Save yourself the trouble and just look for another job.
What you will find at SEI are some very nice people. The front office girls are all sweet hearts. They make work enjoyable. The maitnence department are very good people as well. They are more than willing to help you in anyway they can. The account managers are the brains of the bunch. They know the ins and outs of the company and can teach you anything that you need to know. The labors there, for the most part, are all hard working good people.
Here's where it gets messy. The management in this place is thee absolute worst management I have ever seen of any company. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever be in order. You will be scrambling around to find out what you need to do, where you need to go, if you re working or not, the list goes on and on because the organization of this place is an utter disgrace. You will not be respected by anyone. I worked there for 7 months and people still called me John Deere. At first it s funny but do you know how demoralizing that is to a person when you don t even respect him enough to call him by his name. You will suffer the consequences of others mistakes. It doesn t matter if your boss messes up or another employee screws up, you will be the one that will get the other end of the stick.
If you do work in the field be prepared to work long labor hours. About a week ago it was -50 degrees windchill, and they had a crew out on a job 30 feet in the air doing some tank job. They do not care one bit about you. You are paid from the neck down and are easily replaceable. And you will be asked to work another shift after the 16 hour shift you just worked. So if you re into not having a life, then by all means SEI is the place for you. Ask the supervisors on jobs. Or the laborers. They will tell you exactly this.
One last bit here before I go. I worked in the warehouse. I was hired in with another new enoloyee. We joined another employee that has been there for some time now. Long story short, the guys that was hired in with me left and it was myself and the previous employee that s been there for a while. They hired a laborer to run the warehouse before considering the guys that s been there for years to run it. Oh, and he so happened to be the CEOs brother. Coincidental? Probably not. Just goes to show you the thought process that goes into this place.
So please, save yourself the trouble. No matter how much you need a job or how much you need the money don t work here. Any job that will hire you on the spot usually isn t worth it, and it certainly shows here.
