I visited a friend while the University was on the tail end of move in week. And if anyone knows at any college/university move in week is straight up insanity. However, of SDSU parking was a breeze, finding the dorm I needed was easy and the overall moving around from place to place was busy but not frustrating. Most people were easy going and knew offense shouldnt be taken thanks to all the hustle and bustle. Oh! And though this campus is relatively open, to access student housing is actually a fairly secure setting- this was great to see. Overall, a beautiful location and within 20 minutes of driving to downtown SD.

I went to SDSU over 15 years ago. Although I could have attended a tier 1 school, I decided to enroll at SDSU for various reasons. Having just gotten out of the military with a wife and kid in tow and working at a high tech company, I needed a degree quickly: graduated more or less in 3 years with an Engineering Degree.

I didn't party at all or very little and just studied; I really don't understand how you could party and take calculus, physics, and electrical engineering classes but I guess there are students that were much smarter.

So, really the question is how did my degree stack up in real life? As soon as I graduated from SDSU, I went from being a technician to a full-fledge Engineer: bypassed having to work as a Jr Engineer. I became a Senior Engineer about 2 years later.

I really dont care what college you go to as long as you are able to apply it to your present situation or career. This I believe is getting a great education: being able to apply what you learn in college to not only your job but how you relate to other people: found out having social skills is a great asset with a good foundation in the Sciences. I met great professors, friends, and was challenged academically by SDSU. It was exactly what I wanted in SDSU: no more no less.

If you're tackling a very difficult major, beware, partying may not be the best road to travel at SDSU. I have seen countless times grades being posted with the last 4 numbers of your social security grades south of D. If you can't make the grade as the saying goes, they will drop kick you and have no problems replacing you with someone else.

SDSU is located in a great city with spectacular views of the ocean. LA is about 2.5 to 3.5 hours away; TJ, Mexico is about 30 minutes away; Las Vegas is about 6 hours. Although I've never done it, you can ski at Big Bear.

There are also many people at San Diego with degrees from SDSU. With an Engineering degree, I have had no problems finding a job at San Diego. I've also worked at many companies in different parts of the country and had no problem relating to and working with colleagues with fancier degrees on a project. We studied the same concepts in the sciences.

I am an alumnus of State, class of 2000. I did my BA in English here, heavy on Shakespeare and traditional poetry. My alma mater, which means "mother of my soul", was a bit like a working mother with lots of kids: good hearted, but a little distant, and no time for coddling. The Africans Studies department had an excellent course on the novel, and the formal poetry classes were phenomenal. Don't miss the epic climb up the mesa from the parking lot, or the TKE burrito at Los Panchos.

1995-2001. Yes, notoriously known as a party school, and for good reasons (like the on campus pub, Monty's, where i would meet up with a professor or 2 for a one hour appointment-dont kno if its still there, was when i was attending). Regardless, SDSU is a very good school and very economical in comparison to other universities. I think the Professors at SDSU (in all fairness please keep in mind I attended this school a little over 15 yrs ago..damn in old) were all very good and encouraging. From my Surfing 101 class to Geology to Film to Environmental Science...Keep in mind this is a very large school with a large student population (roughly about 33,000-34,000 students). San Diego is a beautiful city, a fantastic place to live, and San Diegans are friendly, energetic, fun and great people overall. San Diego is home to SDSU, UC San Diego and USD. All 3 are fine schools though very different from one another in terms of size (campus size and student population) , whether public/private universities, teacher to student ratio, impacted majors which could extend 4 years to 5 years ( when i attended the average student graduated in 5 years or longer due to impacted majors- although many didnt seem to mind the extra time) semesters or quarter system, tuition, etc..it comes down to this- if a student wants to attend a University to study to become whatever it is they would like to become when they grow up, they can and will achieve their goal no matter what University they end up attending, party school or not.

San Diego State University is a major public research institution providing transformative experiences and a rich campus life, both inside and outside of the classroom, for its 36,000 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students.

SDSU is committed to student success and life-changing opportunities for students, such as study abroad, undergraduate research, internships and entrepreneurial experiences. SDSU is the oldest higher education institution in the San Diego region, and these deep community roots provide access to internships, mentoring relationships, and volunteer opportunities that complement and enhance the classroom experience.

The greatest year of my life. I can definitely say I'm an Aztec for life. SDSU has a very good computer science program and department.

If you're from outside the US go to the International Student Center. It is by far the best center of any university. They truly care for their students.
