I have had good experiences with this hospital.The ER could could be better,but it is still better than other area hospitals.Dr.Adams is great when he is on in the ER.Sometimes i think a lot of the problem these days is there is a shortage of help and so many patients,that the staff is probably overwhelmed.Hospitals need more caregivers to take care of patients.RMH is by far the best hospital in this area.Sometimes patients need to speak up also,but not in an unkind way.I used to work in healthcare.I loved it,but due to disability had to let go of that period of my life.I pray before my appointments and make a list of what i want to tell the doctor I am seeing.It helps a lot,cause it is easy to forget symptoms when dealing with illness,especially when you are in pain.Doctors and Nurses are there to help,but we also must help them by communicating.They aren't perfect,but are there to do the best they can to help us.

I had huge pain in my lower abdomen and the staff worked hard to find the cause the whole time I was there. Everyone was very friendly, especially the guys who did the CT scan

I like how Dr. Knestrick thinks. Addresses the problem at hand. Common sense you might say. Was impressed.

Like most of the people on here I wish i could rate it less than one star for the ER. My husband went there after falling off a ladder the day before with extreme back pain. After waiting over two hours they took xrays and said he must of irritated a disk in his back. You can see brusing all over his back and he can't even get up out of a chair by himself. He was never seen by a doctor and no one besides the xray technician looked at his back. We were sent home with a prescription for glorified aleve. What a disgrace this is to hospitals.

Went in two times in one night had one doctor tell me on thing, and another tell me a whole different thing! They have no idea what to do!

Horrible. I had severe pneumonia when I went in and they parked me in a corner of the waiting room 4 hours until I passed out, despite my constant pleas that I could barely breathe. As soon as I got a room, I was flooded with unnecessary tests for 5 hours but I didn't get any pain meds until the last hour. In the end they send me home Aleve, which I have been taking for the past few days with no effect. When I told the staff this, all I got was a shrug and basically "not my problem" spiel. When my IV was administered I was stabbed several times and there was blood everywhere. To top it all off, one of the staff was audibly complaining about how much of a hassle it is to take students. He said that it shouldn't be their problem, and the students should stay on campus. (Campus health centre closes at night and is not a fully equipped emergency room). This place is filled with the most uncaring, poorly trained, apathetic people I've ever met. If I lived here I'd move in fear of my health.

My July 2017 total knee replacement education, surgery, 2-day hospital stay, and physical therapy were exceptional. Staff at each step were experienced, skilled and caring--and coordinated very well with each other.

Hate this hospital my autistic son sat there for 4 hours they do not care about their patients to busy talking n not doing their job n I gave them specific instructions on my son n they didn t care don t go here not even If ur dying

Staff is very sweet and professional. They do their best to help you and your family.

This place is a complete joke. Unorganized, inefficient, and under staffed. Sending people home without proper diagnosis. Wouldn't recommend this so called hospitol to anyone.

No dought this is a great facility, however it concerns me that while visiting my mother a nurse enters the room from the hallway with gloves on pushing a cart proceeds to touch her hair,the computer, her pager that was on sink that has been in every room she been in and than continues to open needles(iv pack) with same gloves on and proceeds to stick my mom's arm never changed her gloves never washed her hands. OMG. I'm not a nurse but this is something that needs to be addressed. Be absorbent when in the hospital to be sure you're not gonna get something other than what you already have.

So i show up in the ER i have what i believe to be an abscess tooth maybe... my face is slightly swolen and i am in a considerable amout of pain so they fast track me through in an out in an hour an a half gave me basic antibiotics penicillin an a script for 12 300 mg T3 basically 300 mg Tylenol with codine thats whatever...
Three days go by i am taking the antibiotics as prescribed an i have taken 4 of the 12 pain meds because they are inadequate i am using 1000mg ibuprofen and 1000 mg tylenol every 3 hours so the pain meds they gave me were a joke more or less..
I go back because my pain has almost tripled
My face is numb to the touch and feels like a bad burn to me the swelling has increase and the pain has moved behind my eye..One of the first questions was asked did you take everything we gave you i said no its only been 3 days..well we need to call a Dr...well yea Duh... so i wait..then explain to the Dr that the pain has increased an moved an my concern that infection spreading to my brain..he says he thinks it just the tooth an say lets get you some stronger antibiotics and maybe something a little stronger for pain..The maybe was a trigger for me. I stopped him an said i dont want your freaking pain meds i would like the antibiotics but to keep your pain meds...so another nurse comes in later with scripts for antibiotics and something like 8 300 mg hydrocodone..i told her that i was tired and in a lot of pain an was tired of being treated like a drug addict looking for pain meds they could keep their stupid script for 8 pills an that i just wanted to leave... so i DEFINITELY..left that silly pain med script..WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE TREATING EVERYONE LIKE THEIR A CRIMINAL AND WANT YOUR FREAKING DRUGS...Just wanted better antibiotics an maybe an xray or scan to make sure this infection is not gonna end up life threatening...but was treated poorly in my opinion an like a drug addict so i still am worried about this infection but i guess they made life decisions for me...SMH...but it hurts

Didn't do no tests, wasn't there long enough for nothing like they was rushing me out. Worst hospital ever

This place has terrible communication issues. Ran tests on me and could not give me any information. Failed to give me a cover for my bottom half for an ultrasound. The ultra sound lady was the only one who seemed to show any compassion. They kept asking me if I had been seen because they were being told I had been when I hadn't. Took my blood right in the hallway without anything to rest my arm on. Was there 3 and half hours to find out nothing. I went in thinking I was miscarrying and they didn't even ask me any question.

This place is a joke really it after midnight and they have toddlers sitting in here since 7pm and still haven't went back but if u are a jmu student or druggie u get called back in 30 mins. Worst place to ever bring your kids .

My husband was in so much pain he was laying on the floor in the waiting room for almost 2 hours and instead of helping him they called security and told him to leave. He ended up at an urgent care and was rushed back to the hospital for surgery. This hospital is a joke. Staff, nurses, doctors all seem to have gotten there certifications out of a cracker jack box!

My Best friend is currently in the waiting room with her dad and he is in so much pain and they are not doing anything!!!!! They have been waiting for over an hour and there are only 4 other people in the waiting room as well!!!! Her dads blood pressure was in the 200 s over 115 and they do not think this is concerning at all!!!! I always hear bad experiences at RMH and I hope I never have to go there for anything serious because they do not take their patients serious!!!!

Had to be taken there after a car accident and was happy with the initial service and follow up from lingering issues from the same accident.

I went to er 3 weeks ago.
Packed waiting room.
I was bleeding from a accident.
I was seen in 30 min.
The care and professionalism I received was outstanding
Staff is amazing.
They referred me to uva but I declined and saw a surgeon here.
My whole experience was positive.
Loved my er dr I believe his name was engerlberg .

We had both of our kids delivered here. They each had some issues requiring a slightly extended stay, and I can t praise the L&D staff highly enough. They have been nothing but professional, kind, and they clearly love caring for infants. The only black mark against them is the coffee in the waiting room: if you re a caffeine addict, do NOT under any circumstance drink the coffee!

I ve also seen the ortho dept several times and it s been easy come, easy go. Docs/PAs/nurses on point.

Don t waste your time! I was taken by rescue squad with blood pressures at stroke levels. I was given a shot on the way to stop the vomiting. I get to the hospital, they do an ekg. I wait almost 2 hours before going home. Fast forward 2/3 days and I m admitted to Augusta Medical where I suffered two strokes. Sentara s lack of treatment didn t help.

I'd rather go to UVA, then wait 6 hours in their waiting room

Unfortunately I had to try out the ER last May as I had damaged my finger. When I arrived, I remembered I had tried out the ER 3 years ago when I was unconscious having been in a bike accident. Nonetheless, the staff was great, super attentive, and on it! They were caring and funny and everything I wanted for a less than fortunate circumstance. i promised them a review because most ER reviews are complaint driven. I don't recommend stopping by, but if an emergency ensues, trust that the team is operating on your behalf in making the experience the best outcome as they possibly can.

It's a flipping nightmare to get a copy of your records I was in for a workers comp claim. I faxed everything requested over a week ago and everytime I call I get a voicemail. You guys are making my claim drag on. Do your job send my freaking records!

When to the ER two weeks ago they said I have a virus went back Saturday night they were so busy I decided to drive to fairfax inova. Found out I had appendicitis which i was check for 2 weeks ago at sentara... Thankfully inova found it or else.
Slow and poor service over all. Staff was not friendly or helpful in ant way. I would rather drive 2 hours then or here again.

Great Hospital and staff! I had spinal surgery with great results, later I developed blood clots and RMH addressed the problem and have taken great care of me. The emergency doctors and nurses know if you need to be seen before others. If you had to wait in the ER then your problem was not life threatening.

Was vacationing in the area when I had a urinary obstruction. They took care of the problem. The staff besides taking care of the problem were very friendly and helpful.

Terrible hospital, prefer UVA all day everyday even though its a bit of a drive

I am a recent transplant patient and I had pneumonia (severe) and had to wait hours to be seen!!

Amazing experience. Exceedingly kind and attentive staff. Best place to get an organ unexpectedly removed!

In the ER waiting room one evening at 7:00 PM, I waited while my father got treatment. A woman was sleeping in a chair. Another was across the room chatting quietly with her daughter. The woman woke up and ordered the mom to be quiet since she was trying to sleep. The mom told her to mind her own business. The sleepy woman got nasty, and her husband stood up and joined the verbal argument. A shouting match ensued. Mom and the woman's husband approached each other like they were about to fistfight. No security in sight even though the woman, her husband, and the mom were screaming at each other. One of the nurses ran to a door right off the waiting room and knocked, then knocked again, then pounded on it. Out came a sleepy-looking security guard who separated everyone. I thought we were going to have a melee by the time it got calmed down. Other than security sleeping on the job, I've had no problems with the ER.

Wait time is ridicules.. it s not much of an emergency room.

All around terrible. They set you up for failure and run you all over town for time sensitive lab work.

Horrible! Worst ER experience. Apparently they were in a lockdown due to inmates in the ER receiving medical care. The inmates received better care than we did. I was not allowed to see my child or be in the room with her. Not impressed with the security, the staff was rude and unprepared to manage the situation. Do not go there! I would give it a total negative star if possible.

The dr. didn't hardly care to hear anything i had to say even after have documents from specialist about my health issues. Dr.Nesbit is a joke.... guess thats why its called a "medical practice."

After getting laproscopic surgery I was kicked out of recovery hurting and bleeding because it was 5 and the girls that work there wanted to go home. When I went back per request of my Dr I was served with a trespassing warrant. Sentara rmh mutilated me and the refused me medical service.

I have read so many negative reviews and I m honestly shocked by them. From beginning to end my stay at SentaraRMH was awesome. I had a total hip replacement and couldn t ask for better care from my surgeon right on down to the cleaning staff were friendly, professional and very encouraging to me and my family. I would recommend this hospital to anyone and I m very grateful to have such a nice facility close to home. The staff on 4 West that took care of me was like a well oiled machine
Sometimes it also helps in the way you treat the staff, I myself choose to be respectful and show a little understanding. But again awesome experience. Thanks and a big shout out to SRMH.

The nursing staff here is unbelievably empathetic, friendly and professional. Spent 10 days here in February 2019, and the staff made it seem a lot shorter. Thanks, all on Four West. You guys are terrific.

My mother went to the ER 1 week after a surgery in severe pain. She was "next" on the list to be seen for 3 hours. I know they have different tracks but many people that came after her were seen and left while we were sitting there. She has had a stroke and aneurysm recently. It was 6 hours plus before she was taken back to be seen. Ridiculous!

Worst hospital visit ever. Ive been sitting in the waiting room for 3 hours with a severe abdominal pain...pain level rated an 8 THREE HOURS AGO! I asked the receptionist if there was a problem and her response was to either go somewhere else or deal with the wait. Ok..thank you...I came to the emergency room because my emergency can wait...congrats rmh... If there was a less than one star that's what you would get. Address these issues, you are responsible for human beings lives...try to act like it please.
