I love my Schertz Library. Modern, clean building. My kids love story time on Wednesdays. The library staff keep the place clean and orderly, and are very helpful. Also, no smelly hobos and weirdos. ++

My kids really enjoy gong to the Schertz Library to play with some of the toys there and check out new books. The library has separate sides for kids and adults (which I'm sure the adults without kids appreciate). There's plenty of parking and there's a nice city park right next door with a big playscape.

We recently moved to the area and were in need of finding a library to study. We came upon the Schertz Library, which has pros and cons. It has plenty of study space and even study rooms(a bit small, 2 people max), but there appears to be a great deal of noise. You can hear the front desk help, patrons on cell phones, ringing cellphones, excessive talking, alarms going off, outside voice conversations within, patrons of all ages, who seem disconnected from the type of atmosphere expected within a library...quiet. I take it that use of the "inside voice" is not a requirement or consideration or necessary practice these days. How times have changed, but more noticeably the lack of respect for one another. Disappointed!!

This is a great library. Lots of great books and a good selection of audio books as well. Great kids section with computers specifically designated for the little ones and a large playground lies right outside the building. There are also ongoing activities for all ages throughout the month. This library is a great asset to the community.

This is the only place I go to study, but after today I don't know if this will be my go to place anymore. I've been coming here for years and have always used the study rooms. I like the peace, quiet, and the fact that it is enclosed. It keeps me from getting distracted from the regular movement of the library. Throughout the years, I have always used the rooms with the lights off. I've had librarians knock on the door and ask me to turn the light on, but after explaining that I cannot concentrate with it on they usually let me be. Today, I had a librarian barge into the room, turn on the light, tell me I need to keep it on, and left without me getting a word out. After staring at my untouched work for a few minutes, I proceeded to find her and tried to explain the situation and deals I've had with other librarians in the past. She said, well sorry but it is what it is and turned away.I understand that this is probably a policy fro your library, but I would think you would accommodate your patrons requests, especially if they are coming to you explaining the circumstances. I would understand not accepting the request if I was being noisy and not doing actual work in the room, but I was. I would also be more receptive if the librarian did not barge into the room the way they did to begin with. This is still a great library regardless, but I am upset with how they handled the situation. If the librarian would have came into the room in a nicer way and actually attempted to hear me out, instead of brush me off, I would not be writing this review. Regardless, this is a really nice library filled with various books for all ages. It's worth going to and checking out. They have events for kids and adults throughout the month . Don't let my one bad experience keep you from coming to a otherwise great place.

Beautiful library with large selection. The architecture and landscaping make a very nice place to study or relax. There is a playground and separate children's area. The adult section is VERY quiet. There are several private study/meeting rooms and plenty of tables/nooks for reading throughout. There is also a genealogy room in the back.

I love this library so much! I feel very welcome there and love that they are so inclusive of everyone. They have a great selection of books and my daughter really loves all the toys and activities they have in the kids room. It s wonderful that they have a nice play area right behind it as well. I love both this and the New Braunfels library.

Stay far, far away! Despite their lack or selection of books in the children's area (with no inter-library loan program that I was able to find) and their abnormally small limit on the number of items your allowed to check out, we chose to use this library any way because it was the closest to us. Big mistake! I have been using this library for 3 months now and it has been nothing but frustration and pain.

Due to the limited selection, 99% of the time I was not able to find the books that I wanted to check out and would have to put a hold in online. (Their lack of organization didn't help, but I usually checked in the computer just to be sure and they were almost always checked out.) When items were placed on the hold shelf, they were held for less than a week. Therefore, if they were placed on the shelf later in the day (after my visit) or the next day, I would have to make a special trip just to pick-up books rather than waiting until our next weekly visit. Majority of the books that we were able to check out were in some of the worst shape I've ever seen from library books (or any books for that matter). Often there was tape/mending done on every single page of the book. It also looked like the official "Schertz Library" stamp was given to a toddler who proceeded to stamp every third page or so.

Separate from my grievances with the books and general library system, the staff is some of the most unhelpful I've encountered to date. I often stood waiting for extended periods of time at the help desk in the children's area trying to figure out where the librarian could possibly be. One time I stood there for about 15 minutes and watched the librarian talk to a friend across the room. Periodically she would look up at me like "oh, you're still there" and then continue her conversation. When they finally finished their conversation in their own sweet time, she slowly made her way over to the desk and asked if she could help me with anything.

It seems like this library was given a lot of money to build a fancy building, and in that project they lost sight of the purpose of a library. I feel like visiting at least once a week every week for 3 months is more than enough time to "give them a chance". This location gives libraries a bad name and I for one don't want to support them.

NEVER GO THERE IF YOU ARE TRYING TO STUDY QUIETLY....

NEVER GO THERE IF YOU ARE TRYING TO STUDY QUIETLY. YOU CAN SEE THE OTHER REVIEWS AGREEING HOW LOUD IT IS. In the quiet room people are loudly talking and staff does not manage them at all. I was trying to study there for the first time but could not study due to the fact that people were loud. First I had to move because there was a guy who was tutoring in a quiet room loudly and I could clearly hear what they were talking about 2 rooms away. Then I moved to different quiet room but this time there was a women talking on a phone loudly 2 rooms away from me. So I decided to move again and for about 5 min it was quiet before a dad and 2 children decided to take the room right next to mine and the kids were yelling in a quiet room. Not only that but there was a kid who was crying in a library that was really loud and the staffs didn't do anything about it. The room is clearly called the "quiet room". This was one of the worst experience I had. Staff didnt care how loud the library was and didnt try to stop it. I usually never review the places that I had been but this is my first time. That's how bad this place is for studying. NEVER GO THERE IF YOU ARE TYING TO STUDY.

I am advising the host of the class I am apart of to find another location these employees and some of the people clearly aren't fond of our race to the point where I don't even like my 2 year old daughter playing there afterwards or at the children's part of the library but kids will be kids and want to socialize. I hate having them in environments where they aren't welcome by staff or parents who teach their kids not to play with well mannered black children my baby is 2, very well behaved and enjoys playing with other kids since she started going to daycare this year and I have serious paranoia and anxiety when I'm there because I know she will be mistreated if I don't have her with me i deal with this enough living on Bandera. I'm hoping this class will be moved soon the facility is beautiful but I can peacefully admire from a distant. They didn't even really want to give me a calendar of events for me and my babies to be a part of and we are peaceful people. I've kept my mouth closed for weeks I'm over it I don't want to go back where my skin and my babies skin color is an issue.

Such a beautiful library, with great features - study rooms, computers, lots of tables and spots with outlets. Great and ideal for studying, quiet spaces, and quiet areas. However, it's right next to the Schertz Highschool. The staff here don't care about the general public, but rather want to allow all the kids the freedom. It's extremely noisy, not only from the many high schoolers around, but also the circulation desk themselves. It's ridiculous to call this place a good spot to study. It's a shame that they don't regulate talking. I wasted my time driving from San Antonio to visit a beautiful "library" that should really be named to "kids common area." There's kids congregating in study rooms talking loudly, near the bathrooms, near the vending machine and entrances. It's ridiculous.

This is the best library on this side of town!! Plenty of computers, nice sitting areas, and they have private rooms where you can study and use your laptop. If you need to use the internet you get 6 sessions at 120 minutes per session!! No other library I ve been to gives that much time on the computer (12 hours). The only negative is the kids from Clemens who hangout in front of the library and in the vending area after school. For that reason, I try to do what I need to do and leave by 1:30 or so. I ve never had an issue or anything but I like peace and quiet when I go to the library and they can be loud.

I really enjoy going to this library... it s open lots of sitting and even a separate children s area with a play area and sitting for parents as well. The staff is nice and willing to offer help. Great playscape, YMCA, and Aquatic Center next the the library. Also, this library stays open later than other libraries in the area especially, during the week which works great for the working class college student, like myself.
