This is a terrific set of gardens with thousands of species of plants from around the world We arrived just at the time the 1:30 tour was starting and we had an exceptional visit. We learned fascinating things about the plants and also about the history of the botanical gardens. Truly exceptional.

If you like all things horticultural then you will love it here. There are guided works if you need a bit of direction or just spend your time wandering aimlessly enjoying the variety of plants. flowers, trees, and shrubs.

One of my favorite parts of the park! Never too crowded, nice areas of grass and benches to read or picnic. Free admission for SF residents (they check ID or ask for zip codes). I love the annual flower pianos-- 12 pianos places around the park for formal performances and also for the public to play. I do wish they were open a bit later in the summertime. They close at 5 which is a bummer (at least until 6/7 would be nice on weekends). The magnolia blooms are also beautiful to check out in the spring.

The entrance is close to 9th/Irving making it a great place for a post-meal stroll.

Beautiful, interesting, always changing. I live nearby and go often for the walks, peace, lovely flowers. Go during flower piano time! It's definitely worth becoming a member (I did!), but the free mornings and other times are thoughtful and kind.

Golden Gate Park is a work in progress. Everytime you go there is something new to observe, either because of the season, or because Park employees and volunteers are constantly working to improve the landscape. If you like blooming trees, now(spring) is the time to go. They are beautiful. I enjoy watching the buffalo, and seeing the windmills too.

55 acres of beautiful vegetation for only $8 or free for San Francisco residents. It is a great get away and I can't wait to go back in spring to see even more blooms. There was such a variety of gorgeous exotic and local plants. They sell plants as well so you can take some of nature home with you!

I love these beautiful gardens. They are worth the time and effort. It was a very cal.ing and delightful place to be.

I cannot wait until I get a chance to return. If you are visiting San Francisco come and see this wonderful oasis in the City by the Bay.

If you live in San Francisco and you haven't visited these wonderful gardens, take some time from your busy schedule and look at these gardens. Worth your time and efforts.

The only botanical that can grow subtropical plants outside and has over 10 thousand plants and dozens of Mediterranean gardens to see! Free before 9am, $8 after for non SF residents. Taking a docent led walk is a must!

A great place for taking in natural beauty and taking a nap. Don t forget to go to the historical walk and take the time to read the educational placards. They say they have docent tours at 1:30 but don t count on it.

It s a beautiful place. Don t forget to go to the bamboo garden and be careful for the bee hive in the iconic tree at the entry way!

Oh yeah pause at the low lying rock garden to the left of the entrance. It s a super cool story.

My girlfriend and I spend all day in just one small section of this park. It is a behemoth of land. We enjoyed everything we got to see and spent a great amount of time getting lost together. We loved and will be back.

I've lived in San Francisco 38 yrs and never been inside til a month ago for piano week! It's beautiful inside and a must visit, esp for San Francisco residents because it's free entrance for us. At the entrance show them your photo ID with San Francisco address and your entrance fee is waived. It's also a good place for a picnic on a nice sunny day.

Didn t realize that I could be staying in a botanical garden for 2 hours and not feeling bored at all and want to come back again. Yes! This is definitely recommended from my heart. It made me feel so good to wandering around among the greens and flowers. It brings peace and joy to my mind. This park is inside the golden gate park and the parking facility is located near the park entrance, which is really convenience. You can also park along the street if you can find any street parking spot, well not likely but could try that since this is such a popular place. There is a small fee for entrance but if you live in sf, that can be waived. Well several dollars for such an amazing trip definitely worth it.
