrible people that only care about the latest gossip topic. It's quite pathetic when I get better service from a bar than I do in a hospital that is supposed to heal! I have been misdiagnosed twice upon going to this facility. I had pain just above the right side of my abdomen and they told me both times that they could not find out what was causing my pain. I went to my dad's in AZ - he took me to the hospital and it was my gallbladder going out. The pain was being caused by gall stones. Here it is a year later and not a darn thing has changed! My son had to get stitches in his forehead. Dr. Ou did wonderful with him! I was told to bring him back in to have the stitches removed. Five days later, I took my son back to the same ER to have them removed as directed. In the process of removing them - the red head that took the stitches out, didn't give him any type of numbing agent. On top of the fact that she didn't cut two out of three stitches correctly. She wound up having to pull his eyebrow forward in order to get UNDERNEATH the two stitches with the scissors that she used incorrectly. I will never go to this facility again.
Wonderful experience with the ER department. Took my needs seriously and was assisted in a timely manner. The team that did my emergency endoscopy were very informative and clear about what was going to happen. The registration system via cell phone crashed on me once and I had to start over but overall very pleased with my experience.
My Father was rushed into the ER after his fistula opened up, he had blood everywhere, they never cleaned him up sent him home just like that. They never asked if he needed anything, nor did they ever asked how he was feeling. They wrapped his arm up and sent him on his way. Please do not seek medical attention here.
E r is horrible, never took care of the simple issue I went in for, said I was welcome to come back so they could try again. Worthless! It's worth the drive to San Marcos to CTMC
I am grateful to the paramedics and ambulance staff in San Marcos for their help and kindness when I needed help! What phenomenal care I received! The Seton ER staff was also awesome! I super appreciate the doctor and nurses and staff that took care of me! Thank you all for your fantastic care!
This was the best hospital! The nurses, doctors and staff all showed such compassion during my husband's stay there. He was in ICU and not expected to live. Everyone was so accommodating during this time and they helped in any way they could to make everyone comfortable. There was a priest and chaplain available for Last Rites or just a kind prayer. When my husband passed, since he had been in the military in his early life, they draped his body with an American Flag and had Taps on the loud speaker as they took him to the funeral home. The family and staff lined up downstairs for the send off. Thank you so much Ascension Seton Hays Hospital and Staff!
Worst hospital I have ever been to. The staff in the ER are rude and have no concern or care about the patient's. We repeatedly reported to the doctor and nursing staff that my husband was in severe pain, the doctor ignored us why she worked on sprinkling craft glitter on staff Christmas stockings in her work area. We were not helped, we walk out with the same problems that we came in with. I would not recommend this hospital at all! 4 hours waisted!
My 82 year old mother broke her arm & was taken to the ER on 7/30/16 around 8:00/8:30 pm. As the nurses were helping her on the bed, my mother screamed in pain & told Janet (short, dirty-blond hair) "You pulled my arm!" Janet looked at the other nurse & said, "I didn't pull her arm," while rolling her eyes like my mother was crazy. I have never witnessed such uncaring, unprofessional behavior by a nurse in my life. After Janet was done, the young Hispanic girl who came in to help my mother get ready to leave was very abrupt & couldn't get us out of there fast enough. I will never go back to this place.
My grandpa was there I am not to happy with this place how dare you call the cops on him to be remove he didn't do nothing wrong y'all just wanted to get him out of there my grandpa got no help from this place he has a big knot in his stomach and in a lot of pain I will not send my grandpa back to them
From the ER, to Surgery, to Inpatient Care we had the best experience in any hospital we have used. The staff were responsive in a very timely manner, the handoff between nurses and doctors was thorough and the transition smooth. The nurses on the 5th floor could not have been better, and the equipment was top notch. The staff actually wrote on the information board names and numbers every day, for every change. The head of housekeeping actually visited to let us know that any time day or night we could call for service and not to wait. The staff actually were enjoying their jobs, and their cheerfulness made a terrible situation for us bearable. I have been in the hospital many times, and I have even worked in one, this one ran the way a hospital should run. I don t know why there was a low rating, but I saw staff following protocol and making us feel cared about.
They hate me here. I have lupus amongst other conditions But every time I come here I feel worse by the time I leave I feel disregarded due to my pre existing conditions When I come to the ER it s because I m in need of medical attention Not to be dismissed or blown off Nurses are kind I m not sure the doctors follow proper Emergency Department procedures I just hate it s the only hospital in Kyle
I have visited this place twice, one took my little brother to the ER for breathing problems at midnight and he was quickly taken in and examined by a very attentive nurse 5 stars on that, the second visit I came in with my dad who had welder's flash and a swollen face, came in past midnight again and there were no rooms, the receptionist kept asking though and I felt she really cared about his pain, after a few minutes she gets a hold of a clean room and we go in, after 20 minutes a doctor comes in and fiddles with this machine shining a bright light to look for possible metal fragments in his eyes, after getting the clear we are free to go. 3 stars on this one for the surprisingly long 20 minute wait for small town kyle texas past midnight. Both times I left my car in the emergency entrance and was told that was fine for short term.
First, I can not recommend the nursing staff, internists, OBs and care providers at Ascension Seton Hays strongly enough. They were attentive, reassuring and truly caring individuals in Labor and Delivery. Between the lactation consultants, nurses, and extra care when my wife had chest pain I was thoroughly impressed. Not only that, but the room was spacious, welcoming and they had meals for the father and mother; unlike most hospitals. If the Hospital s staff only encompassed them I would provide five stars without reservation and trust them with my family s care.
However, when registration came in I clearly explained our children are on my insurance plan, gave her my separate card, and not my wife s. Registration appeared unable to comprehend families don t all have to be on the same insurance plan and said newborns could only be on the mother s plan. I called my insurance company and explained the situation and they stated a newborn can be placed on either parent s plan for hospital billing and they had never had a hospital tell them that before. I offered for the registration employee requesting payment to speak to my insurance company on the phone which she stated she would not. I told her I would not pay based on my wife s insurance rates versus mine and that my other children are on. We were discharged and I left not paying my account, after offering too if processed correctly.
Two weeks later I went to Ascension to pay my wife s bills and my son s. I paid my wife s and was told they hadn t processed my son s bill yet and they hadn t retained my insurance info for him. I asked for them to process it there so I could pay and was told it would take 45 business days to process. I asked how it would take 45 days when they were willing to request and accept payment prior to discharge and she did not have an answer. I was advised then to call the main Seton billing office which I did.
I called and spoke to a condescending women named Tiffany. Tiffany said she could not discus my son s account with me because I was not the mother and not the guarantor. I explained to her that I was listed on all documents and had signed all admissions documents as the guarantor for both my wife and son, am the legal father of my child, provided all relevant power of attorneys and trust documents to admissions, and am trying to pay his hospital bill. Again, Tiffany said since I did not give birth to my son I do not have a legal right to his information. Tiffany seemed unable to comprehend that I signed the financial guarantor paperwork or that the father of the child has the same legal rights as the mother. Nor that the on site staff had no issue speaking to me five minutes prior. It is appalling that a hospital bureaucrat would imply a father does not have the same legal rights as the mother and discriminatory. I then requested to speak with a supervisor and in a mocking tone was advised a supervisor would call me back. I offered to wait on the phone for a supervisor as I did not trust my request to be submitted due to her tone. I was again advised a supervisor will call me back in 2 to 3 business days which is absurdity and shows a lack of employee accountability. I asked for the name of Tiffany s supervisor and was told she has multiple supervisors and could not provide me one. Eventually Tiffany said her supervisor was Miguel.
In the day of age when hospitals notoriously have trouble getting paid it is absurdity bordering on comedy that they are so incompetent at it. I will update this if Seton responds.
The nurse that attended us was unorganized and not on schedule she was extremely forgetful... we have people with serious illnesses for this type of poor quality nurses even one of the doctors made it awkward when he told her " I asked for that sample an hour ago"
I see alot of people had bad experiences but I recently had to go to the er twice... First time I took my husband who is a diabetic and was in dka which is a potentially life threatening condition and they were very fast and efficient in confirming that he was in dka and getting him up to the ICU which was equally great. More recently I took my one year old in the nurses were absolutely fantastic, the doctor was very informative and respectful and answered the many questions and concerns I had. I know it's not easy dealing with a screaming, squirming one year old and his panicked worried mother but they all were very kind and once again got us taken care of fairly quickly.
First impression of this Hospital was not good for me. My time in the waiting room was 2 & 1/2 hours, and as I was waiting I noticed they were taking the not so sick patients first & then myself & the other really sick patients back last. Very unprofessional. Then I got an IV done by a nurse that didn't know what she was doing. Finally got a nurse that knew what she was doing. Overall experience not very good!
Listen when we come to the ER by an ambulance we must be sick right? Your nurses great and the care upfront with the doctor good too. But they did not do any testing except for blood count. So the pain is still awful and I feel Awful! I went to my very best doctor who did order labs and a scan of abdominal. You see I have a rare disease that can cause issues. Next time I am not using Kyle ER. I am going to Seton main where my doctors are and know me.
Worst hospital ever. Staff was very unfriendly and unprofessional, talking about inappropriate things. Waited 3 hrs to just get a room and another hr before a nurse visited me. Poor hospital! Will be going down to the hospitals in Austin from now on!
Horrible service get here at 6pmy and it's 8:30pm and still waiting so many other patients come in after myself. Everyone got called in first so called nurse practitioner apperently has the say so who is next to get a room. Very very slow service I think this is a Zombie hospital.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Wife had severe stomachache so the drew blood to see what was going on. She was crying because of the pain for 4 hours and I repeatedly asked what are they doing because they hadn't given her anything for the pain. They also never gave us any update on the blood work. I finally had enough and said we were leaving and pulled my wife off the bed to go elsewhere. The nurse said you can't do that and I said watch me. The head nurse told us that they couldn't give her anything because they didn't have the results from the blood work. He also mentioned that their lab was down and he didn't know how long it would take to fix it. I was furious, they left her there for 4 hours and failed to tell us the lab was down. I took her to San Marcos and they diagnosed ulcers in 30 minute. They also gave her medicine for the pain within the 30 minutes to relieve the pain. I had another incident with my daughter but that's another story. I would highly advise anyone to stay away from the emergency services. Their emergency services are the absolute worst I have ever experienced.
I am an RN with a Master s Degree & was also an APRN for 10 years. Recently, I was sent to the ER by my PCP's office. When I arrived at Ascension Seton Hays County, the waiting room was not overly crowded, & I was optimistic for a quick visit. I made sure to confirm that not only the hospital but all related to my stay would be in-network with my medical insurance. I did not want anyone involved in my care who was not in-network. After triage, I was told to sit again in the waiting room. Since I had to use the bathroom, I was directed to collect a sample. Sitting in the waiting room holding a container of urine on my lap was embarrassing. When I was called, I was led to a stretcher in the hallway. That is where I remained throughout my care from assessment through treatment through discharge. In nursing school, I was taught to introduce myself by name and role to each patient, for instance, Hi. I m Sandra, & I will be your nurse today. I consistently did this throughout my career regardless if I was wearing a name tag or ID, & I strongly believe that every provider in healthcare should do the same, from technicians to nurses to physicians. During my visit at Seton s ER, some staff did introduce themselves to me such as the triage nurse & the ER doctor. However, there were others who did not. The patient in the room next to my stretcher was obviously dying. Family members sat next to & stood near my stretcher. I felt like I was intruding on their grief. As a caring person, I wanted to reach out & provide support, but I kept quiet since I really should not have even been aware of what was going on with them and the patient. At another point, I heard a commotion going on behind the head of my stretcher. It was not particularly loud, but I heard security involved, and I felt frightened. I did not dare turn around to see what was going on, but I did watch as security walked a man in handcuffs down the hallway. I hope I had not been in any danger. When my IV was removed, a band-aid was placed in my antecubital space where the IV had been located. Shortly after, I noticed my arm felt wet and cold. I looked down and saw that I was bleeding profusely & that my beloved sweater was getting soaked with bright red. A nurse (well, I assume she was a nurse; she never introduced herself) brought over a bottle of hydrogen peroxide & a stack of gauze to remove the blood. She started the process pouring the peroxide on my sweater, but it would take a while to remove such a quantity of blood, so she left me with the supplies to continue working on it myself. Finally, I got my sweater mostly clean, but I was very wet and uncomfortable. It was taking a long time to get final lab results, & then I learned that the lab had lost my specimen! How does that even happen? Is the lab not in the same building? A mishap like that does not instill confidence. Hopefully the lab does not also accidentally mix up samples or misread them or misreport them.I spent almost 4 hours at the ER to have a few simple tests done (no imaging) and a medication administered (a push, not a slow drip). It was not like the ER was chaotic. In fact, I watched many staff sitting behind the desk for much of my time there.Close to the time of my discharge, I was approached to sign a consent to treatment. It seemed quite late to be asking for that. I was feeling so frustrated by that point that I signed the various forms without reading anything. I was also told that with insurance I owed $*** just for walking into the ER (the amount did not include tests, etc.). She wanted to collect money right there on the spot. I handed over my credit card, thinking this trip to was the biggest waste of money and time I could have imagined. I dread thinking about the remainder of my bill still yet to come.Every staff member I encountered was nice, & I appreciate them. Still, I would not recommend Ascension Seton Hays ER in Kyle. Obviously, I strive & wish for good health and hope I never have to go to an emergency room again. However, if I do, I will first check into my other options.
I just wanted to thank Dr Moreland and the nurses for their kind hospitality today my mom and I were in a wreck earlier today and we were transported there! They went above and beyond to keep us both informed of the other and made sure we were comfortable! Thank you for everything today! Greatly appreciated!
They are horrible. It took three nurses to find a vein to insert an IV. So they stuck me three times in one arm and twice in the other. Finally a nurse found a vien that wasn't ROLLING. I sat in the ER for two hours just to hear " everything is find, give it a few days and your blood pressure will go down" I left the hospital with blood pressure still extremely high 166 over 113
Worst ER ever, dont even bother coming here, specially in the nights, they told us to leave because a child was just had a stomach inffection, we took him somewhere else and the poor kid had a appendecitis.
ER is total crap. Honestly just call 911 you'll get treated faster. My sister was having pregnancy problems, we waited 4 HOURS for her to be taken care of. Apparently they only have 4 rooms available for ER patients, unbelievable. I don't think people should be treated in the order they come in, they definitely need to sort their stuff out. People should be taken care of depending on how severe their condition is. Anyways my sister had surgery done today, for personal reasons I wasn't able to go with her. Called the hospital to know how she's doing, they say that the computer doesn't show her being in surgery or the recovery room. My call is sent to the recovery room, sure enough she's there and okay. Call again later, the computer still says that she's not in surgery or recovery room smh. I set the lady straight, she said she's changing the info on the computer, redirects my call to the recovery room again, I let it ring for quite a while. No one answers. I hang up, call the hospital two more times, same results. At the third time my call was redirected a machine answered. You can understand how pissed and frustrated i am right now!! Why was my sisters info not entered in the computer?! Even after I told the lady over the phone! You would think after all these bad reviews the hospital would have staff meeting on how to make better changes.
It's bad care and slow to get patients in. It's took 3 hours just to see anyone when it was slow and no one in the hospital. Very bad care for everyone that comes in here. I would never come here again for anything. And I have cancer. You can't just have one doctor in the whole ER to see all the patients. Very bad care. And everyone stay away from this place. If you dont have insurance you wait forever until they meet there number even in the Emergency room i have already waited 3 hours with a tube in you arm in the waiting room
Hate to make this a racial issue but the majority of the Caucasian nurses are rude. We have taken my brother twice for mental health related issues (voluntarily and involuntarily) and both times they have treated my family as if our situation is a joke and we are a hindrance. I understand that it is not easy working in a hospital and you might not have the right resources to handle these situations but show some empathy and don't be rude when people are simply asking for information.
Horrible hospital! Staff treat you bad, as if I owed them something. I had a 9:00 ER appointment and all they could say was they are doing cpr on someone. Do they only have one medical team? Smh ridiculous After sitting in the ER for an hour hunched over in pain I decided to go to Another hospital. There service is bad. What happened to Hippa? Telling everyone that they had a case of CPR going on in the back while another worker came out saying "it took 20 people to do cpr". Smh while the patients family was right outside the waiting area. Way to go Seton, if you don't like your job then move on and stop treating sick people as if we owed you all the job that us "insured people" allow for you to receive a paycheck.
ER visit was quick and efficient. Staff kept us informed and were courteous. Excellent assessment and diagnostic skills. This will always be my hospital of choice.
Great staff in the ER....RAELLY NICE, GOT TO A ROOM FAST AND MY DOCTOR was really nice and profetional...her name is doctor marsillo and rayes clinacl asstist helpful as well
Went here today. I frequent ERs with my heart patient daughter so I'm fully aware at how long a wait can be. However I got there at 9am. And say there an hour got called for vitals and let them know I had an active bleed and needed help. I watched every single person in there go ahead, then every person after me go back. 3 hours in they had me register again sitting there with an active colon bleed. Asked how long they said they couldn't tell me. At the 5 1/2 he Mark I left very frustrated still bleeding feeling completely ignored. I went home cleaned up and drive all the way to round rock hospital. I was triaged immediatly, and speaking with a doctor within 30 mins. 2 hours and was released with a treatment plan... Maybe I was ignored for lack of insurance, I know they take people in the order of severity. However how severe was the guy up playing with his kid, getting snacks and soda from the vending machine and a big smile on his face. Oh wait a family member/ friend worked there and came out 3 times to see them. And they were called before me.... Bad bad bad I am reporting them. Unacceptable.
My whole family has been here from stays to er visits to delivering my babies and the over all experience throughout the years has been wonderful. Yes there are days were the wait is long or it takes forever to be seen but a lot of people go into this place so you can not just expect to be seen right away. My only complaint would be about some of the nurses, there have been times were we have gone and the nurse we have gotten was a bit rude. The other day i took my mom in and it was quite busy, there was a kid there that needed to be swabbed for strep, he was crying because he was scared to be swabbed while i get that it was very busy and the nurse must have had a long day there was no need for her to be yelling at the kid the way she was, it is the parent's job and the nurses job to reassure and calm down the child not get frustrated and yell at him.
Went in with my in law for a HEAD injury waited about an hour and half and she still hadn t been seen. We asked how much longer because she was bleeding from her head and nauseous one of the nurse said that they go by the order and people in the ambulance have more of the priority so she didn t know when she would be seen. So we decided we were going to go to the Kyle ER across the high way all the sudden they could see her. People who has foot injuries were going in before a head injury even though we had got here before them. This hospital is NOT doing their job at all. Head injuries are treated as a priority but clearly not at this hospital.
Disregard the whiners complaining about everything. This is a wonderful hospital, especially if you have something serious, like pneumonia. It has a very caring Medical Director, Nurses, and Staff. Next time, have your friend drive you to Central Texas in San Marcos, or take an ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
this hospital is like 5star hotel. service is great and very professional proactive staff. Dr. Nurses. id like to thank every person who works at this hospital who helped us deliver our baby. we felt like home
This please sucks instead of treating their patients like idiots they should be more concerned for their health being. their the idiots how am I supposed to go to the clinic at 2 am if I go to the hospital is because it can't wait it's because I'm in pain its not like I want to go there. All I'm saying is the staff should be more careful on how they expressed them selfs we the people are supposed to feel safe feel like you guys are there for us NOT for you to treat us like idiots. Especially the overnight staff come on if your in a job that you don't like you should just quit it would be the best for all
I love this hospital and I ve been in a few. Everyone was so nice, the guy who did my vitals was super nice. The lady who took my swabs was great, I asked for a drink she had no problem helping me out and I had my daughter. They were super fast to, I was in and out. I would recommend this hospital
My mother is at Seaton Hays for the second time in two years, the last time when we admitted her we made sure they knew she had a sleep disorder and could not be given any morphine, or benzos. We explained that it puts her in a state where she lashes out at everyone but they still gave her ativan (a benzo) and yes she freaked out and was screaming and trying to hit anyone within reach.
So they have all of this info on her medical record, we readmitted her for emergency surgery and reiterated to the nurses and physicians that they should never give her the aforementioned drugs. You guessed it ativan again, she was up all night belligerent and incoherent. The physicians said it was the night staff. I've called the patient representative hotline and left a message and am awaiting a call.
As for the medical care it's fantastic, the staff are responsive and very pleasant. I hate giving you a bad review but my 78 year old mother can't even speak or remember that she has a dog now. My brother is going to spend the night to make sure the night staff doesn't do her wrong again.
Ok so she was transferred to Parkview and here is my review of that:
And they have changed nothing. Transferred her to another rehab facility without providing them with her not to give medication list. Highly unprofessional coming from someone who works in healthcare, I think they need a Joint Comission audit.
Have been to the ER a few times unfortunately, and every time they treated me with respect and friendly. The longest I've waited in the waiting area has been about an 1hr. The doctors and medical staff are patient and caring, they try and answer all your questions in a way you will understand. I have not encounter a staff member that has been rude yet.
My mother had two recent visits and stays here. The ER staff was professional, efficient, kind, caring and patient both times she was rushed to ER. Once in a room, the nurses, doctors, social worker and case worker were wonderful. Friendly, patient, kind, professional and straight up honest at all times. I appreciate that.
They have great service as a hospital. As someone who has been trying to contact their billing department for a bill that should have been taken care of. Contacting that department is a joke. Their callback service does not work. When they attempt to call you back its towards the end of the week around 8 am. If you don't answer you can forget talking to them. When I dealt with them when my visit took place it would take an hour or more for them to pick up the phone. There is no address or email to contact the billing department as the website is conveniently modified to not include this information. I will most likely never use this hospital again due to the unavailability of being able to speak to anyone in the billing dept for something that was taken care of around the time the visit took place over a year ago.
I am currently sitting in a room back in the ER with my wife. For the past few days I have had an extremely difficult time breathing. It has been one of the most uncomfortable experiences I have had. Straining just to feel like I am getting enough Oxygen. No pain, no other symptoms , but feel I can not breathe. The check in process was quick and very welcoming . I was laying here over 2 hours before a doctor came in to see me. Never even saw a nurse prior to him coming in. The only people I saw within the first 2 hours were two ladies who brought me back for a chest xray. So finally after 2.5 hours or so the Doctor came in to tell me that eveything is normal . They want to take a blood sample but assuming that is fine, there is nothing wrong and that will be that. I asked if there is anything I could do that could help with my breathing , and I was basically told no in a very dismissive way. He said since there is nothing to treat there is nothing I can do. I cant even describe how upsetting it is to hear that there is nothing that can be done, and it is basically no big deal, when I feel like I can breathe. This morning I was so worried (as well as my wife) that we decided I better go to the ER. I have nothing to gain by coming, but feel as if they think I am making somehting up, not sure why else I would be ignored in such a way. No pain, so not seeking drugs. But have been competley dismissed, me and whatever is going on with me medically. So what now? I go to a hospital for answers and get none. Guess I will have to call around to see if there is any place that cares enough to atleast look into why it is so difficult for me to breathe. My wife and I are truly in shock with how this has gone.
Excellent ER staff, Nurses. I had gone for a spider bite that I had in my inner thigh, I had to be admitted in to the hospital bc they did surgery on my thigh. Nurse Mara & Nicole ( CA ) were the best!! Nicole made me laugh and I really needed it bc I was away from 3 boys for a good while. And Nurse Mara ( I think that s how you spell it, she was the nicest, caring nurse I ve ever had. Keep up the good work!!
If you are seen in the ER you are brought in and put in a room in a relatively short time. The Nurses and other staff are courteous and prompt. There wasn t a doctor on call the last time we had family in the hospital and they were there for 5 days
Going to this ER was a total waste of 3 hours! A laceration on my finger was glued instead of sutured only for the wound to reopen and bleed again as soon as I got home. What a joke!!!
This place will turn you away, even with proof of Insurance. First off, they couldn't diagnose a simple, text book case of the Hives. I went there after suffering for 3 wks with this skin condition and was considering suicide, it itched so bad. They gave me enough medicine for 6 days, which I thought had cured my condition. It didn't, came right back and when I tried to return to Emergence Room, was told that it was for LIFE THREATENING CONDITIONS ONLY and was told that if I insisted on signing in to ER that the Dr.'s weren't going to do anything for me, since I had been there the previous week for the same thing. But they would be glad to bill me anyway even though they wouldn't treat me. That's funny, saw some people that were waiting in the waiting room and they didn't look like they were dying. Seton sure didn't think so, left them in the waiting room. My whole face, head and neck were swollen at time of second visit, wasn't sure I would be able to drive home, eyes were swelling shut. According to the phamphlet I got from a real Medical Facility(Diagnostic Clinic), I was in danger of DYING, because Hives can close off your airway and KILL YOU. Next morning, I couldn't open my eyes because of swelling and didn't know the danger I was in, thanks to Seton ER. This could have been avoided, all this happened on a Friday and I don't know about you, but I don't know of any Dr.'s who can see you, the day you call, especially Friday at 3PM. Avoid this Emergence Room, unless you have an obvious injury, you know something simple like a stubbed toe, which they might be able to diagnose. Took Diagnostic Clinic about 10sec's to diagnose my condition.
The Best Hospital in the World.. Seton Hays loves and gives Great care for their patients. They Best Maturity ward.. the hospital has the Greatest ICU and Emergency staff.. Saved my life..! The RN s are Loving and Very caring... this place is First class all the way.. Love their mission statement..
The stay here has been a train wreck my mother cannot take pain very well so she has been asking for help. In order to get help you have to push a button to notify the front desk people and then they will notify the nurse. Since the past couple of days my mom hasn't been able to talk as clearly cuz her oxygen is low I have been staying here since her first visit to the ER. My Mom feels as if she can't ask for help because she feels like she's a burden by the way they answer her. Since I've been staying here every night I have seen what she has said and one night I got irritated. My Mom requested if she could walk because she has been in the bed for a while and so we rang the front desk and the lady answers and takes the request. She notifies the nurse but like less than a minute my mom was in pain so I contacted the desk and the lady automatically jumped to the conclusion that she wanted to go walking. Instead of asking how may I help you she says I know you need to go for a walk I've already notified the nurse. I responded no actually she needs her pain medicine that irritated me so much because if my mom was in a serious position where she needed help that lady just randomly jumps to a conclusion because she's what irritated about a ring. And all that second she wasted talking my mom could have been in a serious situation thankfully she was okay but just to know that someone will jump to a conclusion so quickly just cuz you ring them that's ridiculous.
This is a wonderful hospital ... the nurses are especially kind and caring. My loved one received excellent care for an extremely complicated condition. The building is lovely as well with views of the Texas Hill Country, soothing artwork and a peaceful chapel.
I went here for a fine needle aspiration (thyroid biopsy) and could not have been any happier with the service I received or the medical care. Before my visit, I received a call from the nurse that worked with me that day to let me know that I did not need to fast for the procedure and to ask if I had any questions. The day of, I stepped out of the car and was immediately offered a golf cart ride from a volunteer (and I wasn't even really parked that far away) and was admitted by a courteous woman who answered my many questions with patience and grace. Then it was off to the waiting area where they took me ahead of schedule. The nurse was incredibly understanding, competent and knowledgeable and the doctor did his thing, again, with skill (and a minimum of pain) and I was on my way. My appt was at 11 on Friday and my results were done on Monday afternoon (unfortunately my Dr.'s office didn't call to check and so we did not get the results until late Wednesday! I'll write a very different review for those folks). My story has a happy ending--benign--but I'd have written the same review for them if it'd turned out otherwise.
I know others seem to have had a different experience with the ER but I was grateful for the care and attention I received at Seton Hays.
I went to Seton Hays er in July 2020 for an afib episode. When I arrived to the ER, I informed the nurse and the ed doctor that I know how to treat this because I have have this situation in the past. I told them that I need 20mg if iv cardizem and to be bolused with at least 2 liters of NS stat. The ER doctor said that he only wanted to give me 10mg of cardizem and not even a liter of fluid. I explained to him that I am a RN that works for one of the other seton hospitals and I know what I am talking about. They disregarded what I said and only gave me 10mg. And of course it didn't work. We waited a few more hours and then the Doc decided to give me 10 more of cardizem, then nothing, and then 10 more, and then nothing. I told them that I needed more IV fluid but they ignored me. Then I told the nurse that I was worried about the expenses that were adding and he said "don't worry, we take care of our own, we will sweep it under the rug". Then the er doctor decided to give me an iv amio drip and that I would have to be admitted which I really did not want. I ask if I could stay in the ed but they pushed me to go to the floor, so I had to go along with it. When I got to the floor, I flipped into normal sinuse rhythm. I then talked to the hospitalist and she questioned the decision to not give more fluids down in the ED. My labs showed that at the time, my kidney function was poor from dehydration and that the fluid would of helped get me out of afib faster. I told her that I tried to tell them that but they wouldn't listen. So now, a couple of months later, the combined bill for all that they did is around a whopping $14,000 for a little bit of BP medicine, NS, IVsupplies, some labs, and a couple of ecgs- which all cost less the hospital that $100. My responsibility for all of it is around $4500 after my insurance part. In the past when my afib has happened, I went to the hospital location that I worked at, they listened to me and really took care of their own and I ended up paying a lot less. I will never go back to seton hays for this reason.
I have been to this location a few times for things here and there. On my last visit I was 8 1/2 months pregnant, my husband and I had been battling what we think was a stomach bug for weeks and I was severely dehydrated. I had lost 10 lbs in one week. They separated my husband and i, despite my constant pleas to be kept together because I have severe anxiety when it comes to doctors and hospitals. My husband was seen first in another room (I know because he text me) given an iv and everything. I waited over an hour and a half without one person even coming in to see me. Just two weeks away from delivering a baby! By the time I had my iv it was almost 4 hours later! This place is a joke. I wouldn't trust them with my life, or my child's. No sense of urgency at all. No respect for patients.
