Long standing coffee shop. Always visit when in SB. Great place to stop in the morning even if your driving through downtown as it's right off the freeway.
Best bet for freshly roasted coffee. Convenient and not too pricey.

Drinks are ok and staff is distracted by each other. Had to wait to place my order since they were talking amongst each other. Didn't notice people waiting. This has happened multiple times

So friendly and great coffee!

So friendly and great coffee!

Haven't seen a place like this with so many decaf varieties. They let us try out different types before placing our order. Only one decaf available to try, but we tried some caffeinated types to get an idea.

Stopped here for some drinks and bakery items. Great atmosphere, there's a large patio area out back with games and ping pong. My husband ordered a samosa and he really liked it. Great local cafe.

I'm not usually one to give bad reviews online, but I was straight up lied to by SBRC. I paid $11 for the 16 oz iced mocha mason jar with a flavor shot. I especially wanted the mason jar, because I was biking home and a disposable cup, in addition to not being eco-friendly, would spill everywhere on the ride. When I picked up my order, it was half ice and it was in a disposable plastic cup. I tried asking about it and challenging the ridiculous price to get something that I had not ordered, but I was informed that the $11 was not about the jar, but the 4 shots of espresso. This is simply not true. A normal 16 oz iced latte with 4 shots of espresso is only $6.35 at SBRC. That is exactly what I received, except with a $5 surcharge.

I understand that restaurants sometimes run out of things and that can't be helped, so normally I don't make a fuss. But the appropriate response to that is informing the customer so that they can order something else, or offering something of equal value. It is not giving the customer something they didn't order and overcharging for it, and then lying to the customer about it.

And yes, it did leak all over my backpack on the ride home, making it an even worse value proposition. I will be taking my business to Dune or one of the other great coffee options in SB from now on.

Good, comfortable space with friendly staff and customers. I got the dark roast house coffee. Not bad. Not amazing. But good ambiance in a good location. Free parking in the lot for the first 75 minutes.

Excellent place and coffee! It is a very nice place, with super cheap prices compared to the rest of the coffee. I recommend going to connect to their fast internet or read a book taking a good coffee. Perfect place!

The coffee here is simply fantastic. Unlike the chain coffee shop, which feels a lot of water, the cup of American coffee, the coffee here is more European-style coffee, with a strong fragrance and creamy taste, I like it very much. It is also possible to see the process of on-site frying of coffee beans, which has been heated by coffee. A cup of coffee and a newspaper can be left here for a morning.

Bad coffee, horrible customer service!

Bad coffee, horrible customer service!
My daughter and I were having a mediocre cup of coffee at this little shop by the freeway in Santa Barbara! Everything seemed ok until she ran over practically in tears. She indicated that some horrific service person with a hairlip stood between her and the bathroom door stating, "the bathroom is not for homeless people!" She was wearing a backpack. I really don't know what I am going to do about this yet! My friend Henry says the manager or owner is named Corey and that he is a homosexual. Not that I have anything against them, mind you! Apparently he does not like heterosexual people or homeless people.
I strongly recommend you avoid this place if you are a true American!

Great coffee shop, with free refills of several different types of roasts. Coffee was always fresh, and the service fast. Fine but not giant selection of pastries and bagels, but everything was good quality and well priced

Had a decaf americano and it was just meh. Not the rich cup of coffee I was expecting, weak, bland really did not taste like they d just made it. Not great for a coffee place. The staff could be a bit more friendly, crack a smile maybe. I declined my receipt and needed to use the restroom. There s a note on the door that tells you that the code to open the door is on the receipt. There was a member of staff close by so I asked her for the code. She told me it was on the receipt. I told her that I d declined a receipt so she told me to go back to the counter where there was a line and get a receipt. Really! Come on, be a little helpful to your customers.

This is my favorite coffee shop in town. A great family owned business that is all about customer service. I get great work done here, always meet nice people and am starting to set up some meetings here as well.

The coffee is fantastic and they now have some tasty and healthy food from Silvergreens as well. I definitely recommend stopping here for coffee!

Great place to grab a cup of coffee. They have a great selection, and lots of extras. Friendly environment, and great service. Great prices, and you get free refills. Thanks guys for the break from the boring, typical "cafe". I will definitely be recommending this location to as many people as possible.

I have been coming to roco for 20 years. After having the police called on me for standing outside and enjoying the sun this will no longer be the case. I feel that the staff of roco should speak to me personally before taking the drastic step of calling the police and wasting there valuable time.

Pros:

Pros:

Has a protest zone / outdoor sit-down area where you can eat. That s the best part about this place.

Cons:

Coffee is consistently burnt / not tasty. Service is typical California cool (painfully slow and they don t care at all)

I enjoyed the quietness, the cleanliness, and the lovely staff. I would be more than happy to stay here again in the near future. The parking area was also very organized and very easy to come and go. I will surely be recommending you to all! Thank you so much for your kindness, guys!

My friends and I visited this coffee shop, just near the mall last month. It s actually our first time here. We ordered our coffee and minutes later, we got our coffee. Their services were fast! They had these amazing coffee beans that make the coffee more tasty and relaxing. After that day, we daily visit this coffee shop and have our morning coffee before going to work. We are so glad that this coffee shop is near our workplace!

A local coffee house that has become an institution in Santa Barbara, serving up delicious hot and cold beverages from their own house-roasted beans. Ample seating both inside and out in a shabby-chic industrial space. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Almost a dozen coffees to choose from. Opened very early, nearby Amtrak station. Baristas were nice and attentive, and there are restrooms. Indoor seating about 6-10 people. There are also pastries and some hot food items. I'll return again next time I use Amtrak to Santa Barbara.

Lots of seating. Great place to do some reading and get a strong iced coffee. The Hong Kong waffle was okay. Haven't tried any other food, but will have to next time. Parking in the back lot is sparse, so save yourself that hassle and park on the street. Easy enough to find a spot.

Always pleasant to stop by here. There tends to be a selection of one or two new drinks every time I come by. The matcha latte is alright, a little grainy but flavor was not too diluted by milk or ice. Also not very sweet which is nice, gives the option to add one's own preferred level of sweetness or leave it as is.

There is a beautiful coffee roaster in the back that is fascinating to watch and smells DELICIOUS. Always well-staffed so you always have someone behind the counter to help if you need something. Large selection of coffees, great for gifts. Gives lots of variety to fit your coffee gift to whomever you are gifting to. I enjoy grabbing a coffee here with chocolates from two stores down at Maya Chocolate. Great location not too far from the beach with plenty of parking options there and along nearby streets. There is also a single restroom in the back for patrons.

Also if you want to purchase coffee bags (the big burlap ones), they are $2 each! Very sturdy and can have cool prints, sheds very easily though but great for growing potatoes or DIY decorating. We went to the coffee storage to the left of the main cafe and talked to one of the employees working back there to get them.

Personally love this place. Definitely has a local, small town feel, great staff, and they make a great cup of coffee too! Haven't tried everything they offer since I tend to get practically the same thing, but my drink hits the spot every time! Btw music selection changes a lot depending on the day, but never anything offputting.

If you went to the French Press and asked for an iced cappuccino, they'd laugh at you and say no. But at ROCO, they'd do it for you, and they'd damn well do it with a smile. BTW, get an iced cappuccino, its actually fantastic.

Great tasting coffee but could have had a little better presentation. Would have liked it to be served in a mug since we were dining in and not taking to go. Good place for a quick coffee and change of pace from Starbucks.
