SEIU Local 6 is a labor union that represents over 9,000 workers in Washington state. These workers include janitors, security officers, airport workers, and allied industries workers. The union's mission is to empower these workers by negotiating fair contracts with their employers, advocating for better working conditions and wages, and providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
Founded in 1918 as the Building Service Employees International Union (BSEIU), SEIU Local 6 has a long history of fighting for worker rights. Over the years, the union has grown in size and scope, expanding its membership to include a diverse range of industries. Today, SEIU Local 6 is one of the largest unions in Washington state.
One of SEIU Local 6's core values is social justice. The union believes that all workers deserve dignity and respect on the job, regardless of their race or ethnicity.
