Highly recommend going here and I suggest you go with one of the numerous tour guides that are outside the gates claiming they can get you in avoiding the line. My friend and I were sceptical at first (not wanting to be scammed) but the person who got us in was the best tour guide I ve ever had and was able to get us through avoiding the line.

A beautiful place to visit but restoring inside so it was little bit disappointing. It was much quieter last time I was visiting. Get there early in the moring, 9 AM at least, to avoid a long queue. Same with the palace. There are so many people squeeze in this you have to wait lot longer, at least more than an hour to get in. So irritating to see all those chicky people, mainly Moslem people. Am not trying to discriminate them but telling the truth.

Hagia Sophia, one of the Wonders of the World... I had some high expectations going in. So I bought the ticket for 40 lira, joined the crowds entering and was a tad disappointed. It s a beautiful building with so much history behind it... it s absolutely worths seeing, bo doubt about it... it just might not be one of the Wonders of the World today.

In one word Hagia Sophia in itself is a very rich history book. It use to be a church and then once Muslim leaders started ruling Turkey it was converted into Mosque.
It was church for approximately 500 years and then Mosque for another approx 500 years.
This place is so beautiful and I couldn t stop mesmerising ever since i visited this beautiful and peaceful place.
The mosaic art of Jesus is so beautiful that i couldn t take my eyes of it and so are Muslim calligraphy. The colors, the art and the chandeliers, everything is so beautiful.
I loved visiting Hagia Sophia and I would say its a must do!

A total must see. The place was still under renovations though. So missed out on seeing a few things. Don't miss this when you stop off at Istanbul. It took us about 3 hours to complete what was there (we walk around slowly)

The Hagia Sophia is a beautiful historical building which is not to be missed during a tour of Istanbul! It is currently being restored and I am sure that when the whole dome is visible it must be awe-inspiring. I found that there was less information available than in other attractions like Topkapi, so I think it would be worthwhile to get an audio guide our tour guide. We bought the museum pass that allowed us to see Topkapi, Hagia Sophia and several other museums. It was well worth the cost when we could skip the queues at each place. Definitely invest in one, especially if you are visiting in summer for a few days.

So much history and charm in one place! Kemal was right to make it a museum and that still is. Real monument to power of religion as a tool of the rulers. All in all a must see!

Better to go earlier in the day to avoid long queues.

Huge and magnificent. Sadly the frescoes are in quite poor condition due to damage. There was a construction inside, for the reconstruction was going on, but it is apparently happening quite slowly since my cousin was there 2 years ago and the construction site was at almost the same spot.
