I've made several complaints about an intersection where people make several illegal moves I have witnessed several close calls and almost been a part of a couple however they never seem to do anything about it and the last few times they have just hung up on me so I guess it's going to be able to take for someone to die or get seriously hurt before they do something about it

I was given a $47 parking ticket for parking in an "unmarked crosswalk." Apparently, any T intersection is considered a legal crosswalk, and the city of Seattle has decided not to put up any signs or even paint the curbs to let people know. This is ridiculous. I live right next to the location where I was cited, and I guarantee you people are unknowingly parking illegally in this spot every day. $47 might not be a lot of money for a tech executive, but for someone like me who is working two jobs and taking classes while struggling to afford rent in this city, $47 is a lot. If I had in fact done something wrong, I would pay the penalty without complaining. However, I didn't do anything wrong and the city of Seattle is robbing me of my hard-earned money. And it will continue to do this to people who are justifiably unaware of the existence of invisible crosswalks. Given how easy it is to paint a curb or put up a sign, I can only conclude that these completely unreasonable citations are being given for moneymaking purposes. Not cool. Not cool at all.

I have been trying to contact SDOT for about a month regarding parking permits. I'm wondering if they're perhaps short staffed in their customer service department? They have not answered or returned phone calls or emails. I'm planing to go in person to hopefully have my questions answered.

Ends up costing our clients over a thousand dollars so we can use the alley on their projects. The staff is amazingly indifferent and slow. Worst city department in a city with some bad departments.

I can only speak for one experience, but it was phenomenal. Shout out to Monroe and Jarrod!!! My tire blew and I was stranded on 99S when Jarrod pulled over in a huge SDOT truck, shielding me from traffic and putting out cones. He didn't have the tool I was missing from my kit, so he phoned Monroe for backup. Monroe actually figured out how to use the contents of my kit, and they worked together to change the tire.
Not only did they save me money and time waiting for a tow, they protected me from oncoming traffic and were the most genuinely kind, capable, and endearing help I could've asked for. Amazing attitudes. Oh, and they wouldn't let me take them to lunch, shrugging it off with, "this is what we do!" Thank Jarrod and Monroe!!!!

can't get anyone to return my phone calls. They allow construction to block access to my business on a regular basis and never respond to complaints. Do these people have permits? I can't find out! What exactly is SDOT supposed to be doing as I have found them extremely unhelpful. I wish I could give them a minus 2 stars. SDOT SUCKS!!!!!

The traffic revision on the pike place waterfront is very, very, nice but there should be a sign for no u turns. Seen 3 in 5 minutes while parked here. Just a sign no other changes thanks :)
New edit, they obstructed the beautiful view with a ship wreck :(
Where is the beautiful waterfront from my youth....
6/30/2020 (review years later after another special (not really) event with this company)
sdot took down a whole beautiful tree today on 2305 1st ave because of one branches falling i asked, begged them not too. This tree had birds next to my apartment window, spring flowers every year. They have ruined my apartment when I look out the window now all I can think about is what they did and all I see is an empty parking lot across the street and crackheads now and I still smell the smoke this apartment building will do nothing about. Wow protesters can murder here, burn things down but not an innocent tree they take it out in 24 hours :(

An unnecessary evil. I moved to Seattle from the East coast, and I found an apartment in downtown Seattle. In order for me to move in with the Pod I had shipped with my belongings, I had to pay $146 to the City of Seattle Street Use Permit as well as $218 to the Seattle Department of Transportation to use the metered parking space. A grand total of $364.00 plus change. I was told by a Traffic Permit Specialist that I would be able to get my money back if I didn't use the allotted days I had paid for. That was a bunch of lies just to extort more money out of my pocket!
I was mislead to believe I would be able to get my money back when the Traffic Specialist handed me her supervisor's business card when she told me I would need to speak to him. She didn't say no nor did she mention the rules of no refund. I spoke to the supervisor, and he kept saying that the rules have always been you never get a refund for the days you don't use. How was I supposed to know that?? I just moved to Seattle. The Supervisor exclaimed surprise that the Traffic Specialist I had spoken to would have told me about the refund considering the years and years she has worked there. Moreover, he was not gracious and his tone was derisive in accusing me of wasting his time due to the fact that his answer was no. When I pointed out to him that I just moved here, so how was I supposed to know about the rule of no refunds, he suddenly gave me an insincere, shallow apology, and then proceeding to insult me again. I do not appreciate the malicious, underhanded ploy to pay more but the SDOT employees feign ignorance in addition to not taking responsibility for their actions. The system is rigged against us, the Plebeians. The Latin expression: Caveat Emptor, "Buyer Beware" applies brilliantly to the employees working at and for SDOT.
Before my Pod arrived, I had to wait 2 days, so I already had paid for 2 days of unused space out of the 8 days I had paid for upfront. What I found interesting was that even though the spot was exclusively reserved for me, other people could still park on my spot. Despite their quote "Gorilla orange post on the corner" to notify everyone else that the spot was reserved so hence Do Not Park; the City of Seattle did not shut down the Parking Meter machine. In effect, they were double dipping with the $364 I had paid them upfront, and everyone else who paid for my reserved spot.
I contacted SDOT about the conundrum of other people parking on my reserved spot, and of course the City employees are going to blame the stupidity on everyone else. The Traffic Permit Specialist gave me the phone number to Parking Enforcement, which I come to find out is a farce. The whole department is ineffectual when it comes to enforcing their own nefarious and draconian rules. There was a car parked illegally in my space but the numbers I was given to contact the supposed "right department" doesn't exist. Everyone else kept saying...."you have the wrong department" even though another person from the City gave me your number. It was after 20 minutes of stressful google searches that I found a person who was decent enough to just contact non-emergency Police Officer to come down and write a ticket and a tow the vehicle out of my paid spot.
Everyone in my apartment building agrees with me that you can't even see the ridiculous "Gorilla Post", and the placement of it was confusing and misleading for many. I only wish Dante's Inferno and the different levels of Hell were true for the likes of SDOT employees & officials who rip off its law-abiding citizens.

SDOT only helps main areas, they don't care about residential areas despite how dangerous it is or how busy the street really is. We've asked for help during icy conditions, they responded with copy + paste messages; telling you it's your duty to clear pathways when the reason you reached out to them... is because your neighborhood doesn't have the proper equipment to deice everything, people can only do so much. We've also requested speed bumps in the past... especially with the reckless driving/ speeding but that, too, was a lost cause. I guess it's one of those things where you have to wait until something very serious happens for them to do something. Like many other complaints, you won't receive help.

As always customer support service phone went straight to voice mail. Message stated that Everyone was attending a meeting and unavailable. Code for not giving a damn about the citizens that they work for, or should I put it a different way; Pay their wages.

I called to report stop sign down at 38th Ave W and Armour, and obstructed stop sign at 30th and Barrett because of tree on the adjacent parking strip. The stop sign at 30th and Barrett is invisible until vehicle is virtually right at the intersection. Residents will know to stop but person not familiar with the intersection could drive right through without seeing the sign in time stop. The person I spoke with on the phone spoke with heavy accent and had some difficulty in understanding what I was telling her; however, I believe she finally got it.

I applied for street parking permit for the moving van (37th floor). The staff was very helpful on reserving the best parking spot near my building. I arrived around 9am and was able to get the permit within an hour!

the SDOT needs to do a WAY better job at maintaining the roads. There are pot holes everywhere and newly repaved roads crack within a couple of years of the repaving. I have dented the rim of an SUV in a pot hole not 2 blocks away from my house. My car has also has had its tired punctured numerous times from potholes and even dented the rim so bad that it left the car unable to drive.

"KING COUNTY METRO" is most definitely one of the WORST public transportation agencies in the nation (!):
* Constantly not according to the schedule and don't follow ANY published SCHEDULE or TIME TABLE (but excuses from drivers, plenty).
* Most of the buses in the fleet are OBSOLETE and WORN DOWN, INDELICATLY cleaned and ABCENSE SUPERVISION.
* Majority of the DRIVERS are UNPROFESSIONAL, RECKLESS, CARELESS and never the less BLUNT.
It's a ROCK BOTTOM public transportation agency !!!
It's a status quo that REQUIRES ATTENTION and INQUIRY from the city and county administrators and regulators.

After waiting 20 minutes on the phone, it forced me to leave a message that they would respond to, "in one business day." Then it told me that mailbox was full, and it would forward me to an attendant. Then it said there was no attendant defined and hung up on me. Not a great experience.
