The zoo was so well kept. Now I can see why it was kind of pricey to get into the zoo. My fab was the leopards and lions. There was so much to see!! Totally recommend it.

Nice place to go, but I prefer the wild animal park, or safari park as it is now called.
Less to do here, though still a wonderful place to visit.
Best zoo in the world for a reason. Go late in day to get most activity from the animals...
Lot of animals well taken care of, lot of walking But worth it
Amazing place. Could not cover all the areas in detail in one day but had an excellent overview with the drive in the hop on hopoff bus. Enjoyed visiting the areas of specific interest like the pandas and Galapagos turtles. Facilities are spread all over and most welcome
So great! I took too many pics to share but here's some.
We have been visiting zoo since
2012. Amazing place , always had membership. Like the convenience of free parking. Renovations are amazing. We typically stay here for 2 hrs and visit many times. pick the time when the crowds are less.
One of the better zoo's for the most part well maintained and great place to learn and explore and learn about animals
I love this zoo. Its levels to this place. I mean actual levels
Our home away from home! Annual passes allow you to go at any time. Love this zoo!
Great for kids and adults, they have hus tours for people who can't really walk a lot and have kids with them. And you can walk around and see very interesting animals. The place is super clean and trees are everywhere
Marvelous, in this place live all kinds of animals. The park is huge and you have to take a day to see everything. Gorgeous
Amazing zoo! The staff is very helpful and so friendly. Lots of animals and beautiful grounds. You have options for getting around the park, too. You can take the double decker Kangaroo bus, which has several stops, or you can take the Skyfari aerial tram. There is also a double decker tour bus that takes you around the park, I think it was about a 30 minute ride. Very informative and I recommend doing it. The zoo also offers botanical gardens tours, animal encounters and a theater. Several places to eat, gift shops and lots of penny presses. Really great zoo to visit! Highly recommend!
I am well traveled. Dare I say that I've been to at least two other zoos in North America and beyond (Phoenix & Calgary)... and I can say with an unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality, that the San Diego Zoo is, bar none, the nicest zoo on the planet... and I'm not just kowtowing because I got to be an honorary tiger for the day.
Lots of walking, lots of elevation, yet they have two moving walkways which usher you up the hills. And the best part was sitting in any one of the multiple aviary enclosures... well, next to seeing how excited some of the wee toddlers would get. "DID YOU SEE THAT DADDY!!!"
Yes indeed daddy... did you see that... did you?
The biggest surprise of the day occurred while I watched a honey badger care about something for a good 15 minutes.
Great zoo, takes hours to get around but luckily there is an open top bus guided tour
It was an phenomenal experience. Great design, it's a solid day of walking with plenty of services along the way
As always the San Diego zoo is an amazing experience. We went on a Tuesday so not alot of people. However they were cleaning alot of exhibits or doing construction so we miss d stuff but that's not a reason to not go or review bomb it.
I love the San Diego zoo! I discovered my favorite band there! It's kind of expensive and gets quite crowded sometimes but I have fun every time I go. There is a lot of up hill and down hill and it's a decent sized zoo so your feet will be tired afterwards.
Wow! The zoo just keeps getting better and better, with new exhibits that are state-of-the-art in the zoo keeping world. Become a zoo member and you can get unlimited visits each year to the zoo and the safari park. My favorites are the giraffe, which you are able to feed for an extra fee. Take the bus tour that goes all around the zoo to get a great orientation, and determine what you will see when you walk around.
I love zoos! This was a 1st time visit here. The volunteers and guides were what made our experience here awesome
Best zoo in the world. Have a membership, love this place. If you re a native, get the membership. Pays for itself in two visits. If you re a tourist, this is one of the best things San Diego has to offer. The animals are really well cared for, and the quality of their habitats is pretty amazing. As you walk through the different habitats, the fauna and landscape changes to meet the region. Go see the Tasmanian devil at noon! They ve got a great show and the dudes funny
I haven't always been a huge fan of zoos, but San Diego was a welcomed surprise! Very clean, and the bus tours are fun and educational. Just be ready to do a lot of walking (although there are a lot of benches placed throughout the park)! Wear sunscreen and running shoes and bring lots of water and you'll be good to go!
Zoo is open during the Covid-19 time. Please enjoy the zoo. Make sure you wear a mask. It is required to go in. They also sell mask incase you don't have one.
The animals are very well looked after in large habitats. My only complaints are that it's difficult to navigate the zoo with the provided map and the concession stands are rather expensive
The zoo is always a good time. Great place to go walking and see beautiful animals and plants. If you live in San Diego, get a membership, it's totally worth it! I'm excited to see the new children's zoo area, to be completed in 2021.
Perfect size for a day trip...Not too big not too small. Kids love the aerial tram and the double decker kangaroo bus. Good selection of foods and drinks and plenty of washrooms. The app is super easy to use and navigate. Many animals to see. Be ready to line up for the Panda though. We had a great family time there.
First time there in a long time and it was as amazing as I remember. Lots of food options if you aren't carrying your own. I don't recall adult beverages from the last time we were there. There are beer and frozen drink choices now. Great place to spend the day. Probably could have used even 1 or 2 more days to see all they have to offer. Do wear comfortable walking shoes! And sunscreen is a good idea since many areas have limited shade.
Big zoo, lots of different exhibits and animals. A bit pricey on tickets and food and some merchandise inside. I was a little bummed on our most recent trip that quite a few of the animal exhibits were closed but overall it is a fun place to bring the kids and watch and learn about all the different animals and habitats. I like the extended hours during summer time so you can stay a little later and have more time exploring
LOVE San Diego Zoo! It's beautiful. A little pricey for a day trip but worth it. If you can do a pass it's definitely the way to go. Can easily spend two days there traveling through exhibits and taking time to enjoy everything from the animals to the scenery. Food is pricey so plan accordingly. They allow you to bring your own snacks which I suggest. If you're with older adults you should talk to visitors center about layout of park. Some paths can be challenging.
What can I say! It's the San Diego Zoo! I firmly believe this is one of the top 3 zoos in the world. Combined with the Wild Animal Park/Safari Park: this Zoo is top notch. You need at least a single day to enjoy it all
Would well recommend a visit to Sango zoo. The best zoo yet we have been to. Though the restaurant and food stalls were well stocked, if you spend all the day there has we did, take a packed lunch. You can leave the zoo to go back to car if need be. But overall can't stress enough how good the zoo is, They also have guided tours to.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in San Diego for any amount of time. Lots of animals that are active, as well as a very nicely kept grounds that remind me of Disneyland (Very clean!). Built on a bit of a hill there is a lot of up and down to be had here to bring shoes to walk in.
Beautiful animals and absolutely stunning zoo! Definitely worth the price and animals are taken care of extremely well.
It was a good experience for my family and I. If you don t like to walk, this is not the attraction for you. The staff was organized and efficient with reminding people about covering their faces and the line was long to get in, but it went pretty quickly.
This is one of the best zoos anywhere! The best in the US in my opinion. We went on a January weekday and the crowds were no problem; it s obviously best to do this location off peak season and avoid the weekends. Weather is perfect most of the year, especially in the winter. Despite my high expectations, I was still impressed.
My wife and I went on vacation to visit the San Diego Zoo. I knew where we were going and it was a surprise for my wife. We enjoyed the bus tour upon entering, and then enjoyed the walk to the different exhibits that we wanted to see more of.
Amazing zoo! Best zoo in America hands down. Not too crowded even for a Saturday and had a great time with kids and adults. Reccomend sitting on the upper deck on the right side at the front of the bus to see the most animals!
At night the denizens come out. So blurry this late in the day but the positive is you aren't sweating balls looking at animals sleep.
Very less animals in number even though there is a good variety if them. Didn't meet my expectations.
I absolutely love the San Diego zoo. It is a real treat to come here. They have a ride there, I think it's called the sky safari. But it takes you across the whole zoo. You get such an amazing view of everything from up there.
One of the biggest and best quality zoos that I have ever been to! Would love to visit again, because I never got to cover the whole place in one day!
So much fun and a ton of animals to see. It takes a full day to get around to everything, so plan accordingly.
The zoo landscape is beautiful, with lots of trees and beautiful plants surrounding the exhibits. Animals had enrichment activities and generally seemed content.
Wonderful lizard. Make sure you have good walking shoes on. Spend all day.
Talk about wow, when i mentioned it to my love he was like the Zoo, i said yes you will love it. He is 42 and had never been, we left after 7 hrs there and he was floored he couldnt stop talking about it.
We loved it, but I'm deducting a star because the panda is not there anymore. Also, thee should have more shuttles to take us to the exit when the park is closing. That would be very helpful when you are stuck in the opposite side of the exit.
My first visit to the zoo. I think the pathways in this zoo is pretty well organized. I would recommend hopping on to the guided tour bus fist to get a grasp of the layout of the zoo. I walked for about 4 hours and covered most of the zoo during this visit.
It's a great place for family walking and experiencing the nature with many differences animal to see. This place is crowded and you have to be an luck to see all the animals. If you are going around noon, then most animal take nap or hiding, so you won't see much.
All day fun every time. I had a year pass three years in a row and I still love going
It's always fun at the zoo. Also their beer is affordable.
If visiting, do not miss the Zoo!!! I've loved this place for as long as I can remember. Yes, expensive, but also world famous for a reason. Be sure to check out the newer Elephant exhibit, it looks like Jurassic Park, so so cool! Also definitely take the sky team. Amazing views. And the monkey walk, coming from someone who is not very interested in monkeys, is awesome. The entire Zoo is awesome! Peter in membership is fantastic. The food is pricey hur again, worth it. I love it there. My happy place! Goid people, great fun. Don't miss it!
Love it, it's like going far away when you walk through the Lost Forest
Family Fun!
Worth the 56$!
Don't miss the bus ride and sky tram
Best zoo I have ever been to, hands down. Bring your food shoes and sunblock. Well worth the gate price.
Very nice facility. Found it much better than the safari park. Lots of easy to access areas. I will say the maps to all the theme parks In the city are terrible. Please make them more accurate!
My family and I spent about 6 hours at the zoo. We didn't get to see everything (little ones move slow) but we saw enough to enjoy it. The line for pandas was quite long but moved quickly. We rode on the top deck of the bus tour. I thought since it was since we went as soon as the zoo opened it would be ok... But it was super hot! Not sure what people could see on the bottom deck though. Get the refillable drink cup ($12). It works at the Safari too! There aren't many water fountains so we would ask to refill with ice water. Appreciated how parking is free.
Great zoo. Easy to spend an entire day here. Wear good shoes, we walked 6 miles during our visit and still didn't see everything!
Definitely worth the admission price, but they do offer a 10% AAA discount.
Just head in today and it's been agesssss! Due to Covid, I gave it a five star. I hope when the pandemic is better, they'll have more interactions with the animals. It kind of sucks that they're always hiding. Though I understand in this situation. I didn't get to see any pandas and zebras, but I'm hoping to see more animals in the zoo when I come back again. :)
Fantastic place to see a lot of really cool animals!
Amazing zoo, very beautiful! Large and clean! The skylift was so much fun.
Is considered the best zoo in the world for a reason. Endless exhibits, plenty of food and drink options for both kids and adults! I would suggest getting a 2 day pass to really enjoy the entire park, there is almost to much to see in a single day!
A beautiful, well kept and amazingly huge zoo. Animals are kept in their natural habitat and they are so healthy - a treat to watch. I found it a bit expensive - especially because one can't really see the whole zoo (it's massive) in a day's time (the working hours are from 10 to 5, I guess). A great experience for kids and adults alike
Awesome park, will require at least 1 whole day to visit entire zoo. Cable car, panda and insect section are must visit places
I couldn't believe how big it was, lots to see and I even rode across the park in a cable car.
Lots of animals and the aerial tram was great for zipping from one side if the park to another. Great time!
Lots to see. Its size is impressive. Being from Oklahoma, I'd rather go to the okc zoo and save 40.00 and almost see the same animals. Less crowd. We weren't disappointed. But could have done something cheaper on our short trip to san Diego
Well noted the best of the best zoo in the world! Must enjoy a great family time here!
You'll get to see exotic animals from around the world. And learned so much about them too.
Bring your walking shoes! There is so much to see at this beautiful zoo!
I love the zoo great time for family and friends. What's nice about the zoo as you can buy food there or trying to take like a picnic you can do that great great. They also have a great beer selection here as well so you can have a drink walk around or not just spend some time with the family overall great experience.
Best zoo I have ever been to. There are so many animals here and access to them is really great. I appreciate the clean park and large exhibits.
Beautiful setting. Unusual animals. Lots of hilly walking, but there are free buses
Lisa was an amazing V. I. P. guide and our experience was better than expected, worth every penny! We learned so much about the animals we love and how to help by using the sustainable palm oil app and wildlife witness thank you so much. #hornsarenotmedicine
This has to be my favorite zoo! It's huge and has all the animals I could ever imagine.
My favorites included the fennec fox, red panda, and koala. They were all so adorable.
Parking: love that there is free parking and lots of it!
Price: a bit expensive for a zoo but it was worth the price
Food options: lots of counter options as well as a few sit down restaurants. We had the 3 chicken slider sampler which was okay, nothing remarkable.
Shops: variety of souvenirs in all the different habitats
Ariel tram: fun way to get across the park
I really wasn't impressed. The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha is much better and easier to navigate. I like that they're doing good work for the animals. The skylift is a nice feature.
Wonderful zoo. I wonder if the polar bear was on a diet, she looked a little skinny.
I've been to about 12 different zoo's in the country, and I can't say definitively but I think it's the best one out there. There is a lot of incline so be prepared for that.
Loved the zoo! It was nice and breezy on the day we went. A lot of the animals were inactive, which is normal for any zoo. The Skyfari was awesome and gave a little break from the miles you ll put in on your trek. I wasn t a fan of the bus. We sat up top, on the left hand side and couldn t see anything. I would recommend you side on the right/passenger side of the bus, either upstairs or downstairs for the best view.
Love this zoo.. animals were so so cool. Best zoo in country by far
Year passes cant go wrong with that. The SD Zoo is awesome place for some family fun
