San Miguel Rentables posted our rental property with beautiful pictures and descriptions on a Friday and we had a signed two year lease on the following Monday!!! I m a retired American living in Mexico. After a year in Acapulco, I decided to exchange resort style living for a more cosmopolitan setting. I heard many good things about San Miguel de Allende. I googled rentals for San Miguel, and came upon San Miguel Rentables. The website was very well furnished, with detailed information, numerous photos and maps.
I called and left a message with was promptly returned by Joan Novell. I had planned an impromptu visit for the next day. Although this was short notice, and the next day was New Year's Eve, Joan scheduled visits to properties that day and the next, also a holiday.
She was very gracious and helpful about living in San Miguel. This is important to me, since I know no one in San Miguel (or in Mexico for that matter). I liked San Miguel and decided to rent one of the apartments for six months.
When I returned to Acapulco, Joan had the owner of SMR, Troy Piccione, contact me with details about filling out an application, procuring a lease and making a deposit. Navigating the computer is not my forte (computers did not exist when I was younger - I used a typewriter in college). After numerous e-mails, texts and phone calls with Troy, he patiently led me through the process.
Back in the United States I have in the passed leased and purchased properties and businesses, but there are not many times that I recall being treated so competently and professionally. I have not yet moved into my rental in San Miguel, but what impresses me is the treatment and guidance I received for just a six month rental. Kudos to SMR!
I ve rented multiple times through San Miguel Rentables and have always been impressed with the service. The places like Casa Cielita and others were exactly as described. I appreciate knowing when I go to San Miguel I can rent through this company.
Dishonest and disgraceful company. Showed me a property where they were strangely willing to reduce the rent by US$400 per month. There were lots of locks everywhere and they wanted to install an alarm and wanted a non-refundable deposit because "people keep on moving out". We spoke to the neighbour and it turned out the other neighbour is a major criminal. He has broken into all the surrounding houses repeatedly, jumped over the roof to steal computers and TVs and used an electric saw to cut through iron bars. They knew this and DID NOT TELL US. Do not trust these awful people.
In their reply the company is being dishonest yet again. I had expressed an interest in renting the property and was about to pay a non-refundable deposit to them on the same day but they STILL did not tell me about the dangerous criminal living next door. Absolutely disgraceful.
They were asking for non-refundable cash upfront, knowing that they were putting us in danger, living next to a criminal
Also, they state in their reply below that they have removed the advert for this property from their website. Again this is a lie. I just checked and right now Casa Garza is still there.
They also claim that this was beyond their control. Again, a lie. It was within their control to be honest but chose to be dishonest.
Earlier on the same day they showed us a property, allowed us to go through their detailed vetting process (including three references, bank statements and copies of passports) and then said: "Oh, I should have told you that the owner has already decided to let someone else rent it."
I noticed that since placing this negative review, several suspiciously positive reviews have miraculously appeared straight away from people who have never reviewed anything before. Perhaps fake reviews. Please avoid this company, they're irresponsible and dishonest.
Had to pay $1500 to get out of a lease where property was noisiest property in San Miguel. Do not rent or buy in Casa Primivera unless you want to be up all night. The place we rented had a used look with bare light bulbs and a useless roof terrace because of lack of furniture and lack of shade. Sheets from a flea market, one set only for each bed. What a horrible mistake on our part! It is two o clock in the morning and still the noise goes on. We move out of this hell hole in a few days , it can t be soon enough. They rent week ends to party kids who scream and holler and drink til they drop. It is totally ridiculous.
Easy to communicate with and a quick and painless process to move in. I provided a very detailed description of what I was looking for and Joan had exactly what I needed. Great pricing for a such a fantastic city, quiet neighborhood, and fully furnished apartment. As a voice actor and author, noise levels are critical to me. I have yet to hear neighbors playing loud music or letting their dogs bark for hours on end. The apartment came fully furnished, all the way down to pots, pans, silverware, towels, blankets, and bed sheets, along with an ironing table, iron, and clothes hangers. Daniel, the landlord, also paid attention to the details in the interior design of the property. Several studies have been conducted to measure the impact that one's surroundings have on the human organism. Being cared for in a beautiful hospital, for example, (as opposed to a medical center that's in ruins) provably reduces the amount of pain medication a person feels they need to take, and reduces their recovery time. The beauty of the apartment, without a doubt, will certainly improve upon my overall psychological well-being. As a traveling man, I have been to almost every major city in the United States, and plenty of small towns. San Miguel de Allende is the most beautiful little city I have yet to visit. Moreover, nothing beats healthy, organic Mexican food, and the warm and friendly attitudes of the Mexican people. If you're looking for a beautiful apartment in a beautiful city contact San Miguel Rentables. I really shouldn't have waited to this long to move here. :)
