Absolutely horrible. Mandatory coat check 4$. Only let in with an ID. Staff tried to steal items out of my bookbag. Security left the door open and let people in and out. Whats the point of checking people when they come in but not checking them when they go outside then come back in? Sound quality was terrible. Each set played at this one particular show I went to had sound problems and their mics and amps stopped working between songs. Lighting was terrible. The one thing I liked was the couches and the big pink disco ball in the main room. This place is way too cramped. They should not have the merch tables right next to the bathroom and the coat check there was no room to get around. Overall terrible experience and not worth the money.
Waste of money. Club was full of guys. The ratio was probably 30:1. Won't recommend. They charged us cover even when we took bottle service. Pathetic. I have been to so many clubs in NYC this one was the worst.
ok venue, but they do host fun events like kostume kult occasionally.
the best and easiet place to go dancing for those who have been living in manhattan for at least 5 years. the antithesis to 10th avenue guidoville.
Doors were supposed to open at 6pm, and did not open until 8.
After my bag check I was sent downstairs with several other people for what they made us think was a mandatory $4 coat check. Turns out it wasn't, and when I went back to get my coat after noticing that everyone else upstairs had theirs, the little girl working there insisted it was indeed mandatory, and that "they'd start sending people down here", and wouldn't return it to me.
The bathrooms are as dark as the venue itself, so I couldn't tell if they were clean or not. I was barely out of the stall and not even to the sink when the attendant was on top of me with soap and paper towels. Way too pushy, and definitely not necessary for a small concert hall. Just another way to get extra $.
Only good thing is that the speakers were weak enough that I didn't have to wear ear plugs.
If you don't know. Everyone is invited, but its bot for everyone.
Great, Basic space for having a fun time... don't go for the glitz or glamour! Sodas and water are only $3 (as of this writing!!!) Coat check, in the winter time, can be a hassle...
this was the worst venue I have ever been to. Unfriendly staff (especially the manager) Id checks were not announced until we got to the venue and many were turned away because of this. To sum this up it was just overall a very unpleasant disappointing experience.
Not for me. People were having fun. But the music was way too loud (the bass) and the crowd was way to young and lame.
General rule of thumb: If you have to pay an entry fee AND get frisked by a bouncer before entry to a nightclub, you're probably in store for a rough night.
Santos is a great place to party. The air condition is always working and the speakers sound great. The VIP placements are also pretty awesome as well.
Two floors of fun and dancing. I've been here for a launch party and for a house music party, both were fantastic times. It is kind of funky, so you will need to shower afterwards.
It's spacious enough to walk around and not get clocked in the face. The DJ's have been great when I've gone. The drinks are about average for a club, around eight bucks for a beer.
The sound system is awesome. You can feel the music without losing your eardrums.
Mandatory coat check.
I've only ever been to shows in the basement of Santos, but they're really cheap and really intimate shows. It's very small, but that's the best part about it.
Really nice venue, big but still the right amount of intimate. Staff is really friendly, too. Was here for Green Jello, and everything was pretty much epic.
Narrow space. It can get hard to navigate in and out the door when it gets clumped up.
Great spot to have a good night with some friends. Music was awesome and the light show was incredible. Drinks can be very pricey though.
The worest club ever in NYC. New year bash was very bad. Small place and Worest staff and unfriendly manager ... Overall not worth going to this club at all in NYC.
Came for a LookBook NU event here
Was very impressed with the event People but the location is great
A New York club that ISN'T a meatpacking kind of place. It's got a cheesiness that makes it work. Think of all the components of a middle school dance + adult libations. Cash only for coat check and ticket, but cards accepted at the bar.
This is a dirty, sweaty, punk environment - just as it should be. The drinks are actually strong for the price, and the bartenders are awesome. Great sound!
Great looking venue with large space! They want $7 for a PBR, which is a lousy beer, and the bouncing staff was generally rude!
Bartenders go out of order. Vodka $14 and whiskey $20. Out of touch
$20 cover charge after a very long line. Instead, we went to a loft party with open bar, bbq, and dj.
I like to come here to dance because the dj is usually great in the basement. and there is always someone else who has the dance bug, too.
Andrew WK's spot has cemented itself as an iconic New York venue. It's a little gritty, the signage is witty, and the drinks are cheap.
Pros: Live music and lounge are on two separate floors so you can take a break from dancing to chat, great bands are booked here, cheap drinks, never gets too crowded.
Cons: The crowd is inconsistent and always depends on the type of people the band brings in..on the wrong night you could be surrounded by some shady wannabe musicians and their crew.
Awesome venue. Small and intimate, and great vibe. I saw Ellie Goulding here a few months ago and was really pleasantly surprised.
Drinks are reasonably priced, and you can even get tacos at the bar while you're waiting.
If you're looking for a small, intimate venue to see a show, I'd recommend!
i saw the orwells here with a group of my friends. it was one of the few teenage-friendly shows, most are 21 and up. but considering the band was only 17 themselves, they made an exception. the venue was small but i loved that the most,m it was an intimate setting. no fighting to get to the front because the crowd area was so small that everyone had a great view. i got to meet some of the band members and even chat with the singer of the so so glos. if an artist you like is performing here, please go! chances are so high that you will find them mingling amongst the crowd.
Went here to take part of a shoot for a commercial. Really nice spot, and it looks like the speakers bump. I've always seen lines for this place at night. They are always rotating artists and bands, so the crowd depends on the schedule.
The place is awesome , but the $4 coat check for each item you have is ridicules , especially after you paid $20 cover fee.
Party rockers in the HOUSE tongiht! party like it is 1999. love the music here. DJs are awesome. drinks are strong. i think i want to have my birthday party here. great spot ot let loose.
Came here recently for a hip hop night and had a great time. The event was in the basement (I believe there's a 1st floor venue that is different from what is in the basement, but I did not visit that part of the place) and it was a very roomy space. It's a bit sparse, as it's essentially a big room without furniture, but it gets the job done. Fair word of advice though, you're probably going to lose phone service in the basement, so keep that in mind if trying to meet up with friends.
I only went once. Jackets were not allowed inside. Extra $4 to leave jacket in designated area.
When I went I had a great time. Partially because one of my favorite bands was playing, The Venetia Fair. But also because the staff were awesome, the crowd was great, the space was clean, and the bartender had a heavy hand.
Basically, Santos is an awesome place to enjoy yourself if you like loud music, and an even louder crowd.
Also note that even though they have a coat check, they don't bother staffing it in the summers. So, don't bring a bag if you don't plan to hold on to it the whole time.
I've seen a couple events here and while I like how small it is, it is always disorganized and you always wait on line to get in past when the doors are supposed to be open. This is a better venue to see bands when people aren't concerned about being in the very front of the stage too.
Went here for the first time over the Xmas period, and wow, I had a fab time. The Sound system is great. There is a huge mix of people here and the diversity makes it truly one of the best places to enjoy a night out in.
$22 for two vodka sodas, plus $4.66 for automatic gratuity got me two plastic cups filled with ice and soda water, drizzled with vodka.
Never again.
Went here for the monthly Brut party. Lots of fun dancing. Drinks were expensive and ok quality.
