Very big!! Plan to spend at least all day. VERY expensive. Food was VERY expensive. Two adults had pizza and a wrap and two children's pizza and two ice teas equal $60!!! Not very good either! Four adults and two children cost $300+. Go early and stay until closing to get monies worth!! I don't even know how much the tours were running!

Lots of birds. I have been to alot of zoos and for a 60 dollar a person to get into San Diego Zoo I was expecting alot. As we were walking to the car I said this was my least favorite zoo. To confusing no clear way to go way overpriced. Food and drinks were expensive to. We were here during Covid not sure if that affected our visit.

There are two zoos in San Diego. This one is a small one in the central part of the city. And the other one, which is the Safari Park, is 30 times larger than this one! And you can enjoy a round riding trip there.

Total a surprise in a brilliant way. Such a great animal kindom construction with a lot of thoughts built in. They have cable carts and pedestrian bridge as high as in the sky. Rare animals are given adequate space and care. Great to visit during winter time.

#1 location to visit while in San Diego. The wildlife is breathtaking as well as the passion and care put into every animal. So many creatures I have not been able to see in person. Catch the bus for a great overview then trek through on foot for the best experience!

Beautiful zoo but because it s split into two parks, it s difficult to navigate where the animals are. I feel that they purposely misled us on a few things. Overall, a beautiful zoo and not to be missed. Too expensive. Food was good, especially for a zoo. Lots of amazing exhibits.

It is over 100 years old and os well laid out. The exihibits are well designed incorporating many very old trees. Even new sections are well made to show the animals with the least amount of visible barriers. I recommend going early to get a good parking space. Bring a bottle or 2 of water, and be ready to walk up and down hills. It will take several days to see everything, so plan to purchase an annual pass, it pays for itself in 2 or 3 visits. Plus you can visit the Safari Park near Escondito with the same pass. Both are always a pleasure to visit!

Great vacation to the zoo! My family had a fantastic time. Staff was extremely helpful with an issue that I had with my digital picture that I bought from the zoo. Five stars for the San Diego Zoo!!! Much thanks!!!!

If you're in the city you absolutely HAVE to go to this Zoo! I huge selection of animals, informative staff and guides, and very well laid out. There's a lot of walking involved so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Well worth the cost of the ticket. It's a world renowned zoo for a reason! I was very impressed by the bus tour and SkyTram that are included in your admission fee. The animals habitats were large and well designed for each animal, and the park itself is extremely well landscaped and is a beautiful sight in and of itself. Additionally, they have lots of varieties of animals I had never seen in any other zoo. A must see in San Diego; we can't wait to come back!

Best zoo I ve ever been to! My only disappointment was the fact that the panda area was closed and we weren t sure why. Other than that, amazing!!!! It s really immersive. Be prepared to walk so wear comfy shoes. The exhibits are well laid out and fairly large. The animals seem to be very well taken care of. I loved the nature walk through all the birds especially! The koalas ate probably the nearest thing we saw. I ve never seen a koala in real life and they were all cuddled up in their respective trees. The shops are really fun too! I got a sloth sweater there that I get tons of compliments on because of how cute it is. We got stuck in the rain and a staff member brought us all out bags of popcorn while people waited out the storm under the dining umbrellas. We also took the sky tram thing and holy wow was that cool! I m terrified of heights and managed to be amazed! This was definitely one of the best zoos I ve visited. They seem to actually care about animal conservation (there are leopards at this zoo that are in a breeding database to strengthen their DNA. Once there are enough of them they will go to a protected reserve in Russia where they are naturally from to reproduce and repopulate!).

Such a fantastic place. I find something new to see each time I go. And the plants are as fascinating as the animals. The guided tours are highly recommended. The staff giving the tours are very knowledgeable and have always been so friendly. They can really give you a behind the scenes look at the zoo and its mission to save the world wildlife and flora. Well worth the money as they are a nonprofit and the money goes to their conservation programs.

Possibly the best Zoo in the world. An absolute Paradise for anyone who loves animals and nature. They have well maintained enclosures and very friendly staff. The place is not extremely big and if you are a fit person you can cover all the enclosures over 7-8 hours. There are some very good food options available inside. Great place to bring kids in. The avaitory section and panda section remain the major highlights

Probably one of the best kept zoos in the world. Clean and nice areas for animals to live. A bit of irony as predator and prey are sometimes so close its taunting. What a beautiful place to spend the day amongst flora and fauna from around the world.

I cannot rate the San Diego Zoo high enough. The exhibits are amazing and any money you spend goes back to conservation and research. You can have a great time and feel good about where your money is going.

We had so much fun here. We used the Gocard and went 2 days in a row. One day was spent just walking around taking in the scenery. The second day we did the airway and bus tour. So much to see and do. We will be back. If you have cable watch their show beforehand. It's fun to know about the animals before seeing them in person!

What a fantastic day, well worth the long drive!! We enjoyed the bus tour around the zoo to start off, then made our own way to the different areas. I thought some of the areas needed more signage! A few of the animals thought it was too hot, so they hid

Definitely a great way to spend the day! I usually spend a few hours here and I ll still have time to do something else in SD before the day is over. You can spend the whole day here or just a few hours. I recommend going onto the Skyfari, the view is beautiful.

Ticket prices are reasonable and I really support their message on conservation. The parking is free and there is plenty of parking. This is very family friendly and I see many kids having fun.

Wonderful! Beautiful foliage and a huge variety of animals from all over
the world. Each section is numbered so one can easily follow the map. Also, there is a "Kangaroo" Bus which allows one to move around the park without having to walk all the way around the extensive acreage.

I have loved this zoo every since I first came here 30 years ago. Things have changed quite a bit since then and it's all for the best except for of sad thing. This is the end of the giant panda exhibit which will be closing at the end of this month (April 2019) due to an end of the 20 year lease with China. I highly recommend you get in to see them before they leave. I will admit that they are sometimes a bit torpid after eating but they are a rare sight to behold in real life.

The best zoo I have ever been to. I loved that they offer companion passes for people with disabilities. The accessibility and accommodations were wonderful. The bus tour guide, Doug, was so fun and knowledgeable.

Great zoo, totally worth the price! Takes all day to get through so make sure to bring your walking shoes.
The panda line was super long but moved along pretty quickly. We didnt know the sky lift was included so that was a nice surprise.
The zoo was extremely clean, many people around to help answer questions and help guide us around. The animals really seem very well taken care of! Thank you to all the staff, amazing experience.

Great attraction for everyone, young and old. There are so many animals and attractions I love the San Diego Zoo. Each exhibit is well designed with plenty of opportunity to view the animals. There is a bus tour you can take if you don't want to walk around the park. They have plenty of food and alcohol too. You can bring in food and drinks if you don't are prepared. Check out the map before you start exploring there is too much to see in one day so pick the animals you really want to see and plan accordingly.

The Best of the best you need five to seven days to take it all in and may still find something you didn't get to. the food is good costly of course but at least it worth it. no need to jedi mind trick yourself to eat it. try the tour bus for a quick oversight and enjoy

Wow go here on a day that's 70 degrees and beautiful and you get to see all of the animals. Gorillas baboons birds leopards tortoises lizards we saw it all! Awesome park to walk around. Wear comfortable shoes due to uphill pavement walking.

Is a great place for the family I just dislike the new alcoholic approach, to bring more people in is a family park not a bar that is why I just give this place a 4 start rate.
If people need to drink to see animals them they are not needed at a Zoo they can't stay home and look at their pets and get drunk in the confort of their home without making a scene or a foul of themselves to other people that just want to go and enjoy the park and the animals.
Again im against serving alcoholic beverages in any family park were children can see bad people getting waisted.

I hadn't been to the zoo in a very long time and now after going recently I'm disappointed I haven't gone more often. There's tons to do. The Reptile House is full of exotic/endangered snakes and lizards. If you're a fan snakes I recommend you go. The panda exhibit I would hit first as it's the longest line.

Absolutely the best time ever!! We had an amazing day! The staff was super helpful every step of the way. I really liked that there were volunteers all along the way that gave directions and knew various tidbits about the animals. That really gave an even better experience. The zoo is really large so definitely wear comfortable shoes. Also there were strollers and scooters to rent for the day. And they have lockers and bins that can be rented to put your things in if you don't want to walk around carrying souvenirs. This was absolutely an amazing time.

A fantastic day out for adults and children. The $44 one day entry fee was good value for what was on offer, we spent about 6 and a half hours here and left mainly because we were tired, you could easily have spent longer. The animals were beautifully healthy and well looked after in lovely natural looking surroundings. The staff are so helpful and genuinely seem to enjoy improving your day. There was a wide array of food, drink and souvenirs available to purchase and the prices were reasonable, of not cheap. The zoo sees itself as a place for conservation and research over and above a tourist attraction, and it is run not for profit.

The zoo itself is a pretty amazing place. It has incredible landscaping and is laid out fairly well. It is clean and the bus tour and cable car are great. However, it is insanely packed and somewhat expensive. Admission for an adult is $54. Food and drinks are super expensive. In my opinion they admit too many people, which results in super long lines and difficulty seeing the animals. There is a line at the admission gate, at the cable car, at the bus and at the panda exhibit. All of these result in wasting valuable time, which makes it almost impossible to see the whole zoo in a single day. I also found some of the animal enclosures to be surprisingly small, including the lions and jaguars. Makes you feel bad for the animals. The elephant exhibit is pretty impressive, as are the gorillas.

This place is both affordable and well worth your investment. It's is very beautiful and has a very nice atmosphere. Fun for dates, field trips, or just to get out of the house. There is a lot to do and even more to see.
