Amazing beautiful zoo! Incredibly laid our amazing wildlife aswell as the animals kept in the zoo. The enclosures are beautiful and spacious. I have been to many many zoos in many countries... this one really tops them all so far!

It's huge! Lots and lots of different animals. Great place to spend the day. Food is pretty good and the refillable souvenir cups are a great deal. The place is very clean as well. The only negative thing is that theres just so many people there visiting.
I usually don't condone the whole concept of a zoo, but San Diego zoo is different. Animals are well taken care of and have plenty of space. The whole park is a wonderful experience. It is worth visiting.
San Diego zoo is amazing. Expect to walk a lot so bring comfortable shoes. Animals were great. Kids were a little disappointed there were no giant panda or rhinos. You may want to bring your own snacks since prices for everything is on par with theme parks. On the bright side though, money made from vendors do go to zoo.
Amazing location to see beautiful animals from around the world. They do a great job with enriched environments and education for the public. Various tour, bus, and sky tram options keep crowds moving so it doesn't feel too busy and there are lots of cafes and sitting spots for family lunches, snack, or breaks. Highly recommend the collectable pressed coins for a set of souvenirs.
Loved the san Diego zoo...clean and the staff was very friendly. A wide variety of animals. Make sure you at least get to be in the park for 5 hours or more to view all inclosements. Family fun for everyone.
Great Zoo! Expensive but very nice with lots of options. Encourage starting with the bus tour so that you can figure out where everything is. If you take the bus tour sit on the bottom section as you will be in the shade. The app is very helpful as well.
No 4d theater, no safari sky tram, no pandas, no children's area open but still charged full price. This should be disclosed on the website so customers can make an informed decision as to visit or not. We were disappointed.
It's not called the world's greatest zoo for nothing. I highly recommend taking the bus tour so you can see the entire park. After you take the bus tour you can hop on and off the bus for the entire rest of the day at no charge. It's a great value.
Love love love this Zoo, beautiful enclosures, world class botanical garden, many areas to sit and relax. Bring comfy broken in walking shoes or get the bus kangaroo pass. Be prepared to spend the day so such to see you actually may need two days if you want to see it right.
We took my girl friend son to the zoo and he loved it!! We had a great time and I recommend coming early as possible as when it started to get to hot we went home, while everyone seemed like they just got there.
Great experience, had not been to the Zoo in many years. Lots of shade, great transportation available inside. Bought two icee beverages, they gladly refilled them at every stand with ice cold water for free.
Well laid out. Great things to do. Fantastic assortment of animals to view. We loved it. A huge site - lots of walking. Take your own food and drink, expensive inside.
Fantastic facilities with a clear vision: global conservation and preservation of species. Clean bathrooms and grounds. Take the bus tour and get margaritas!
Absolutely Vast and Expansive! Help was everywhere when you needed a question. They also help with great tips. So ask. Lots of elevation
There s a Kangaroo bus you can hop on and off. 4 different stops and one stop in about 15 mins from the entrance. This was a total bonus when kids were getting tired.
Amazing and huge! Be prepared to spend the day. Plan what animals you want to see, and get there early (Panda lineup got long after lunch, but we walked right in at 10am)
Great place to send the day with the kids!! A wide variety of animals to see, from elephants to zebras to flamingos. The park is beautiful and sprawling so bring your walking shoes. We loved the sky trolley rides that take you from one end of the park to another and provide an amazing viewof the whole park from above. Lines can get long but everything moves quickly. A must-go when you are on vacation in San Diego!
This is a very amazing zoo, bigger than the zoo in Seattle that I used to go to when I was younger. The San Diego Zoo has many animals and creatures that you can say 'hi' to. They also have a lot of Tourist attractions and little shops that you can go into. They have a Skyfari, which is basically an overlook of the zoo (if you're not afraid of heights that is), it is rather high but fun. I will note that they do not have African Wild dogs or Hyenas as it said on their site, that is really the only comment about that, but other than that, a really great experience.
There are portions of the zoo that need remapping in order to see everything without back tracking. I really enjoyed the aviaries because you get up close & personal with some incredible birds. The staff are all knowledgeable and helpful, plus they prioritize conservation. I would definitely go again when I m back in San Diego!
I've been coming here since I was a little kid and it never ceases to amaze me how wonderful this park is. Now I'm able to take my daughter and pass on the joy it brought me back then to see so many animals in such a wonderful environment. They have everything here and in such great surroundings! My daughter hates birds but she still wanted to go into the Aviary and see them. We loved our time here and the staff was very helpful along the way. Keep up the great work!
Bought year membership for myself , hubby and 3 kids. I had not been here for years. It was really great to see the changes. I look forward to many fun trips this year !!
Still the greatest zoo in America, by far! Awesome volunteers, and employees as well, we got tons of info for my daughter's 2nd grade report on the Lowland Mountain Gorilla
Love this zoo. The panda bears and new Africa exhibit are amazing. The way the zoo is set up lets you forget that you are going n the heart of San Diego.
My wife and I booked the Cheetah Experience. It turned out to be the highlight of our trip to San Diego. The trainers gave us information regarding their practices and care with these wild animals. Plus the experience also included a guided tour around the park. A special way to see the zoo.
Great Experience, Service members get in for free! Of course the food is always expensive but its goes to the animals it's a nonprofit zoo anyway! They add alot of new things every year!
Very large zoo that dwarfs many other regional zoos. These can be hit or miss though on what time of day you go since animals can be out of viewing areas so mute your expectations.
If you do happen to get to see a feeding time or when the animals are actives it's hard for me to see how you won't have a good time.
Get the year pass. Especially if you've got kids. There's no better place to take them on a random outing to burn off some steam. Lots to explore, fun activities, clean park. Well taken care of animals.
Really well organized zoo and a full day of fun with the kiddo. Buy some memorabilia if possible as they go towards the zoo. Lots of animals to see and interactions. If u r taking the tour bus try to sit on the right
Great experience both for amusement and awareness of the environment. Do the bus tour first to help plan your route when you walk around the zoo. Plan on walking a lot. A whole lot. Free refills for the Dasani water bottles, you're going to need it.
I love being here. It is a high price to get in, but it is worth it if you take advantage of all of the amenities that are provided for you free when you buy a ticket. This place also helps save endangered and abused animals. The shows that they put on are not like most where the animals listen in fear, but are rewarded for their actions. Overall, it's an amazing place to be.
The zoo is amazing! The exhibits are really well set out, there is so much information about the animals and conservation efforts of the zoo. There are lots of options for transport around the zoo like the hopper bus, guided bus tour and skyfari. There are lots of places to get drinks and food and sit down. It's not as big as I expected which is actually a good thing in terms of having achey feet at the end of the day. I would recommend going late afternoon early evening as the animals are more active then.
Ok so you are in San Diego and why would you not drop in to the worlds # 1 zoo? They do everything right! If you want to enjoy 3-4 hrs of fun and walking while doing it, then this is the place for you. Did I mention that parking is free? Well it is and there is penny of spots. If you finish early then right next door is Balboa park, with even more attractions. No need to move the car either. Food is what is to be expected for a theme park, you may leave and come back inside and we seen a lot of folks picnicking from their car or eating on the grass at Balboa park. It is another San Diego landmark that must be seen. Military is free!
Absolutely worth the admission. I was there for about 4.5 hours and I wish I had more time. The panda's were absolutely adorable as well as the rest of the animals. I recommend taking a ride on the tour bus to get yourself acclimated to the park. Then set off on your own adventure and explore what you like. I love zoo's and the San Diego zoo and their staff are just amazing at what they do. Have fun!!!
My boyfriend and I have been long time members so we usually decide on a whim to come and walk around the San Diego Zoo. Our trip today included lunch, and because we are members we got 20% off. We also purchased souvenir Jungle Bells cups for free coffee/hot chocolate/mocha drinks for the day. Perfect for this sunny, but 60 degree day!
I have to say that even if there were no animals here, it would still be well worth a visit. The botanical displays as well as the art installations are worth seeing in their own right. Of course the animal exhibits are second to none. And although we have no small children in our family, it seems like there are countless fun and interactive things for the little ones to do. If the idea of a nice, sit-down meal in the middle of your visit sounds good, I would recommend making a reservation at Albert's restaurant.
Beautiful place to spend the day. Take comfortable shoes a lot of walking up and down hills. Good work out! Yearly pass worth purchasing bucket of refill popcorn and or soda.
The Zoo is the most amazing place. We had so much fun. The new structures and encounters allow people to see the animals from all different spots. Ialways have so much fun with my family at the zoo.
Plenty of parking, I think because we came on a weekday. There were tons of different animals that look healthy and happy. The atmosphere was great but be prepared with comfortable shoes.
San Diego zoo is a great place for take your family, with over 3700 animals. Food is a little expensive but you can bring your own snacks and water. I enjoyed this zoo my favorite animal was the polar bear.
The San Diego Zoo is an exciting place for discovering and learning all about the amazing creatures from around the world. Great place to bring the little ones and let them be amazed by all there is to see.
This is an exquisite zoo. The variety of animals is great. They have an abundance of different kind of birds. It is very clean and the staff is excellent and polite. There is so much to do that a day pass isn't long enough to experience it all. If you're active duty military then you can get in for free. I ate at only one of the restaurants (image included) and the food is decently priced but the drinks are expensive, but it's expected for what it is.
This place is huge you see so many animals and learned so many things is great for the kids my husband loved this place definitely will come back maybe not soon Maybe when the kids are little bit bigger but it's an awesome place it's great to get there early because you will spend all day there go through a weekday because weekends do get really busy
