The food is amazing, staff is Great!!! Ordering from Washington D.C. for family in Dallas!
Got pizza for carry out yesterday, I love love love their pizza, it's just one of those kinds that you crave and no other pizza will do. I have eaten inside the restaurant before also, and I think the only negative thing I can say about this place is the parking is a total headache but not uncommon in the Lakewood area. Pizza is definitely worth the dealing with the difficult paking.
Great pizza but ify customer service waited over 20 minutes to get acknowledged
I grew up in Lakewood. My huge family has come to Scalini s for years and years. It s one of our most favorite restaurants! I now live in Austin but every time I come home to Dallas, Scalini s is our first stop. Consistently delicious pizzas and amazing service, great family feels!
The greatest pizza and salad in the known universe.
Scalini's is the Best Italian restaurant I know. They make everything from scratch and you can tell it. The portions are large. I always get extra meatballs.
So I've been going to this place with my friend for quite some time and the time I decided to order to go I waited nearly an hour...Of course they offer me a beverage while I waited but people came in to pick up and went out meanwhile Im waiting for my order ...very disappointed.
Fair prices, food is ok but the pizzas are very good. They have toasted ravioli, my favorite in St. louis mo, I was so glad when I saw it on the menu; I ask for the sauce on the side otherwise they get soggy. Small but cozy , and the pizzas are very popular. It does get busy at times so be prepared.
This should have been a 5 star review.... The pizza not only smelled great and looked great but it also tasted great! The real bummer came when I got home... The side of ranch I ordered turned out to be 2 little Hidden Valley Ranch packets... What a disappointment. Hidden Valley Ranch is by far the worst pre made non refrigerated ranch! Every pizza place worth their salt should always have home made ranch... Cut my experience in half as I'm sure other ranch lovers feel.
Really tasty Italian dishes here. Many wine options to enjoy in a quaint and cozy atmosphere.
Awsome service and great food!!! Will most definitely return here about once a week. See yall soon!!
Very good local neighborhood Italian, pizza pasta ,what them doing it well
Good food. Better than olive garden that's for sure.
Marinara sauce was delicious that s about it and so were the mozzarella sticks. The pizza however was horrible. Crust had flour on the bottom and every time I took a bite I had powder around my mouth, and it was served at room temperature. Service was slow however waiter was friendly. Overall very disappointing experience.-
The pizza was good but was a bit too soft for my taste but still yummy. I was eager to try the Fettuccine Alfredo but once I received it I was very disappointed. It had no flavor AT ALL... we paid $12 for a plate neither my brother or I touched. The service was a tad slow, but nice.
Love this place. My husband and I had our first date here now were take ours kids... perfect atmosphere for all ages.
Quiet and quaint local Italian restaurant with friendly locals and service.
The guy over the phone was very kind and polite. Amazing service, I will order from here in the near future
Cool neighborhood atmosphere in the restaurant. We had a 54min ticket time when quoted 20-25min on a take out pizza.
Being new to the area, I was really excited to try this place out. I can understand the kitchen getting backed up on a Friday night. However, no one apologized for the wait or their misquoting the prep time. If they had told me it would take an hour to get a pizza I would have understood and waited to try them a different night. When we got there and found out the pizza wasn t ready, we sat at the bar and asked if we could have a drink and possibly eat our pizza there depending on how long it would take. They said we could. We sat at the bar for 30min having only been greeted with waters. No one came back around to ask if we wanted a beer or glass of wine. The bill for our pizza arrived 10min before the pizza and was dropped without a word. When the pizza was finished it was handed to us in a to go box. We took this and not having been served a drink as a sign that they didn t want us to dine there after all. We ate at home. The pizza was above average and a good value.
I am disappointed at the lack of service. It seemed like they didn t care we were there. Try going on a weeknight. The atmosphere and food seemed promising.
Wonderful food, horrifying manger! I am a regular customer there and called last night to complain about a server being rude to me when I placed a pizza delivery order over the phone and also to make sure they got the order right since they have made so many mistakes for which I have overlooked time and time again. The manger "Mandy" was horrifying to me. She began immediately being defensive rather than listen and started accusing me of "lying" and telling me I had a mental illness..hanging up on me without even listening to my problem. I became so angry at the insults that I called back to speak to the owner and then she began saying I was "stalking" her! I was furious by this point. She began, once insulting my "mental" state, yelling.... not allowing me to speak, insulting me and hanging up. I will find the owner of this place Mandy!
Really solid! The chicken piccatta was the best thing!
Delicious everything, especially the pizza! My favorite in Dallas by far!
Average American-Italian in a nice, mom & pop atmosphere. Pizza seems to be their strong suit.
Walked in thinking it was under the other name.
Ordered the combo plate.
This place doesn't serve very creamy white sauces but the flavor behind them is so superbly placed together its a dream.
Even the bread rolls are fresh and hot and soft with just the right amount of garlic and butter that they almost melt in your mouth. I was a little sceptical at first but these guys came out on top with Five Star Flavor.
I deliver for Favor and I had a customer OUT OF SCALINI'S delivery area request an order from here. They were super nice on the phone, and greeted me warmly when I walked in. As soon as they saw my favor shirt the female scowled and started talking about me to the other 2 employees behind the counter. What they fail to realize is, while they're not getting the delivery fee-they wouldn't deliver to my customer anyway. They should appreciate the fact that they're getting the order AT ALL. I'm doing the job THEY WOULDN'T DO! Do you really think a favor customer would rather pay our delivery/processing fee's that are actually higher than a standard delivery fee by choice? Absolutely not! Don't bite the hand that feeds you and treat everyone the same. Got all she knew I was off work and grabbing dinner for my family. Food smelled great and the gentleman who stepped in and cashed me out was super hospitable. Were it not for her lack of customer service and just down right rude, much unnecessary commentary I would have rated higher. I have to make a living just like she does.
Excellent food, small place but worth it!!!! Headed to celebrate another family bday now... :")
Love Scalini's. Most of the time I have it delivered, but highly recommend going in for a nice intimate dinner. The place is very nostalgic looking and in the evening time low lit and comfortable. Food is super good, and the flat crust pizza is pretty darn good too.
Not sure what this was, but it wasn't Itallian food. First, ordering delivery they only managed to get half the order entered and delivered. they made up for the mistake by throwing in a small price of cheese cake free. I ordered the baked ravioli figuring it would be some breaded ravioli with dipping sauce. Nope!!! it was breaded ravioli covered in red sause and cheese. what happens when you cover something that is breaded with something moist? it becomes a soggy Mesa which is exactly what this was, a nasty soggy mess. moving on the the main dish, I ordered a simple spegettie with meat sauce and had some itallian sausage added. I wanted itallian sausage not a sliced up hot dog. this was absolutely the worst itallian sausage I have every had. it was so far from itallian sausage I feel bad tarnishing the name of itallian sausage by associating what ever this was with it. moving on the the meat sauce. if I wanted walmart brand canned pasta sauce I could hsve gotten it myself. the sause was pretty much tomato past with meat in it, completely devoid of any seasoning or efford. So if you looking for anything other than a nice treat for you dog I'd steer clear of this place.
This place is great. The spaghetti is awesome and so is the pizza
Great little spot for some good Italian food. A Dallas must!
We love the pizza at Scalini's, but out first experience dining IN was less than desirable. The waitress (black curly hair, Shannon) was rude to say the least, she spoke to both of us as if we were stupid when we asked questions about the menu, as if we should already know. She must have smarted off to other customers as well, because out of the 3 other tables in the entire restaurant, 2 of them asked for her name in a disgruntled manner. We overheard her and one lady talking about toppings, and she must have done the same thing to her as she did us because the lady finally told her "I'm not ignorant, this is just my first time here." She definitely put a damper on our lunch, as I said we love the pizza but won't be back to see her.
Pizza on a cafeteria tray...didnt think i would it love it so much. I also enjoyed the pesto bread.
This is one of the best small Italian kitchens I've had the pleasure of experiencing. The pizza and pasta are fantastic. Old style ma and pop feel. Be wary of market priced items though and wine list is lacking diversity. Recommend highly!
The inside is a but tight, but the food was very good. I will be going back.
There small pizzas come on a plastic tray and are definitely big enough for two. Consider their lunch size pizza if you are not sharing!
I had a really wonderful time here and I'm looking forward to coming back as often as possible. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the service is attentive, and the food was so delicious!
Their Chicken pesto pizza is our family's favorite!!
Great pizza
Always get italian sausage with medium sauce
Great tasting pizza and the customer service is an A+!
This place is an East Dallas institution. Great pizza and the rest of the menu dine in is superb.
Good wine list.
Service is always spot on.
Visit this place and you will not be disappointed.
Place is decent...not the best. It's extremely close to home and had never noticed it was there. Looked on Google and decided to give it a shot. Had a medium pizza, salad, and bottle of wine, total tab was around $50 bucks. Which to me was more than fair. Pizza was good but not my fav. The service was excellent and therefore is more of the reason for my higher rating. I would come here again when I don't feel like going too far.
CHICKEN PESTO TO DIE FOR,, so freakin delicious... great food and quick service
Quality food, quaint neighborhood feel. To-go orders and delivery are always an option if they are crowded.
Got a large pepperoni pizza with feta cheese and fettuccini Alfredo, was delicious.
Classic Italian at its BEST! Quaint, cozy, very affordable, local, friendly and always terrific!
The pizza here is AMAZING! I love the Alfredo Pizza (Alfredo sauce, shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes and scallions). Everything's good, but I crave this pizza so much, I'm on my way to get one right now!
Excellent, excellent, excellent local Italian restaurant. This place is small and intimate enough for a date, is reasonably priced, and the food is never disappointing. As someone from St. Louis, seeing toasted Ravioli on the menu brings back memories of places on the Hill. This is a "secret" local treasure and should be treated as such.
This is a hidden gem. I will be back for sure. The house wine was great and the pizza was delicious. Next time I will try the pasta
The food was pretty good. However our order took way too long. The item that delayed it was the evening's special. Still, not a bad place. Just set your expectations, kick back and let things come when they're ready. But don't expect to be kept apprised of any delays.
Rock-solid neighborhood joint that delivers, literally and figuratively.
Known for the pizza, but that Penne and Shrimp Romano is where it's at. They do charge for splitting a plate which is a bummer, but then again it's a great reason to step up and get your own plate so you don't have to share with your wife like I did.
We have been good patrons for over 25 years. Changes in management has done nothing but disappoint us. Tried to place an order with the manager tonight, but he was so very rude to me when I was trying to order, I was shocked. Needless to say we will not be back or request delivery again. Sad.
I believe the mgr was Cam. During these crazy times , I thought we were all trying to accommodate one another. ????
Hmmm good food and ambience.
Had good pasta and salad.
Staff was great.
Scalingus makes tasty chicken prarm. Get yourself a plate! For your health
This place is amazing all the food is delicious, the service is great and honestly deserve 5 stars if it wasn t for the owner. Seriously I felt pretty let down when I called ahead to see about a menu item, got told it was being sold today, show up and get told its sold out when I just called 10min before.
This place is phenomenal and will definitely be going back. Prices is just right for the food. The taste exquisite.
Best Pizza in the Lakewood area. The manager Mandy made my dining experience second to none. Would recommend this place to anyone I know.
East Dallas fixture. Just like I remember as a kid.
Never seen pizza served on cheap plastic rectangular food-line cafeteria-style trays before.
When thinking Italian I think scalinis. I come here minimum once a month. If the food I enjoy was healthier I would come more. I enjoy their shrimp pasta primavera. And I enjoy their fries. The ambience is super relaxing and comfy. I enjoy this so much.
So disappointing. I decided to try this place because of the positive reviews, but my husband and I were VERY disappointed. I went in on Saturday afternoon, around 130pm and order two sandwiches to go. That's it. There was only 1 other large table there who had already ate and was cashing out. I sat at the bar waiting for my food and proceeded to wait 35 minutes. After 35 minutes I had to ask about the food and then it was magically ready. Although I was annoyed, I figured the great food would compensate for the long wait. Boy was I wrong. My husband's meatball sub had dry meatballs that were hardly seasoned. He couldn't even eat it. My chicken parm sandwich was clearly frozen chicken with scant marinara sauce. While it was edible, it was just average. The side salad was wilted and not fresh. The olives were mushy and from a can.
Maybe there pizzas and pasta are better, but I will never know. This is the first and last time I will eat here.
Such great food! Love the atmosphere of the restaurant and the quickness of their delivery service. Definitely one of my favorite Italian places in Dallas.
This restaurant has been here for years! I must admit I had not visited in many years. I had a pleasant experience, music was great and relaxing atmosphere. My dish tasted very good with the exception of the chicken (it was somewhat dry, otherwise it had a great taste), the side salad was amazing very fresh tasting. Great service!
My favorite Italian place in the area. The Veal Parm and a large pizza, can't beat it! Also, one of the few places that have Peroni on tap!
The primavera pasta paired with a glass of Stemmari Pinot Nior.....so delicious!
Pasta Primavera was tasty! My favorite place for Italian and atmosphere in Dallas.
Great pizzas, pastas, etc. The staff is friendly and they pay attention to their service. It's usually pretty crowded so you may want to call ahead, but it's rarely a long wait for a table even if you just pop in while you're in the neighborhood.
