The zoo was amazing, very big. Some of the more interesting animals were sleeping or hiding. Prepare for a lot of walking.

Really fun a great place to take anyone kids, adults, seniors. It's such a beautiful plce with so many animals, plants and educational things.
World class animals and plants. Great for an outing with a grandson!
Probably the best in America. Beautiful landscaping and plant life. It is a great time for the whole family.
We truly loved visiting this zoo. The bus tour around the entire park was a must! We got to see so much more this way. Also, the animals were out and active in December. It was perfect weather too! Good times had by all!
Massive zoo with really cool changes in terrain. Eat your Wheaties and bring good walking shoes.
Had a great time there years ago. I have been meaning to post the pictures for a long time. I am not a huge fan of zoos or aquariums, however I was in California for business and we stopped by the zoo. It was a super interesting experience and I wish we could have spent more time there.
Our kids fi8time to the San Diego Zoo. Had a blast. Wish the polar bears were there but overall had a great time!!
Got told by one of the workers to hold a mask over my 3yr olds face with high risk Asma and no ear. Will not be returning to this establishment.
The zoo was amazing. A ton of animals out and about. Lots of viewing areas for all. I recommend going on a warm clear day, the animals are more playful during those times. I warn you about going to early, some of the animals are still sleeping at the time the park opens. It can all be seen in a day if you are quick. It was great to see so many exotic and cool animals. Staff is very helpful and friendly!
Honestly don t get what all the hype is about. I don t think the zoo is that great. It is way overpriced for sure. The Cincinnati and Miami zoo blow this one out of the park. Not worth the cost or time if you re visiting.
Get ready for a lot of walking. This place is the size of Disney land, without the annoying characters. Lots of exhibits and decent food.
If you are an animal lover you MUST visit this zoos. You can rest assured that these animals are well taken care of! A great destination for any age!
Fantastic zoo. Super well kept grounds. All the animals looked extremely healthy. All the exhibits were clean as well. There was a large variety of animals. It is expensive - about $65 for adults. But definitely a good experience.
Excellent place to see live animals you would only watch on national geographic channel
Love it here I come 3 to 4 times a week!!! My favorite place to be.
We haven't been to the zoo in a long time, it's certainly much improved.
Wonderful exhibits. Incredibly friendly staff. All proceeds go towards animal preservation
Great zoo! I could easily spend all day here. I liked starting off the morning with the bus tour, which gives you a good sense of the zoo s layout and a chance to see a lot of the animals while they re awake.
If you are in San Diego this is the place to go with your family. Tons to see with the family and a great way to spend the day. Something for everyone!
One of the best zoos in the nation. The new Africa Rocks exhibit is a must visit!
Loved the zoo and all the activities throughout! Spent about 4 hours here, could have easily stayed all day. The zoo is clean and well maintained and there are A LOT of animals.
Constantly updating and improving an already amazing place
Best zoo ever. They have everything! The animals clearly have enough space and are well looked after. Be sure to pack your own food though c: the Hua Mei (spelling?) is he best place to eat if you can't bring your own food.
Great exhibits, very educational. Would reccomend for older children.
It's a really good zoo, but honestly way over priced. Zoo here is free and is a pretty good zoo. In my opinion the Omaha zoo was better.
This place is huge! We didn't get a chance to see the whole park. Which were were kind of disappointed, but the Xmas lights were beautiful. Nice 1st visit experience. I guess that gives us Another reason for us to visit!
My girlfriend and I had an amazing time. Lots to see and do. Spent about five hours there and only saw about 60% of what they had to see. Most of the animals were out and easy to see. Great experience for our vacation.
The best zoo I've been to and I've been to tons of zoos on three continents! The lost jungle portion is especially impressive. To attain such an organic and natural feel from enclosure to enclosure in such a vertical space is quite amazing. I love this zoo and be sure my wife and I will be back many times in the future.
Loved it rode the bus couldn't see too much had to walk. Looks nice riding overhead at night
Wow! What a terrific experienced! We enjoyed all of the animals on a beautiful sunny day! The zoo staff were friendly at every encounter.
Had great time with my sister and my two nieces. It s a great zoo for family. Morning breakfast with Pandas is the best. It s totally worth it if you are a panda lover. You can t see them more closer if otherwise. It has hop on and hop off busses, so if you don t like to walk much and like to see only specific animals, this would be your best bet. It has an AirTran which is fun.
Great animals see for your self have a great day hope you visit this and have the same good experience I did
What a lovely zoo. Get there as soon as the gate opens to avoid the crowds as it gets really crowded after 11am. Albert's Restaurant is a great place for a nice sit-down lunch, but make reservations or you'll be waiting a long time for a table. There is a bar though, and you can wait there I think.
We always have so much fun at the zoo. We love seeing all the animals. You can do interactive experiences with certain animals. I highly recommend feeding the giraffes.
The San Diego zoo is just amazing. It's a must see. It is quite large and takes a while to see it all, probably a couple days if you really want to see all it has to offer.
Great zoo with wonderful exhibits. The hills and stairs are a lot, though so make sure you stay hydrated.
Amazing place if everybody walked on-the right lol just like driving.
I think one of the best Zoo's I have visited. Very well managed, the free bus rides are real good deal to have a feel of the place. There is a separate bus just to hop off and on. Lots of dining and quick eats options. Animals kept safe, some rare endangered species bred, the vegetation suited to animals. It's really a well maintained Zoo.
Great zoo, very large so be prepared to walk. Plenty of shade, free parking you can bring your own food or buy the food on site. We typically spend about 4 hours each visit
Better than expected.. We went in the morning to beat the crowds. The animals were pretty active too. We recommend the zoo to others
The zoo was decent. The weather wasn't thr best on this day so we didn't see a lot of the animals. I still would recommend a stop here but I still feel like the Safari park is so much better.
Always a family fun place to spend the day in San Diego. They are always finding ways to make the exhibits better for you and the animals. A must see if you are visiting. Enjoy the our World Famous Zoo!
Its the San Diego Zoo....i don't need to say anything else besides it's worth every penny.
So much fun!! The staff was incredibly friendly and we were actually able to see 95% of the animals!
Great place except Little over priced. Really bad and low quility food.service.
one of the best zoo in the world i really recommend
Really amazing zoo with many animals to see and other activities to do. They have an assortment of souvenir shops, snack bars, and restaurants as well. The park also allows drinking inside, and offers decent drinks at the bars. Great little getaway for kids and adults. It can take from open until close to see all the animals and enjoy a lunch, so don't get there too late in the day.
Great place for adults and children and if u dont want to walk around if u buy tickets for 1 or 2 days you can use the turist buses and dont have to pay for it.Go around the zoo enjoyed and have a great time.Zoo is big.
I think this is the best zoo in the US. I was very impressed with the size and topography of this huge park.
Best zoo ever never crowded feels like your own personal experience
Excellent zoo. Lots of ways around. Buses and a skylift. Walking and tours. Get a day pass as it allows you unlimited buss and Skyview rides with your admission. Lots of hills so be prepared for that.
What a beautiful place to visit. The animal habits we're great and all the plant life is amazing.
Great place to visit for people of all ages. The enclosures are huge and are great for getting close to the animals. Bring comfortable shoes to walk in because you're going to log a lot of steps
I have heard so much about this zoo I was expecting it to be amazing. It was not. It was a great zoo but nothing special. I think I was expecting to much. It is definitely worth checking out but the Milwaukee zoo in Wisconsin is a much better zoo.
I do believe we have the most beautiful Zoo in the world. Perfect weather all the time.
Nice free big parking. Lots of restrooms which is important with young kids. About 50$ per person which include a bus ride of 45 minutes of the facilities. It was a long bus tour for our daughter of 3 but she handle it. Lots of proximity to animals, many different kinds of animal. I recommend but bring your water and food if possible ( because the whole day can endup very expensive ).
This was my first time going and I was so happy to go. My friend and spent most of our afternoon there. The animals were beautiful. We loved the Panda and the Gorillas. It was very easy to walk around the park. We may have missed a few things but we had a great time seeing what we have seen. I would love to go back to visit again. Good food and friendly staff. Oh we enjoyed the elephants as well. One was moving side to side as if she was listening to music. Great Times, good exercise too.
Not the best zoo with young kids. It's too big and too steep for toddlers, with not enough shade. We waited 1h for the bus tour, big mistake ! we should have gone for the kangaroo bus first, where you can drop off along the way. Plus there was no family restroom at the entrance! It's a big disappointment for our family (our 3 yo said he didn't like it while he loves animals)... I trust they do an amazing job for conservation and the zoo is great for the animals, but much less for families with young kids.
So many animals to see. But be prepared for the hills. There is a bus system if you need. Can't wait to visit the Safari park later!
It is no wonder this is considered the best zoo in the world. Beautiful displays as well as very pleasant helpful docents. Love the option to walk or take the tour bus and everything is set up to be handicapped accessible.
Wonderful experience and would highly recommend it to anyone! So clean and the staff awesome!
I was disappointed in the condition of the tortoise. They looked very sick to me.
Tickets are on the pricey side but the attractions are great. Lots to see! Exhibits are clean and fun. Definitely recommend going early on a week day. We were there at 9 am when they opened and left at 2 pm. We still didn't see all they had to offer, but in July it was getting a little bit hot. We would like to go back some day.
Large zoo with many attractions, be ready to spend the majority of the day walking. Facility was well kept and the animals seemed in good condition.
It's a great Zoo !! I just happened to be there when they were doing a lot of construction on the habitats!
Not the only reason to come to SD, but one of the best reasons. Wish I had a couple more days.
Great family outing free drinks refills all day! Friendly staff the exhibits are well taking care of the animals healthy just all around fun adventure
This zoo is wonderful and the staff are very friendly, the only thing about this zoo that I dislike is that it's not super easy to navigate. Either a new map is needed, or possibly even colored footpaths to signify where you are headed and that way you know which exhibits you've seen and which ones you haven't. And there are SOO many exhibits.
the zoo is always fun. free for military, but also cheap for a season pass. tons of animals. lots of shady spots to rest. the only thing i didn t like was they won t give you free iced water refills in your zoo cup. definitely bring your own water and snacks!
So many animals. Great trails. Beer. Kinda expensive but totally worth it.
Unmatched variety of flora and fauna.
You gotta take your time - even if you're from out of town. Don't jam through thinking pandas will be doing Kung fu or the hippos are all that graceful- I guarantee you'll see more poop than you ever could imagine.
A visit to this zoo is not about $12 sodas -or even the unique live human entertainment.
It's your chance to glimpse at the worlds creatures face to face.
There would be a 5th star today if we had some knowledge of the massive reconstruction/renovation/upgrade currently in progress BEFORE we renewed our passes.
Wonderful educational, inspirational, and fun activity. The guided tour that was free with the zoo ticket is not to be missed. Knowledgeable guides who are passionate and entertaining make this one of the best tours I've taken. We did not see tons of animals because we were there in the heat of the day. A mistake on our part! The animals start to perk up about 4ish and the zoo is open until 9. Going later would have been better. Even so, the layout of the zoo and information was excellent.
Best zoo we've ever been too. So much to explore and see here. A must while in San Diego.
The tour buses that are everywhere are polluting the air and you can smell the exhaust and not the fresh air anywhere you go. You can t walk and feel you toddlers are safe because of the buses. Not to mention some animals looked so lethargic like the poor pandas! And before you get to them you encounter zoo employees that try to sell you pictures etc .. no surprise there because once we saw the pandas we were very sad and we didn t want to support them staying there.
Went here on a solo trip from my company giving me a ticket and I LOVED IT! I would live here if they let me or if people found me interesting enough to keep me as an exhibit!
Presidents day is a train wreck. Too many people. Looked for parking in the main lot, a secondary lot and valet was full. Ended up not going. We are members and love it there but would not go on presidents day.
Amazing zoo. A bit expensive, but definitely worth the price.
