Historic building downtown. Well-run, worth checking out.
Wonderful presentation of the magic flute. One other good experience was the valet parking.
We went to the concert at noon and it was great! Perfect one hour length for my daughter to enjoy a taste of opera.
it beautiful in side and out a historical landmark but they need to fix some stuff that look like they have neglected to fix arm rest are broken off and roof was leaking
Beautiful and historic opera house built in 1926 and serving as home to Sarasota's very fine opera company.
I went there for a graduation ceremony for my stepson. It was a really neat place
Always has a good variety of shows. Not much leg room!
Very well managed facility, usually offers valet parking, ushers very helpful.
Many restaurant/bar/cafes nearby.
A great building with wonderful acoustics to enjoy an opera or a musical performance. Enjoy a great dinner then see a performance at the Sarasota Opera House. Experience the best of Sarasota.
My first opera, Turandot, and it was delightful!. The orchestra and cast we're top notch. Seats are comfortable and there is no bad seat.
My first time there. Was opening night. The production was great. Thought people would have dressed better, I've seen better at baseball games
I have yet to see an opera here that wasn't fantastic.
A MUST in Sarasota! Delightful small theatre, all the seats are good. Catch the opera if you can, the company is excellent
The food and the wine we're fantastic. But listening to the children sing really made the event exceptional!
Wonderful atmosphere, talented performers, beautiful ballet!!!
How lucky were we to be in Sarasota for the opera season ! Even luckier to see and hear the seldom performed Verdi opera 'Jerusalem'.
What a lovely production and a marvellous cast and orchestra. We hope that we can see it again if the company decide to keep it in their repetoire.
The opera season was well worth the trip from Brighton, UK.
Very nice venue. I attended someone's graduation here, so I don't know much about it, but the lobby & interior are beautiful, and I appreciate the fact that it's so easy to find because it's right on the corner.
Beautiful historic building. Amazing acoustics. Classic productions.
Saw the Russian Ballet school perform the wizard of oz! Bravo!
Outstandingly posh....yet humble in its breadth. Keep up the marvelous work and all that you do for the SRQ community!
Awsome Opera House. For a opera lover like me is like touching heaven with my own hands. There are no words to explain how good I felt in that beautifull buildind in the nice city of Sarasora.
Attended Ditchfield Family Christmas Concert! Awesome!
Loved the Opera House; loved the ballet. Everything I could have imagined
Delightful program! Important to me because my granddaughter takes lessons from the clarinetist...and my grandaughter was entranced with the program and her teacher!
Further, I was surprised at the format. Not used to watching the stage re arranged based on the program of music!
The musician skills were fantastic. As a keyboard person it was gratifying to watched their adjustments based on the program.
I would recommend attending any of their programming simply for the musicianship.
Yes, I'm biased..I am a keyboard person and enjoy fantastic musicianship when I
Hear it...
The Opera house was very nice. It possessed a comfortable atmosphere. The indoor waiting area was small but pleasant to wait for the show but they also had a larger outdoor waiting/intermission area next to thier concessionaire service.
It appeared that they only serve beverages such as soda and coffee for the matinee. It looked like they serve alcohol (Draft Beer) for shows in the evening. For snacks they had candy bars, chips and other minor items. Prices were not overly outrageous either, but a slightly larger coffee cup would have been nice.
The theater itself is excellent. The aisles are just nearly wide enough for 2 way traffic with wheelchairs it seems. The seats are comfortable and my legs did not fall asleep after three hours in the seat.
Parking is an unmitigated and unholy nightmare. I had to arrive and hour early and spent nearly 40 minutes looking for parking for a Saturday matinee. That was the only down side though it is a big one.
I was going to give it a 3 star rating, because of the parking, but the staff are excellent and they gave an experience that actually made me forget about the parking for a while so I added a star just for their amazing skill and service while I attended the performance.
Beautiful venue. The staging, scenery, costumes, and singing were all breathtaking.
This is a wonderful opera company. The singers were magnificent, the costumes and sets were excellent, and I loved that the Opera House is small and intimate. A really good experience.
I went for my daughter's graduation and it was a very nice establishment!
Gorgeous location... walking distance to most food and nightlife. Comfortable seats, good viewing angles.
Excellent performance of Carmen...scenery, costumes were great and singing and performance was outstanding. A great opera venue.
Beautiful, smaller opera venue with extraordinary talent and very responsive and supportive patrons!
Very nice venue. Parking is a bit scarce. Best bet is to park across the street at the library.
Great place to go in Sarasota for an Opera or a ballet. Never a bad performance. Top notch.
Beautiful building and great performance by the youth opera!
Excellent venue for performances. Parking challenging
We just love going to Sarasota Ballet presentations at the 'Opera Haus!
A MUST in Sarasota! Delightful small theatre, all the seats are good. Catch the opera if you can, the company is excellent
World class, magnificent performances by the Montrose Trio and oboist Nathan Hughes. As good as it gets!
Great production of Romeo and Juliet!! Orchestra!! Voices! Costumes! Love this venue!
The Ditchsfield family sang their Christmas concert there and they were awesome as always and the stage was greatly decorated and the seating and atmosphere was great as always.
A beautiful venue but the seating is very old, squeaky and uncomfortable to sit in longer then a few mintues. If the seating was updated I would see more performances because it really is a charming space.
Another beautiful Sarasota treasure.
Have dinner in one of the many nearby restaurants.Walk to the theatre in a starlight evening.
Located in an ornate circa 1926 building.
Beautifully produced classic operas.Take your mind off the mundane and be transformed.
A new Happy place that will pleasure your memories forever.
Like in Europe refreshments between Acts.Sit in the outdoor courtyard sip some wine and relive all the melodies in your mind.Beautiful evenings, delightful and refreshing.
Oh yes, one more thing stop for pastries and coffee afterwards.
I ll be back.
Saw the classic movie "The Wizard of Oz" and it was great. Starting off with a Bugs Bunny Cartoon then this classic movie. What a great place to watch a movie.
A true Sarasota gem. Great venue. I attend the movie nights, great classics to enjoy on the BIG screen.
Performers and Performances were superb. I have a new love of Opera!
The Opera House is graceful and I don't think they have a bad seat in the house. All seats are close enough to the stage to allow all to enjoy an excellent performance.
If you like Opera, do yourself a favor and buy a ticket! You will not be disappointed!
Excellent opera experience. Can't be beat! Great social distancing, hygiene measures, so it felt safe to be there. Good music and talented singers, too. LOved it
Beautiful building. Good sound. Every seat is good
Would recommend this theater for good Opera. All seats provide great views. Acoustics were excellent
Black Nativity was excellent. Enjoyed every minute of it. Fabulous voices.
And historic old opry House well-maintained beautiful lobby comfortable seating.
Got to see a wonderful performance by the Sarasota orchestra! We absolutely loved it and will be back to see more performances. The only complaint I have was the air conditioning. We were seated up at the top/back of the balcony and all of us in the last few rows were sweating. As far as sound goes, I don't think there is a bad seat in the house! Go see a performance here whenever you have the chance!!!
The Opera House in downtown Sarasota is a massive building with adjacent garden. Everywhere are small signs showing this bank, that staircase etc was donated by a certain person. The Opera has good acoustic and big screen shows English texting because as usual the opera uses the original language, ie. Italian for Verdis Traviata.
I loved this place. Acoustics are sensational. The physical appearance is wonderful. Not sure about the left side balcony seating I chose but that said you can clearly see the stage. I will definitely return.
It is a beautiful place with great performances! I have been there a few times with My Husband (a huge Opera lover) and we have never been dissapointed.
Beautiful venue. Saw the Nutcracker. Lead dancers were very good.... the rest was mediocre at best. Would go again to check any other show. Great to have in our backyard.
A beautiful venue that you do not expect to see behind a relatively modest facade.
Amazing opera house. I really liked the layout. Up close and personal to the Opera Singers. And the acoustics are amazing.
it was very nice and organized. shout out to the employee who told me "you're not allowed to bring water in the theatre area, so make sure to hide it under your jacket. I didnt see anything." also if you go down the street theres a BEAUTIFUL art exhibit that you can visit while youre waiting for the show to start. they were giving out free meringues whIP
