Awesome museum, pretty big and several interesting exhibitions. Great place to visit.
Awesome museum, pretty big and several interesting exhibitions. Great place to visit.
Its big, and they have really nice collection. Staff and security guards were friendly and recommended which exhibits were the best.
Personnel very kind, clean and beautiful. But is missing some modern art.
Beautiful layout, designed to showcase the art. My son loved the Greek/Roman exhibit, but he was not impressed with modern art. We had fun!
All the exhibits were exquisite! Thank you H.E.B. for contributing to the free 4 to 9 pm showcase every Tuesday. The guided tour of the Spanish paintings was great!
Excellent art museum. Plan more than 3 hours for your visit. Several levels of art from throughout the world.
The museum needs to remodel or use another bldg for their auditorium. The rows a so tight that it would be a big catastrophe if people had to evacuate in an emergency.
The art changes here from time to time. Always good to see what new stuff they have.
Great Sunday morning experience with family.. Bonus it was free before noon!
Was very big.... And had a lot of interestimg pictures and pieces
They have so many things to see and I love that they offer student discounts. Make sure to give yourself a few hours to see everything. Also, weddings there are amazing. They give you a few different areas to get ready in and the ceremony is under the multicolored glass walkway. They have a few people stay to make sure you don't destroy stuff and they don't allow alcohol, but that's understandable. Overall, every time I've been there, it's been great.
Ok so over all this is a good place and I went many many many times. So that leads to why it s only 4 stars to me. It seems like they rarely had anything new to see. It s great for a mid size city but for one the size of San Antonio, it should be more. And that s not the fault of the museum, it s just not the kind of town that cares.
Great collection of items, we spent around 4 hours looking at everything, taking pictures is allowed but don't use flash
Tuesdays are free, and they have awesome exhibits here, the staff is super nice and will guide you if you get lost I spent about 4hours here mesmerized by the fantastic art displays. Gift shop was a tad bit pricey but besides that it was a good time would recommend to SA locals and visitors alike
Very nice and big but Free Tuesday s are very misleading, I m a student taking online classes from out of the city and live in the City and I had to pay and my partner didn t. That definitely bummed me out, they need to put that on their website. Other than that little issue, it was a great experience.
So much space to explore. And on 4 levels. Extraordinary art!! My 3yr old loved it
Loved the exhibits. However, a lot of pieces were missing as they are doing renovations.
They have great works of art, well worth the price to get in. They also have senior, military/vet and student discounts.
Amazing variety of art, laege collection and beautifully displayed in a beautiful historic building. The onsite restaurant is amazing also
I absolutely love this place I love coming here very cultured place
My favorite exhibit at SAMA is the Walter F. Brown section
Spain exhibit was amazing
The view from the bridge was good.
The museum was over all great and interesting.
Great collections, good volunteers, interesting programs
Honestly, both surprised and extremely impressed by this museum. Great collection and a beautiful facility. Would go again for sure.
Loved the exhibits split into different cultures and countries.
nice exhibit's . They used to have more to see . And the price has gone up. Used to be $8 now its $20 per adult .
Interesting and a calm atmosphere and good treatment
Its a pretty big Art museum. Took us About 2.5 hours to get it done.
Very nice art museum with lots of different exhibits Greek Egyptian Native American Latin Mexican very well done kind of pricey but well worth it.
One of the best experience for our family. My kids loved it .Definitely going back
I love it!!! Great place to bring family and friends.
Love going here seeing different cultures art work as well as modern work. Gift shop, little place for a quick snack if you come early in the day. Fourth floor viewing walkway to see downtown. Very nice.
This museum is definite stop when visiting San Antonio.
Wonderful collection, that covers many different cultures. Very friendly staff, and they often have days when entry is free
Great collection. Museum is just the right size to see in one day. Definitely worth the time
Spectacular, it's worth going and on Sundays from 10 to 12 of the day the entrance is free
We go to a lot or art museums when we are traveling and a lot of times we're disappointed. This one was one of the best we've seen.
Nice place to vist to many arts and sculptures to look at learned many new things here.
We visited several museums while in San Antonio, and this was by far the best.
This museum is mostly historical art, they have several different collections: China, Greek, Egypt, Roman, Texan, Mayan, American, Religious, and more.
On Sundays, if you arrive before noon, the admission is free.
Also, on Sunday at 11 there was a tour of the museum, this was great!!!
Finally, parking is free.
I love it. Lots to see and do. Just off the Riverwalk. It's just fantastic place to go and browse. Admission is very affordable, and if you are broke you can go free on Tuesdays!
Gorgeous museum, one of the highest quality art exhibits in the South/State of Texas. Perfect for dates
First it was an awesome building..Any organization that repurposes historical buildings is commendable...broad variety of exhibits...the Aboriginal display was unique as was the Oceanic display of wood carvings. Large collection of Buddahs was very interesting and the Ming dynasty collection of figurines, sculptures and vases was also top notch.. Hats off to the schools that brought classes in to view and learn about the exhibits...
Only acceptable place. Extremely expensive entrance plus parking.
They have a very impressive collection of antiquities and modern era pieces. The layout is excellent, the parking is supple and the ensemble of pieces is definitely worth the price of admission.
I was trying to read the card inside the sarcofocus case and leaned over the top touching the top of the case. I got reminded not to touch anything buy a guard. Next thing you know this guy is 15 feet behine me for two floors and then I was followed closely on every floor during the entire visit. It felt very creepy. I even confronted the first guard and ask him if he was going to hawk me the entire time I was looking at the displays. I know I was being followed because after the last floor we walked thru he was out in the entry way. I had apologized for my indescretion at the time but was bothered that they felt they needed to hawk me like I intentionally would do anything the that beautiful museum. They ruined my visit.
Wonderful collections, helpful staff, and the on site restaurant was delicious!
You can easily spend more time than you planned for at this museum. Lots of cultural history from various places.
Love this museum! Great art, from all cultures. Clean and friendly.
The SAMA is the go-to place for a fun experience with the family. There are many things to explore within the museum.
Awsome place for everyone to visit my grandchildren had lots of fun..
Very nice collection. Good selection of early American Artists
Overall great experience, more people allowed in building than expected though with covid
Just fantastic! Went for a weekend trip with the family during the free time, and there was something for everyone. The scale of the exhibits is belied by the outside of the building, and was a genuine surprise once inside.
While not unique to this particular museum, I never fail to experience the sense of grandness of history after a visit. This alone should get you to visit once in a while. Honestly if I had one regret it's going during the free hour, where I feel I cheated the museum out of well deserved patronage.
Just saw the Texas Women's abstract art exhibit, it was amazing!
This is a wonderful place to spend time. So much to see. Very well done displays. I am proud to be a member.
It has antiquities to look at and it offers Sundays from 10 am to 12 pm is free. Many interesting things to see if you like history and art. From the Bronze Age to modern art. The amateur and the professional will appreciate the artwork throughout the ages. It was a pleasure looking at all the antiquities that I have only seen in history books or documentaries.
One of my favorite museums in San Antonio. I highly recommended for all of the amazing art on each floor. you can even see a wonderful election selection of Greek and Roman statues and pottery as well as Oceanic art! Really a terrific Museum and you will love the outdoor area to where you can sit picnic or order food.
