One of the most beautiful Zoo I ve ever visited. It is a bit pricey but worth the money. Be sure to walk all around the park because you don t wanna miss any of the animals. It s a good four or five hour walk if you walk everything.

Expansive zoo with a lot to see. Well thought out with opportunities for the littles to climb on stuff throughout. Didn't spend nearly long enough there but had fun in the short time we were there.

This zoo exemplifies what zoos should be! A place where human beings are invited guests. Invited into a space designed for the creatures living there. It's a beautiful maintained space where the animals always come first. Very focused on education, this is a great place for all ages to enjoy. Lots of walking but they do have a number of transportation systems for those with accessibility issues. The food at the stalls and restaurants is well above average. Added plus, you are encouraged to bring your own water bottle and they will fill it for free at any of the food stalls. Environmentally conscious!

It is a nice zoo with lots of animals. The bus tour wasnt worth the time, the zoo itself was beautiful and well kept, but nothing that makes it stand out. I would skip this zoo and head to the Omaha Zoo if you were looking for an amazing zoo experience.

First thing we did when we got there was take the tour bus. Our drivers name was Jacob. Very informative and funny. Let us know all the good spots and how to get to all of them. I thought I'd be here a couple hours and the kids would be tired. We left as the zoo was closing and still wished we had more time. This place was awesome. Will definitely be returning this summer

The San Diego Zoo is a MUST see attraction in San Diego. The tickets are a bit pricey, but there are over 3,000 animals in the whole of the expansive zoo .... lots of mouths to feed. Overall, great visit this afternoon that the whole family enjoyed. We very much appreciated the helpful, friendly staff and the kangaroo bus stops throughout the park.

Beautiful zoo! Conservation focused and interesting exhibits. It took us more than 3 hours to walk the zoo though so plan for a whole day trip if you want to see it all and enjoy what you see. You can also take the tour bus throughout the zoo instead of walking.

Great time visiting the zoo! It's a nice walk, and going midweek was great because there wasn't any crowds. There's a lot of walking, and some uphill so be prepared with good shoes. While the food is a little pricey, they do allow you to bring your own food into the park, which I highly recommend. There are places to stop with picnic tables to eat.

Great holiday time at the park. Polar Express experience was cute and great for kids and those adults who also love the movie. The bus tour is obviously worth the journey. The top deck is the best, right side. Get up close with tigers and tons of animals. Great job for ensuring health of animals and a fun place to spend a day. Our food was delicious and alcohol is available as well! Best deal is a margarita souvenir cup. Refills are cheap and more tequila! Thanks for a great day, San Diego Zoo!

They have beer! It is pricey but cold and they have a variety of craft brews around the park. The park is clean and the exhibits are close. There is always something to see. The aviary exhibits are great. They take AAA discounts.

A very good zoo that seems to go on and on.

A very good zoo that seems to go on and on.

We saved the bus trip, included in the ticket, for later when our feet needed a break. I think that was a good choice. Sit on the upper deck, right side to see the majority of the prominent exhibits. The polar bears were on the left side. The driver shared interesting information.

For photography, much of the glass is in good shape with few scratches and marks. Unfortunately there was no glass to shoot through at the lion exhibit. The leopards and jaguars had some glass and the tigers had a fair amount.

Food was very expensive and it was nothing impressive, which is par for zoos.

Love this zoo! The animals sometimes pose just for the cameras, course other times they pose with their bottom toward the camera! There are lines and it can get very busy! You really need two days to see everything! The polar bears were amazing, loved the pandas!

Absolutely a great family experience! So much to explore and when they say there is something for everyone to enjoy. They mean it. So massive and so many beautiful sites. You can also tell they genuinely do care about every single of the beautiful animals they have with them in the park. Highly recommend for any traveler visiting the area. Only negative I've have is the theme park pricing for tickets.

Amazing Zoo. Best I've been too, and I've been too a few in different countries. I like the large spaces each animal gets. Also how the whole Zoo is accessible for strollers/wheelchairs. There are bus tours, and a free tram that takes you from one side of the park to the other. A must visit if you're in San Diego.

The zoo is one of our favorite places to visit as San Diego natives/residents. The San Diego zoo is such an incredible place to visit. I personally feel like we ve got one of the best zoo s in the world. The park is huge and usually takes more then a day to explore it entirely. Especially if your bringing kids. For anyone that lives in San Diego or visits often I would recommend buying the year pass. With the type of year pass I purchased I m able to bring in a guest every single day if I wanted and all the bus tours are free, as well as 10%pff all food and merchandise. My two children daughter (6) and son (2) ALWAYS have a wonderful time and enjoy visiting a few times a month!!

Don t do the behind the scenes tour or special/vip tour. Waste of money ($90).

Only thing special was feeding lettuce to a giraffe. Other than that was a tour from a golf cart. Didn t see much-see much more walking.

Show up at opening and get to walking. I showed up at opening and walked-looking at animals and continued walking-Saw the whole zoo in about 1 hr and 45 min. You don t have to read everything That s lots trivia stuff of filler info .

The zoo is nice and clean but pandas are gone, the Polar bears are there but never got to see them.

What s special about this zoo???? A gondola ride maybe ???

I have been to the zoo several times but this spring I went with another adult instead of my kids. I was really surprised by how much fun it was as an adult. I always thought the wonder came from being with your kids and seeing their reactions. San Diego Zoo is one of my favorites.

Best Zoo in the country. Bring some good walking shoes. There is plenty of shade as you walk between the exhibits which is perfect in the Summer. The best time to go is in the cooler parts or if there is a light rain as the animals will be more active. In the middle of the hot Summer days the animals are sleeping in the shade.

It has changed and not for the good! Too commercialized, too expensive! And they took out the huge flamingo display in front when you first walk in. I grew up in SD in the 60's and it was so beautiful when you first walked in and saw all the flamingoes. Now it's too small to appreciate it. For years the flamingo exhibit was world renowned! And a lot of other animals are gone! Bad decision! I'll never go back! Shame on SD Zoo!

The new 'Africa Rocks' exhibit is amazing. They have a one year old baby hippo named 'Tony'. He's adorable. Take the chair lift to the top of the park and walk back down or just stay near the slithery terrarium and view the reptiles. The San Diego Zoo is an amazing place!

I really recommend doing the safari tour first and then spend the rest of your time going to each of the individual exhibits. There is something for everyone. You can easily spend a whole day here and still not get to everything. You should ride the skyfari as well. It provides a great view of the park.

I hadn't been to a zoo since I could remember and this place delivered. We didn't intend on staying all day but it was so amazing we ended up not having enough time to check out all that we wanted to. This place is a must if you're vacationing in San Diego.

Wear comfortable shoes, a lot of walking. Beautiful big trees in many of the areas, giving shade awwww food was yummy, and beer was available, pricey but with the warm weather it was a nice option

Amazing zoo very lively and big. Kangaroo buses available inside at 4 stops great for hop in hop off. Lots of animals. So much to learn. Keep your tickets handy you will need it when taking the kangaroo bus( little frustrating). Take the bus tour as your enter so you can mark the map locations as where you want to go. Tour guides are amazing. Fun place.

Awesome attractions. Lots of animals. Fun for the whole family. Very well laid out. Kids under 3 free. Guided bus tours that aren't overly expensive. But like ever theme park the food and refreshments are over priced.

I believe the quantity of zooparks worldwide generally should be limited, because not every unit can handle animals in a dignified way. This one can. By the way I advise you to visit the zoo for the first part of the day, because there are things to watch quite a lot.

What s to say? This place is the Zoo. Really great place to see animals with the family or just want to sight seeing. Just like many places the food is kinda expensive but they do taste alright. The Zoo is kept clean and don t see to much trash. If you really want to explore, come early when they open because once people start piling up, your exploration will be slowed down. Would totally recommend.

Prepare your walking shoes!
Big and beautiful, tons of animals to see and be amazed with.
I found it hard to navigate in there because it was so big, aside from that I had a lot of fun and learned about new animals I never even knew about.
The bus tour was okay at best, the driver was great, but it was just too hard to see anything from the bus.
I would take the tour only if you need a rest for your legs.

This is a very nice place. I love the walking paths through all of the animal exhibits. It's so nice too to take the bus tour, and the ski lift across the park! They really care for their animals!

One of the best zoos I've ever been to. The animals look healthy and were very active. Highly recommend the tours (separate purchase.) The Inside Look (koalas) was educational and fun. Our guide, Becca, was great! Go early if you want to see everything. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

One of the best zoo's in the world, the new Africa Rocks area is especially worth seeing. Had a great time watching the otters play and the elephant care facilities - we actually got to watch the elephants feet being checked and learn about how they're trained to make the inspections easier on the keepers.

Well worth the price of admission. The zoo was huge and it's easy to get lost in. There's plenty for everybody and when you get tired of fighting your way through strollers, there always beer. The views are amazing as well, especially from the gondola ride.
