We have been using Mike and his staff for several years. When we first came to him, it was after two horror stories with other accountants. He got us compliant, helped train my wife on Quickbooks and made sure that we were doing things the right way. It can get overwhelming juggling clients, employees and the everyday tasks of running a business. It is tremendously relieving to know that when we have a question or run into an odd situation in accounting or payroll, Mike and his staff are quick to provide the right answer. When I was buying a new truck in December, Mike made sure that I knew the requirements to get the best tax break for what I was doing -- even going the extra mile to do the necessary research! You truly cannot go wrong with this company!
I originally posted a glowing review but after having used SBS for the past several years a different picture has emerged. I have been over billed for hours of pointless busy work. My accounting is inaccurate and now needs serious attention. Mike has been more interested in the hours he can bill me instead of watching out for my business. Unfortunately SBS steadfastly refuses to ask necessary questions and makes erroneous assumptions. My tax bill increased because he refused to properly code legitimate business expenses. He is rude and condescending. If you are considering using SBS, you had better be a man he has no respect for women at all.
Mike is good with numbers but his practical business experience is woefully inadequate given his high regard for himself.

I had previously recommended multiple people to SBSCPA Group. I have sat down with Mike for meetings and not had issues. Until I called him out on his unfair pricing structure.
I have very very simple taxes, the type that TurboTax does for free. However out of respect for the fact that he was working with my family business I sent my taxes to him. He charged me $250 for about 15 min worth of work. Along with the THOUSANDS he cost us by claiming/assuming our business expenses were personal despite providing all the necessary paperwork.
He also proceeded to charge my sister for her taxes (a student at OSU) with again extremely simple taxes. Charged her $250 left her broke and crying because he refused to charge our account like he had done numerous times before.
I immediately called Mike to rectify the situation, he apologized claimed it was a misunderstanding and he would reach out to apologize to my sister.
No apology was ever received and I have been told they will no longer work with me.
That s perfectly fine, I will be enjoying my refund this year instead of handing the entire thing to SBSCPA Group.
We have also gone ahead and reached out to our previous referrals to let them know to take a hard look at their books before sending in anything for 2020.

If i could give them no stars I would! Do not use i repeat do not use Tanner!!! I am a first time business owner and Tanner just left me hanging. And charged me $400 to make a phone call seriously thats what my invoice says. Slurrping on his drink the entire time during our first meeting should have warned me. I desperately wanted and needed sbs cpa group to be all that their reviews said they were. Maybe they are but Tanner is not. DO NOT GO TO TANNER!!!!!!!
