Stay out of this city! They have a cop working there who has been successfully sued twice and still has not been fired. The chief is using tax payer money to cover up corruption within his department

Police should be given our support from the elementary level and need us to see them as friendly. The old officer friendly lesson.Always ask the police for their best public service when dealing with them.Remember it's for the kids.Kids need police protection, adults owe it to them to show that we are appreciative of them especially if they answer to the call .If a police officer is not friendly to you you should respectfully avoid bothering them , stay away if they are on a case your not involved in.

These guys are crooks in uniform. I m a victim of this department, they clearly violated all my civil rights and my US constitutional rights by stopping me for no probable cause and ended up abusing their authority. They also planted illegal things I don t even know and was charged with a DUI took away my car and also lied that I had a gun.

This department is a corrupt mafia.

JUST HORRIBLE: I went in the station to file a complaint about one of the parking attendants (munez) that followed me around at 4:50 AM in my car while I was trying to drop my girlfriend off at work and the officer laughs like its funny I really dont understand what's funny he followed me around for 10 minutes knowing I couldn't park anywhere and threatening to ticket me because there no parking (or waiting) at meters before 5am I know filing a report wont do anything but I wanted to report it so if it's a common occurence of his it will be delt with but I can see that nothing will be done here I really hate this city's police department

Our car was broken into in a parking garage and the police did absolutely nothing to help. Acted like this thing happens so much that they don't even care anymore. Was supposed to receive a call from a "detective" after the robbery. Never happened. Joke of a police department.

The Santa Monica police dept behavior/attitude towards the family wasn't appropriate either. Treating the clerk like a victim...like she was accosted by the family or something. They didn't touch her! The clerk was the one stalking the family down 3rd street. Officers had the nerve to say the big, black scary man was "intimidating" the clerk. Meanwhile the female officer rolled her eyes at the family. The officers never reprimanded the clerk for chasing people 2 blocks down the street (violation of store policy and customer/civil rights). Seems officers expected the family to be thieves and conducted the interaction with them accordingly. Shameful!

I called to ask for info about the legality of carrying pocket knives and was very kindly helped and given thorough information by the officer on desk, unlike the LAPD desk officer who rudely told me "I don't know" before hanging up on me.

Good job tonight. Very respectful officers tonight. They handle a drunk person guy who has been very aggressive with such respect. Keep up the good job. That how you serve the community. Handle the situation very nicely. Big 10 on tonight's team. Having seen this type of treatment since the 90s every officer perfect 10. 8/4/2019 crue 02:00 AM big ups my resect.

Large mob outside my apartment smoking weed, yelling and playing loud music at midnight. Call. 30 minute response time. Cop drives through without stopping, somehow missing 10 people smoking weed and yelling 5 feet away from him.no follow-up with me at a. i call again and reissue the complaint. 20 minutes later the mob piles into some vehicles and leaves. Really nailed it. Still no cops. Gonna try to go back to bed now after wasting an hour of sleep.

So maybe 16 years ago I drove to Santa Monica to donate a bunch of stuff to a youth center off of Pico Blvd somewhere close to the 405/10. After unloading the last boxes, the local volunteers and I come back to my truck to see a parking ticket on it. With my tail gate was down, the meter maid couldn't read the tags and cited me for not having valid tags. As we tried to make sense of it, we found the maid only had to bend down to see the tags. Or they could have checked the tags when they ran the front plate. Then the locals started in on the horror stories. SMPD was evil, "People's Republic of Santa Monica", parking nazzis, at the worst. Lazy, long response times, bad attitudes at best. I don't think I was able to find a way to contest the ticket without paying it first. All this scared me to a point that I'll never go there and when driving to Malibu, I hold my breath driving down the 10 until I'm clear. Update: I learned that Santa Monica mandated ticket quotas (illegal in CA?) so meter maids are better off issuing bad tickets.

In recent months, due to my line of employment, I have had the opportunity to "run" into Peace Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department and I must say that each time my experience with them has been positive, even when one doing his sworn duty gave me a deserved J-walking ticket.

Each time, I found them to be courteous, respectful and communicative. In fact, we had some great discussion my about my activism with in homelessness and racial civil rights, etc.

As all law enforcement entities, peace officers have a very difficult and sensitive job, which most civilian citizens, including myself don't have patience, discipline, courage, etc. refuse to do, yet we are very quick to criticize them. "Damned if they do and damned if they don't"

Of course, being human beings and not machines, there are a few who don't or won't live up to their oath of office and thereby cause disparagement to come upon the whole departments.

Therefore, whenever I see or come into contact with all law enforcement offices and other First Responders, including military personnel, they receive from word of encouragement, thanks and appreciations such as, "Thank you for your service officer."

In order to help maintain a good attitude between enforcers of the law that we may live in safety, order and peace, I admonish every civilian citizens to greet them as I and many others do, with "Thank you for your service"...even if I am receiving a ticket, etc.

Thank you officers.

Santa monica police is just parking enforcement with guns, they disturb the peace more than anyone in santa monica... and sadly enough we pay them to harrass us, in larger numbers by the year, with higher quotas. Its very sad to see our justice system turned into a classless profit system.... thats the real issue.

Terrible parking division. They're liars looking to make money for the city with false tickets. I paid for my parking and displayed it on my dash but still received a parking ticket. I called in when it happened and told them I would send in the parking permit and they said they'd handle it. 3 months down the road the DMV is telling me I can't renew my registration and I call the parking police and they say they never recieved the permit in the mail and that it's too late to do anything because it's in collections. Horrible police for such a good city. Dont Go To Santa Monica

I was walking down Third Street Promenade when I noticed a police officer detaining a teenage boy who was sitting down with his skateboard. I walked another 25 feet and turned around to see what the police officer was going to do with the boy. When the officer noticed me standing there watching he leaned toward me, lowered his dark sunglasses and glared at me. So I turned around and kept walking. There is no point in getting into an argument with someone like that when you can write about it here out of reach.

I called them at 6, they never showed up. I called them bc of construction started at 5:45 am. When I called back at 7, she says I need to prioritize the calls. To which I reply that I just went to Starbucks and two cops are just sitting there. I just don t understand because I also live in New York City and they are always responsive. Then a homeless guy was getting extremely violent and came up to me and threatened to kill me and my dogs. He then sat in front of my home and was throwing things at every single person I want bye. He then turned around and then try to hop my deck and threw something at me. I told them that he was extremely violent he was going to hurt somebody . This time I called 911. Guess what? It s an hour later. I told the woman on the phone that I just don t understand how they just never show up. There What does one time my husband caught somebody robbing us red-handed and chased him down to Santa Monica Blvd. which is like eight blocks from where we lived and held him. I called the cops and I told them to be quick because this guy targeted our building several times. My husband had to hold him so long that this guy s friends circled around Santa Monica and found him and basically threw my husband off of him and he hopped in the truck. He got away and then the cop showed up.

A few years ago they increased our property taxes by like 800% and there s like no justification for it. We are not even getting our roads fixed in a residential areas. We can t even get the cops to show up for our beautiful homes were getting robbed. When I witness a violent homeless person throwing something at an old lady and she s running, how can the cops say that they re doing a good job? The mayor of the city has done nothing but a lot of crime rate to go up. If you look at his Twitter he s like let s take a bike ride and go green green!!!! Like, why don t you tweet let s get together and fight this crime that has risen up 9% in the last year. One time they refuse to take an accident report that my insurance is requiring after our car was totaled by a commercial moving van. When I reported this to the supervisor he denied that his employee did that. He told me as a woman, that I should listen to authority. He s a joke and theyre a joke

The parking officer and street sweeper saw me a block away, walking towards my car from St. Johns Hospital. They didn't know for sure that I was the driver, but assumed it might be, and held off writing a ticket to give me a moment to get there and leave. They didn't have to do it, and it was very kind of them to do so. I was surprised and appreciative of their thoughtfulness. I have even more respect for the Department than I had before. Thank you.

I approached them for help on a Sunday night when I was being harrassed by a drunkard and two drunk cops with alcohol breath were there. They were so drunk they couldn't understand my complaint. I had to return on Monday morning to file a report against them and the female bicycle cop who patrolled Third Street Promenade.

I parked outside the smc campus. I thought the spot I parked have a mic so I just left. And when I come back i saw the officer lee and the tow truck they were trying to tow my car away. I told the office I was about to leave. I m sorry I didn t see the sign. And I ll pay the fine. I also did not bring my wallet so I tell him I need to call someone to come over to pay the tow truck fee. And officer lee just keep telling the guy to tow my truck don t listen to me. I don t know this is how white policemen treat a Asian man or not. I talk very nicely. But still got treated badly. I don t feel safe living in this kind of neighborhood, when police officer treat me like this. I felt racial profiling.

called to ask what the policy is for skateboarders skating on sidewalks because they keep running me off the sidewalks and they don't have a policy or concern about it. don't seem to care that people continuously get harassed by skateboarders who race by and knock people over.

My experience was short to the point and generally as pleasant as possible. I was released with a simple warning. But I am sure it helped having all if my documents current and readily available and on my dashboard not buried in my glove compartment because, I know Police just love it when you dig through your glove compartment trying to find your paperwork. Storing it on your dash keeps you and them safe. THANK YOU SANTA MONICA.

Oh you got me good, but thank you for the learning experience and I believe you guys are good police officers your I love your city. I sapport of my statement they treat people with respect and curtacy no matter what lifestyle, I witnessed them treat the homeless with extreme dignity and that determines quality of person, a human in a uniform who judges not a person based on success, achievement and or riches but simply implies to serve in righteous fashion is a respectable officer of the law. That is what these guys are I'm sure they're just tired of their kindness being taken advantage of.

Crazy situation at intersection of Ocean Ave and Pier Way. There are signs No U turn and No Turn Left on to the pier from Ocean Ave, but a lot of cars still making left turn on to the pier and U turn right in front of the Santa Monica Police cars and right under the view of traffic cameras blocking the traffic in the middle lanes. When I stopped near by the Santa Monica Police Car and explained the situation their response was: You see we are stuck in traffic here! What we can do? Have a nice day! So literally they let me know they don t care and just got rid of me. It was rude. I texted Santa Monica Police Department on Facebook and there was no any reaction. Bad service, very bad service Santa Monica Police.

This morning at Peet's Montana and 14th a homeless man got into a shouting confrontation with a maintenance man for the location. Apparently the worker had thrown out the homeless man's "stuff". After 20 minutes of yelling at the beleaguered maintenance guy a lone officer arrived. He quieted the homeless man after 10 more agitated minutes. After a backup and needed officer arrived. The two officers settled the agitated homeless man down got him his stuff and saw him off the premises. The handling of the situation was professional and done with skill and certainty. Had the officers been confrontational I have no doubt violence would have resulted. A definite well done.

I got a ticket and the information on it is illegible so I called up and tried to ask how much is the ticket. I got no answers, I got transfered to numbers that no one answered. Any moron should be able to take the number off the ticket and tell you how much it costs and where you take it.
I got no help what so ever and that is pathetic.
