Welcoming restaurant with friendly staff who are focused on providing you with a pleasant stay

A nice interior service good but the coffee that you get for is poor.

Beautiful setting and the breakfast was great! But then .. we rented the Standard Log Cabin for two days. The cottage was very dirty. Cobwebs everywhere and lots of dust. It was clear that this has not had a really good cleaning in years. In addition, the entire house was full of mosquitoes. The beds are very small, my 1.86 partner barely fit in. There are no photos of the bathroom online and I understand that now. It is a small cubicle of 1 by 2 meters. You are taking a shower near the toilet and everything gets soaking wet. Toilet is also not fresh.

Had lunch here in transit.
After we had a cup of tea fairly quickly and asked if we could get the lunch card, we had to wait for our food for an hour and a half.
The ordered water never got there.
So no lunch here for us a second time.

There was a misunderstanding about our booking but it was sorted out. Service was excellent.

Recently I was surprised by family and friends with a baby shower in the restaurant of the Scandinavian village. We had a private corner that the ladies were allowed to decorate themselves and high tea was served. Very nice organized! However, the thermos cans are very dangerous !!! While pouring the cap came off and I got half a jug of hot water over my legs. Quickly to the toilet to cool down and asked my partner to bring dry clothes. Everyone was very shocked. I was still 'lucky' that it had crossed my legs and not my pregnant belly. My legs felt burning for days and it took a long time before the burn spots were pulled away. Of course we reported this to the ministry / supervisor, but he barely responded. There was no excuse, they were not asked how I was doing and they were not surprised because it happened more often ... Weekly even !! That they do not yet realize how dangerous those jugs are. They are therefore not going to do anything about this. Ah yes ma'am, all those emotions also during pregnancy ... You are simply not taken seriously. Scandalous!

Update: in the meantime there has been contact with the owner. This reacted very shocked and understanding. The jugs are being replaced and an apology has been offered.

I keep returning to this place and keep being disappointed about the food. Meat didn't have any flavour whatsoever, no single pinch of salt or pepper. Dessert (small cakes) was dry and not so nice. Our server was super sweet and nice, so that is a plus, but while going to the bathroom inside I have heard the staff talking and swearing some of the clients in Dutch (they didn't know I speak some Dutch as well). Maybe it was just a bad day, but this is what I saw. Location is amazing, which is why I keep returning there :)

The restaurant has surprising dishes. Not much choice of dishes, but of good quality. Nice troll cave under the floor.

The standard house is very basic. Looks snug and cozy for children. In itself cheap, but do not expect luxury from a hotel.
Everything you need is in it. Do bring your own coffee and tea. Gas heater nice and warm.
2 sockets available.

The disadvantage of the house is the musty air, 1 small window can open with dirty mesh in front.
The shower is also very tight and the beds short, narrow with a low sloping roof. Mattress is thin.
Not suitable for people taller than 1.75m
You must leave the house clean, but do they also do a cleaning round themselves? Certainly with covid it seems to me that cleaning should be done properly.
(under our bed there were balloons, candy wrappers etc, gave camp house feeling)
Brought my own bedding. Didn't regret this.

We had booked 1 night at the beginning of July in the hikers' cabin, as sisters away. The restaurant seems very nice, so the location is super. the hiker's cabin was disappointing, dusty and not completely clean. a bit old, to say the least. Not expensive, everything is in it. The beds are in a separate room for 1.5 people, but too weak. the ventilation is also not enough, in hot weather you have a problem here. I think these hikers' cabins are no longer of this time for such a beautiful location. If you expect little, this is fine and you have the space around you. There may be a little more attention for it.

We spent an unforgettable evening here that was well cared for. All credits for the staff and for Maan - who was our hostess - in particular.

What a lovely place. The weather was bad, but we could enjoy ourselves very well in our house with heated floor, large whirlpool bath and wonderfully soft bed. In the morning they knocked on the door for a nice breakfast. It was delicious.

It looks very nice and the concept is nice too, but then you expect something. It is not the cheapest to sit there, because you pay for the entourage. I say this specifically, because the quality is the same as the Ikea, also Scandinavian. I had a high-tea up to 2 times and that was OK, but also a lot from the wholesale from the freezer. The waffles that are so nice on the menu are not special. We always eat these waffles with family in Sweden and that is a completely different story! Moreover, they are often filled with a kind of bakery cream. Drinking tea there in the morning is nice, but I would not choose it anymore. You sit there nice and cozy and therefore you kick in to go there, but otherwise you should not expect much from it (the food, drinks and cakes). Yes, you try to convince yourself that it's good .... But that's all atmosphere .... No more for me .... Or maybe, in a year

The food is good, but she completely got out of a celiac diet. They couldn't guarantee gluten free. We had specified this in advance when booking, but that had not made it to the kitchen. Very unprofessional.
Many mistakes were made in the ministry, but according to them it was because of the start-up after the Corona.
The three points are mainly earned by the good food.

Basic log cabin but with a (quiet) camping atmosphere. As good as the lake. Luxury restaurant there. With take away for breakfast, dinner etc. Yes, great for a few days to a week of vacation. Groningen city within cycling distance. Just like the villages of Haren and Paterswolde.

Place for a leisurely breakfast of the day or for lunch overlooking the nature. In general, if you want to eat slowly - here)

Very bad experience. Rude and impolite, they lost our reservation of two nights and only because our Dutch friend explained the situation the woman at the check in admitted the mistake, even though we spoke English and we had a confirmation email. At the beginning she told us we had not reservation, after half an hour she told us we had reserved only one night and after my Dutch friend called them by phone she admitted we had a reservation for 2 nights. She offered a night in another hotel for one night and we could had come back the day after for one night. The other hotel was 20 minutes far by car but we had not accepted because there was another one available very close to this one and we wanted two nights in the same place because we had plans and didn t want to waste time in check in and check out. Maybe we would have accepted if the woman had been kind but she was so rude and unwelcoming that we just wanted to go far from that place. She has been so unpleasant that we were not interested anymore they paid for their mistake. We just didn t want to stay there one minute more. It was dinner time and we arrived after many hours traveling and we received only impoliteness. So unpleasant experience which has lasted at least one hour. Unacceptable.
We have some Dutch friends who live really close and we have told them what happened in order to avoid advising this place anymore.
My suggestion for this camping is to recommend this woman to be polite and welcoming and offer at least a glass of water and a chair while she does her (wrong) verifications.

Beautiful location, where a lot can and can do a lot. You really get a holiday feeling from it. Just a pity that there is not much to eat for the vegetarian bar. Otherwise I would definitely come there more often.

Was good food, unfortunately got a wrong dish in the first instance. Fortunately, it was quickly restored when I approached the ministry.

The food was out of the art but there was a lot of noise and music you could hardly understand each other. They have to do something about it.

Bad. Bathroom full of mold. They cleaned it but I think everyone cleans differently. Received our deposit back without having checked it. So we didn't shower there.

Unfortunately many stray dogs on the terrace while mine was stuck. Little choice of sandwiches. But fine. Friendly staff.

You shouldn't expect comfort, but super delicious dishes.

Beautiful surroundings at the Paterswoldsemeer. Due to the pandemic, the restaurant was closed. The staff present was very friendly. Definitely recommended if you like peace and quiet, walking and / or cycling.

The atmosphere is nice, the service friendly and the food tasty. A great place so, but it is very busy (and therefore noisy) and the high tea snacks are all quite predictable and not special, with bonbons from the supermarket for example. We expected a little more. It was nice that you could choose from 61 types of tea via the "tea wall".

Nice surprising restaurant with Scandinavian products as expected. Good value for money. Village consists of a kind of log cabins, which now seemed hardly occupied in high season. A shame because the lake is 100 m away. Could it be because they just didn't look well cared for? Unfortunately.

Nice place for the camper, free, good WiFi. Nice restaurant is on adjacent park. In the summer it will be difficult to find a place here I fear ..

Always tasty waffles and a great terrace with a view of the Paterswoldsemeer. And of course not to forget the nice log cabins to spend the night.

Very tasty food and fantastic service. They really think along with you or even ahead. The surroundings are beautiful. All in all, quite an experience. Highly recommended!

Cozy and atmospheric restaurant from a cup of coffee to an extensive meal, everything is possible.

Wheelchair accessible restaurant with disabled parking places. Underground parking is difficult for wheelchair users.

Upon arrival we immediately had to wait half an hour until we were helped. While we already had a difficult journey. Then we were guided to our stay by a popi jopi figure, who later turned out to be the manager. When the cottage was opened, a sewer air came directly at us. We didn't want that and asked for another cabin. We could go somewhere else for 1 day, but the next day we had to go back to the sewer cottage. At the reception there was gossip behind us about us, that we were too difficult. When the manager came back, he already had the money in his hands to give back to us. He just wanted us out. And that while we came specially from Brussels to there for a week. They will never see us again and I advise everyone not to go there. No customer friendliness if you want to stay overnight.

Having a high tea with friends, outside of the time that was mentioned on the menu. This was not a problem. Many different kinds of tea and the tasty snacks were not all served.

Hiker's cabin was a disappointment, floor was sticky dirty, there was a nail sticking out of the floor where my 6 year old daughter was hurt, all this for an amount that we had received room and breakfast in the adjacent family hotel.
I regret at check out defendant ... I received a "thank you" but no sorry!

Absolutely a place that is worth visiting when you are living in the area! Visited this place several times and really appreciate the warm atmosphere (I guess the warm fireplace also really helped with that!). The personnel was really enthusiastic and you could notice that they were enjoying what they were doing. This is also one of the few places I know where you can still order a dish off the menu and be really amazed by the level of creativity and attention they put in it.

A super wooden hut village. It is very cozy. The main house offers a really great restaurant with a fireplace.
