I must say, in all my years and experiences living...

I must say, in all my years and experiences living in numerous homes around the World, I have never seen such a poorly constructed home with the CHEAPEST products installed. My family purchased a Scott Felder home in San Antonio, TX. Numerous products have failed in this home. The windows are leaking like a sinking ship and the house is now 9 months old. The water has infiltrated into the dry wall and framing on at least 5 windows in the house. If that is not bad enough, the flooring has come apart. Scott Felder has done very little to remedy the problems. The fix they want to do is to apply silicone to the windows; multiple leaking windows! Are the new wood floors splitting because there is high humidity in the home because of the leaking windows? The design of the home does not even allow for a refrigerator with double doors. The wall sticks out so far that the refrigerator door hits the wall connected to the pantry. The fix, place a round piece of rubber on the wall so the refrigerator door hits the wall every time I open it. The toilet lids on all the toilets do not stay up. If someone wants to raise the toilet lid while urinating, you have to hold the lid with one hand making it a one handed urination job with the other! My family has had to fight tooth and nail with Scott Felder homes in the Lone Star Community. Builder of the year, multiple years? Who gives the awards, yourselves? This has been a very trying experience for an older couple and 100% disabled veteran. I give you the LEMON of the year award.

Autumn was such a delight and took care of us. As first time home owners, she walked us through each step with patience, attention to detail and was kind to offer us great insight as we chose design elements for our first home. I had a great experience here and thankful Autumn was part of our team to make our home beautiful. Thank you, Autumn!

We decided to make the move to Austin about 2 year...

We decided to make the move to Austin about 2 years ago. We came for a visit and finally decided on Rough Hollow, but that was just the beginning of the choices we had to make. After numerous visits to multiple builders we decided to go with Scott Felder as our builder. Along with what we felt was a superior product, the biggest factor in our decision was Keith Johnson who is their sales rep. He met with us multiple times and went above and beyond, walking us through different lots, placing cones to give us a true feel of how our house would be positioned and answering literally every question we had. Despite signing our contract weeks ago Keith still has taken every one of my calls even on his days off to answer my questions and answer questions I had related to the pre approval process for our mortgage. In addition to Keith, Jodi Baldwin the designer from the Scott Felder Design Center who assisted us in choosing all of our finishes not only spent numerous hours with us sharing her expertise and guiding us through an overwhelming process and never once pressured us into choosing more expensive finishes but in fact helped us save money when possible and still achieve the high end look we were going for. We are excited to break ground and see our finished home.

Unresponsive - Misleading Customer Service

Unresponsive - Misleading Customer Service

Visited model home in June. Salesman-Keith couldn't show any properties and asked that I come back later.

Visited again in August - Made a Monday appointment with Salesman-Keith. I called first thing that morning to confirm, no answer, left a voicemail. Called twice more before the appointment and no answer. Salesman Keith didn't show.

Left numerous messages across the phone tree hoping to get a live person or a returned call.

Attended design center open house on September 4th to select options and ask questions.

Front Desk-Nina promised a call from Sales Manager & Sales VP the next day (Thursday, Setp. 5th)

Today is Wednesday, September 25th - Can not get a returned call. Have not been able to get any assistance. My concern would be this builder may be going out of business or not around much longer, otherwise, why would it be this difficult to get help spending $800,000?

Brookfield and Westin Homes have been extremely responsive and helpful.

We have purchased a new home from Scott Felder Hom...

We have purchased a new home from Scott Felder Homes. During the buyers walk through, we noticed that the flooring was not well installed and was bumpy and uneven. When we discuss this issue with construction manager, we surprisingly learned that the flooring was not the thick and durable laminate we chose. We realized that at design center they attached vinyl plank on top of a wood board and showed it to us as if it was laminate.

In order to resolve the flooring problem before closing, we had a meeting with the construction VP, Chris. He admitted that the flooring did have problem and apologized for the poor installation. We asked SFH to redo the floor with the laminate that we selected at the design center. At that point, Chris honestly told us that it won't be possible, because their supplier has never supplied laminate flooring to SFH.

Since this flooring was not what we agreed upon, and the quality of installation was very poor, we kept asking SFH to redo the floor, or if they refused to, then we would like to back out of the contract with full deposit of $25,000 back. Chris said that he will pass our request to the leadership of SFH, and promised us that they will definitely provide us with some type of solution, and that there is no way they would make us close with the floor in its current condition.

We could never have imagined what we received from SFH leadership next day was a simple, cold response to notify us that they would not redo the floor, and we would lose all of our deposit if we back out of the contract. Then we sent an email to the vice president of SFH, Mr. John Jones, and hoped to meet with him to find a better solution, but Mr. Jones replied that he refused to meet with us, and said that he would not change his decision. In his response, he deliberately ignored the poor installation of the flooring (He even said that he had gone through our new house and thought the floor was good!), but only emphasized that the flooring was the exact selection we made and signed off on. He also deliberately ignored the fact that in addition to the floor problem, that one of the A/C units, the Jacuzzi and many other problems were not yet fixed the day before closing, just blamed the delay of closing completely on us, and threatened that we were now in default and would lose our new house and all deposits in 7 days! In his lengthy letter, there was not even a slight sign of apology nor sincerity, but only ruthlessness and threats!

I noticed that SFH posted their response to my review, but I don t know how to reply. I put my response here. Now, from the response of Scott Felder Homes, everyone can clearly see how SFH shirk their responsibility and how they treat their customer.

The problem we are trying to address was that SFH showed us samples of the flooring that are very misleading. They should not attach the thin vinyl plank on a piece of wood board and then showed it to us as a laminate floor sample. In the whole process of selection, no one ever even mentioned the term of vinyl plank to us; but also they put bold letters of LAMINATE FLOORING in the contract. As what we were told later, if SFH has never provided laminate, why would they do all these? This is their trickery at its best.

In addition, if they had installed the "vinyl plank" in a professional fashion where the flooring was actually even and smooth instead of having visible bumpiness throughout the house in the first place, we would never have even questioned the flooring quality nor installation quality.

SFH should be responsible for their extremely poor quality of flooring installation and take effective way to solve the problem, rather than just list the terms of contract and emphasize that this floor is our own choice.

We spend nearly $440,000 to buy this brand new home from SFH, and we have every right to not accept this poorly installed floor. No matter what, we should not be forced to close on a home until the flooring problem (uneven/bumps) gets fixed.

we bought our SF home in 1993 in River Place. During the recent snow/ice storm we had zero problems with broken pipes. They know how to build in Central Texas even for severe weather. water pipes in foundation not in exposed walls saved the day.My other SF neighbors experienced no problems.

Have lived in a Scott Felder home in Rough Hollow (Lakeway, TX) for over 4 years and have been very satisfied with the quality of the construction and responsiveness of the staff at Scott Felder, even 4+ years after purchase. I would recommend the Scott Felder homes in this area to anyone.

It was just earlier this year that I made the decision to purchase my very first home. I had long known that this would be one of the biggest events in my life - a milestone to say the least - and I really wanted to make the right decisions throughout the process.

Rhonda Hogue has been professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. She listens to what I want, how I want, and even more importantly and impressive to me, she provides a refreshing candor throughout the process. She knows that I view my first home as an investment, that I only want to put money into selections that would appraise, and cautioned me when I strayed from that plan. We have run into a few snags in the construction process - a reality in any new construction - but Rhonda has been responsive, and an advocate on my behalf. Bradley Tighe has been extremely helpful in every way possible. Every issue I have had with the home big or small (usually small) he has heard me out, listened closely and made sure to take care of the issue at hand as best and as soon as he could. He truly helped curate the beautiful home we are happy to be living in. Both of these people have exemplified why I'm glad I chose Scott Felder and they deserve to be commended for it.

My wife and have purchased two Scott Felder homes....

My wife and have purchased two Scott Felder homes. However, the great company built by its namesake is NOT the same company. It has not been since 2014. Disregard the years of awards listed since 2014. It takes years for the voting of this type to catch up with reality. The two homes we had that were built when Scott Felder owned it were great homes.

We tried not once, but twice, with SIGNED contracts each time and earnest money deposited, to build another Scott Felder home,. That would be our third Scott Felder home. The first two were their higher priced and largest homes.

We contracted for their highest priced home, the Montana. Both times they raised the price AFTER everything was signed. We HAD a contract!

I know they counted on us to cave since we invested countless hours in the planning. We did not cave. And we had to chase down the refund of our earnest money on a signed contract. We had grounds to sue them for breach of contract, but being pragmatists, we knew they had a stable of lawyers ready to deny and delay any settlement for years.

Therefore, we walked away and will NEVER do business with them again. Never. Their loss.

I do love Scott Felder's home, they have well plan...

I do love Scott Felder's home, they have well planed home design and detailed finished home. However, I am trying to purchase new home in Caballo Ranch and there is lot of problem with Scott Felder. I do not know it is problem with this specific sale man or Scott Felder's policy. First impression when I visit Model home was the sale man look down on me and does not want to sell home to me. Does ASIAN can not buy Scott Felder home? I visited model three times since we really like the model home they want to sell. However, the sale man out there does not want to show the home and does not want to deal with me... When my wife visit to see the model, he told my wife "you can see the home 15 min since I have to leave due to another appointment" then he ask my wife leave less than 5 min..... Also, I think business hour of model home ans sale office at caballo ranch is 10AM to 6PM but he never show up 10AM.... and he leave before 5 PM every time when I visit caballo ranch.
The reason I was feeling that he discriminate me is When I was trying to make formal offer for model home he told me "there is someone who want to buy this home" and he did not want to deal with me.... Also, I stop by last week to get some estimation since my wife wants to build home as like model (because model home sold and we did not get a chance to make an offer!!!!). I made note to him (since other sale lady does not have detail information about option price and etc.......) to get estimation to build..... He never get me any information.
If you are Asian please do not ask or offer Scott Felder home since they do not want to deal with you!!!!!!
