Second Baptist Church Review

My girlfriend and I have been going for a year and we officially became members today! We go to the 11:11 service. Sermon is always uplifting, and the music is moving.

That's been our church for years my family and I love it
It's better than going to any African Churches from past experience with them
But Second Baptist Church we love going there come as you are they are friendly helpful nice we always love the main Service as well as the Bible study classes also

Second Baptist was my church for eighteen years prior to us moving out of Houston nearly ten years ago. I've missed it every day. I've missed the preaching of Dr. Young and the friends I made there even though still in contact with some. Dr. Young personally spoke to me each and every Sunday for all those years. He taught me things I had never heard even though I had gone to church most of my life. I trust him to still be teaching God's truth and even if you disagree that only means you disagree. It doesn't mean Dr. Young's sermons are any less true. I still have Jesus thanks to Dr. Ed Young and Second Baptist Church Houston.

Go on youtube and search the channel on point preparedness and look for the video where he exposes this second baptist church in houston texas. Their tagline is "hidden wisdom" and one of their services begins at 11:11 is just one of the many examples and signs to be aware of. Do not be deceived. God bless.

Second is a wonderful place to worship. Its also an amazing place to experience. It is beautiful. There are enormous stained glass windows, an unbelievable pipe organ, a great band, orchestra and choir. People are friendly. They just had a nice remodel that includes a childrens playground, coffee bar and snack shop with seating. They also feature a place called Jane s Grill where you can eat if you decide to stay. This church has reached out to the community and beyond in many real and giving ways. Christmas is always festive and Easter services sacred.

Love this church & pastor! They care about Houston and the people in this city!

I've not been, but we have friends who live in the Houston area. We're trying to find them a doctrine based church, NOT a "word faith" church. Is this basically a word faith church, with the flashy band, lights and flashy services? Is this a ministry with loving members, or are they more concerned with collecting money and telling members what they want to hear?
Do they have a ministry that teaches a "feel good pep talk" type ministry or
does the pastor water down the doctrine? Does he teach doctrine based messages?

People were very friendly. In the remodeling phase. Looks very nice and now has an area called Second City, where small children can play inside. Cafe and bookstore just across from the play area.

Great church and facilities to be able to meet the needs and interests of everyone. The school is top notch too.

Excellent worship...worship songs and worship voice....eleven eleven service

They showed true Christian charity to me today - I felt welcome.

I love my church everyone makes you feel very loved. With the death of my husband everyone was very supporting being there physically with my family and I also with prayers.

Second Baptist is the Best Family Friendly church! Something wonderful for every age!!!! This is the only church my kids have begged me to go to on Sundays and they range from 4-17yrs old so that's a good sign! The church campus is beautiful and I really like how they have 2 different services, the 9:30a is led by Dr. Ed Young and is considered more traditional but extraordinary and the 11:11 is led by Ed's son Dr. Ben Young and has an AMAZING BAND that starts off the service with lots of energy and Ben really helps you to see & understand the message! & the kids programs are INCREDIBLE! there are separate worship classes & activities for each age so there is something fun for kids newborn to 17!!! Second Loves Kids is their motto and it's certainly the truth! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CHURCH, THIS IS THE ONE!!!

The best church in Houston so if u need a place to worship this is the place.

They interpret the Bible the right way here, they live it as well. 5 stars, will return.

Great Church to attend ! We go to the Kingwood location. I actually met my wife there in a Bible Study class. They have a lot of great programs for people of all ages including sports and just fun get togethers if many different activities.

It's my church family, and enjoy the worship service and bible study classes.

I love this church! Despite the size, they really care about you & especially the children. My kids love coming to church.

Still great, even broadcasted/recorded sermon. God get the glory.

We have been coming here as visitors with my in laws when we want to spend time with them. We come from a small Pentecostal church and every time I attend I like how Dr.Ed Young preaches truth straight out of the bible. At our church we felt stuck, a little like the preaching was the same over and over and we were not learning or growing. Every time we come to second baptist we leave with so much acquired knowledge. We are ones to study the bible, not just take what anyone says and we love that Dr.Ed Young teaches right from scripture. Just last Sunday I decided to become a member and I am looking forward to joining a bible study class and getting involved.

This church is NOT of God. You should worry about how your children are being influenced. Looks to me like they put a lot into those kids, the children are our future, and easily brain washed, and clearly money is this churches main goal. Aside from the fact 11:11 is demonic. Google it yourself. The message I heard is empty. But hey, people like sparkly things more than God's truth. Where IS the Spirit of Truth in this church?

I really enjoyed the Christmas play, it was awesome. I would recommend this play.

Second Baptist Church Woodway campus is a great location as a home church congregation and especially for seasonal performances both music and theatrical. The Christmas production is one of the best that we have attended and would highly recommend if you are in the area during the Christmas season. We made the drive from Austin, we thought that highly of the production.

I attend the Spanish Service on Sunday, starting at 12:30PM I ve been coming to this service for about 4 yrs now. Love the worship and preaching. The location is really nice, members are friendly to new guest and they always have family activities on monthly bases.

Great messages with relevant information easily applied to daily life. Many groups and classes for networking and spiritual advancement.

It is a wonderful church where Christians are allowed to speak freely about their religion.

Great Church. Great people. It is funny how people twist the truth in some of these reviews. I have attended the Church for 5 years, and have been truly blessed and felt at home surrounded by love. 11:11 Band is amazing and the service is usually lead by Ben Young.

I love Second Baptist Church! One of the best churches in the area along with Lakewood Church! Not as rich pastor, but I believe he once wants all of us to go back to the 1950s, which is what we should do. He may not say that literally, but too many of the other are becoming too prominent. I mean giving rights for the LGBT community really does lead to sexual predators going into women's bathrooms.

Love hearing Dr. Young speak. Truly the Lord speaking through him. My vehicle broke down one Saturday in the parking lot and the security was super friendly considering it looks like I live in my SUV... which I do.

My home away from home. A hospital for sinners because none of us are perfect.

We have gone to their Christmas production every year and really enjoy it! Arrive early for their Christmas train exhibit so that you can take your time looking through it. Definitely a production to bring the kids to see. Next year they will be starting a new series and I'm excited to see what they can come up with. My favorite section overall is the first balcony.

Love it. Great worship services and great bible study classes.

Love going their on Sundays to hear the word, pastor young and the others are always giving it to you like it is, I also love the face your time is respected 11:11/12:11

OVERALL: EXCELLENT Place

Just saw a Facebook post! A person who attended a 2nd Baptist s church had an altercation with a Hispanic and told him that he should go back where he came from! So the guy followed him to confront him. He happened to pull into 2nd Baptist. Church! And he smiled while going in to attend mass! Is this what the are teaching! Now I don t want think I want to attend such a place!!!!!!!!!

It may look like a big place, but it feels much smaller with the Sunday school (adult Bible study) classes. If you re looking for authentic community, growing in fellowship with God, this is where you want to be!

Second Baptist has a great job ministry called Career Connections. They collaborate with other orgs including Texas HR Pros for job search training.

Extremely focused and Powerful messages of inspiration for everyone. I am very thankful and grateful to attend with my father .

Apparently, Ed Young thinks I m godless . I didn t know he had been given the spiritual authority to make such a pronouncement. Now that he has made such a claim and allied himself with one political party, his church s tax exempt status should be revoked.

Very nice people and they are more welcoming than many.

Second Baptist Church is fun and I even learn lots and lots of stuff even I go to the spanish service.

Miss Sunday school on Sunday mid week are great to catch up

Great family environment, good service on Sundays. Our kids take bible classes and love them. The music and service are both excellent.

One of the best places of worship in the country but the best preacher!

My son loves the children's ministry. There are days when I want to stay home and he motivates me to go and hear the word. The single parent ministy is awesome as well!

The most important thing to know when coming here is to DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR VEHICLE.

IF YOU DO PEOPLE WILL BREAK INTO YOUR VEHICLE, and FIND WHERE YOU HID THEM.

DON'T BE STUPID AND THINK IT WON'T HAPPEN TO YOU.

IT'S NOT IF......IT'S A MATTER OF WHEN. And if you have left stuff in your vehicle, and nothing has happened yet. Then you have been very fortunate.

** Don't be a victim.

Don't bring cash,credit cards, social security cards,or anything you don't want to disappear.

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS and you should be fine.

AGAIN if you FAIL TO FOLLOW THE ABOVE and your vehicle gets broken into, don't look for a Pity party for your own stupidity.

Do not leave valuable items visible in your car.

Close all windows and lock all doors before leaving your vehicle.

Park in well-lit, heavily populated areas.



Avoid parking next to occupied vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings.



Do not leave garage door openers in parked vehicles.

Take note of emergency/pay phones near where you have parked, in case you need to use them.

If you see any suspicious activity or individuals, please contact the police immediately when you feel safe to do so by dialing 9-1-1 (from cell phones).

Don t think your dark tinted windows will hide your valuables. Thieves often use flashlights to see through tint.

If you are parking your vehicle for several days check on it periodically.

Best house of worship I've ever attended. I stopped going a few years back bc my husband and I divorced and he took my church over so I couldn't go anymore bc I was trying to avoid him. Well he no longer attends and I can't wait til my first Saturday evening back. Ed Young flows with care for others every time his mouth opens. This is my church and I'm happy to be apart of the Christian family!

I love my church, Second Baptist, Woodway campus. They have always been so kind an given to me in every area in my life. I lost my job and they helped me with rent. My car broke down and they fixed it, at no charge. Went through a divorce and got counseling with a license psychologist. At no charge. I have been a member since 12/2013. I do give back,by tithing, I do volunteer as one of the Lord Supper server. I do have a bible class that I stay connect with. Very supportive people that go to my church. And now my mother has gone to our Lord and Savior. And have received tremendous amount of support. I cant thank them all, enough.

People do not listen at 2nd. Ed Young tells obvious lies about secular things so why believe anything he says about the Bible. May 2014 at Woodway stage, Ed said that Second spends more on children that anything or anybody else. According to the 2014 budget, $9 million goes to children's programs while $17,729,899 goes to facilities operations and another $17,634,416 million goes to program support. $3,913,087 alone for Woodway campus ordained ministers' housing (does not include salaries/compensation). - The Second Scene Woodway campus quarterly church magazine Ed Young's (age: late 70's) new house purchased 12/27/2010 is now worth $3,740,000.

How Christian I say I am, it is wonderful to return to the place where you were strengthened and baptized, every time God brings my feet to Houston, I love to return to this place! His Bible study classes (there are many for all kinds of preferences) are the wonderful opportunity to know more about God, of what character you want for our lives, if, if you live or visit Houston, see the place because it is also beautiful and live the experience of meeting exceptional people there are services in Spanish and English!
