Samuel's of Rhinebeck Review

Stopped in for coffee, now we drive over an hour every few months. just a great place, and always something new to see Everytime we go, one day we will get to meet the owners.

Simply the Best.. Awesome Service.. Treats are Delicious ...

Coffee was good, staff could not have been less welcoming/friendly. I actually had to ask them if they were open for business. Interestingly enough, when a white customer came in, they were tripping over themselves to help her. It was shocking for Rhinebeck. Won t be returning.

Top notch chocolate treats. Tried: caramel squares in dark chocolate (not too sweet, soft version) - excellent, hazelnut truffle (just well balanced) - excellent, orange peel in dark chocolate - eh, bacon bark (a bit spicy) - 4/5. Coffee is good. Service is good (excellent if you consider the girls are fairly young to have much experience).

The staff was great and made our experience awesome. Everyone should stop by and get fantastic treats and drinks!

Awesome experience. We took our 5 year old to check this place out, mentioning that Ant-Man might show up.

We were lucky, because the guy ringing us up was really slow and then Paul Rudd showed up and said hi to everyone, which was very cool.

The cashier asked us That it? , but we were too star struck to notice because Mr. Rudd was waving to everyone.

When I looked at the cashier, I noticed it was the guy who plays Nick Fury in the Marvel films!

He looked me in the eye and said, rather sternly, That it, Mother$%^&er?

Mr. Rudd heard the exchange, looked at me, we both laughed and I yelled Hey man, maybe change the name of the place to Samuel L. Jackson s Sweet Shop and everyone in the place laughed and they gave my kid a bunch of free candy.

Crossovers like this are epic!

Feels like home. John is amazing and goes above and beyond. Carrot cake is amazing. If John recommends something, do me a favor and listen. Drove 4 hours for carrot cake and the best company hands down. Will go again and again.

I have only ordered online and over the phone because I don't live anywhere near here, but their customer service is above and beyond. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and the treats were divine. I will definitely be continuing to order from here in the future and I hope to one day be able to shop in person.

The staff is upbeat, friendly and knowledgeable, and add to the overall experience. The selection of high quality confections is large enough for anyone to find something (multiple things) they love. Be wary of the free samples; you will find a new addiction without even knowing it.

Seems like a cute shop my daughter enjoyed the candy, but the employee making the coffee was very rude and gave me a cup that was half full.

A candy store apparently co-owner by Paul Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Some of the best hot chocolate I have had recently in my life.

Sure, some of it s a little pricy upon first glance, but I tried a bunch of the chocolates and truffles and everything was delicious, so it s worth the treat! Beyond the quality of the sweets, the staff members here are all so nice and friendly! Excellent customer service!

Very cute little sweet shop. Lots of goodies, and coffee. The Guys are very nice and quick to help. The only thing is, it's very expensive. But worth it. The truffles are truly delicious.

Great coffee, great service, great prices, charming little store, and you can even get a latte! If you like candy, this place is like heaven because they have everything imaginable and it's in a cute, retro setting with all kinds of treats in jars. There also have delicious cookies and muffins. I had a spinach and feta croissant that was heavenly. Highly recommend this place. And Rhinebeck itself is so lovely.

A family favorite. Shoppe has nostalgic candy from when we were kids. Very small shop. Standing room only when picking out your purchases. You can stop for a coffee and cookies.

The sweetest sweet shop ever. The staff are mostly young getting a start with their first jobs and are eager to please.

we take a yearly ride up to rhineback to spend the day trapsing around. we alwaya stop in Samules since my daughter is a huge fan of supernatural. they have great cookies and pastries too the staff is friendly and will point you in the right direction for good local eats!!

We wanted to come here because it's Paul Rudd's candy shop. The candy is overpriced and should be sold by weight not by a single piece of chocolate. Maybe it's a NY thing? I don't know. But we came for the experience so? And the shop is tiny, you can't get by a single person.

Paul is at the shop on the 15th of every month from 11-2 dressed up as Willy Wonka!

An incredible array of different candies and treats that you won't get anywhere else. Coffee as well. It can be a bit pricey so be ready for that.

Ira would be proud! When the owner passed away suddenly he left behind memories of warmth and welcome. Thankfully his staff is creating more of the same and great coffee to boot!

I have used Samuel's for the last 2 Christmas's to send a large amount of gifts to clients. John and everyone at SSS are so easy to work with and our clients from all over the country love to get a taste of the Hudson Valley!

It's like if that toy store from Home Alone 2 was a candy shop, if that makes sense. It's an adorable little shop. The caramels were divine and the hot cocoa was excellent.

quaint little candy shop with a large selection of candies and chocolates. A little pricy however not a budget breaker just don t expect to leave with a pound of chocolates lol we had the chai latte and Nutella cup, simply amazing. Definitely going back some day.

It's a tiny little shop with a celebrity backing. I've been here twice and while I appreciate the sentiment behind the business and hope it thrives I found some staff members to be extremely rude. I had to bite my tongue when a staff member tried to miseducate someone about gluten allergies as not all chocolate candy is gluten free. Theirs might be, but a lot of places add wheat to chocolate so it doesnt hurt to know that information. Still if you want to check it out its worth a look.

Treats are pretty good, but minus two stars for the usuriously expensive prices. $4.95 for a chocolate covered Oreo and $5.95 for a small sugar cookie?? I'm sorry, but those prices are outrageous.

Great place, don't get me wrong... but there was some big dude with a Fonzie jacket smashing almonds with a bob wired baseball bat in the back. He looked like he'd been through a lot so I didn't say anything. He must know what he's doing because the candy is great. Some other dude with no watch kept humming something that sounded like "the weather outside is Weather" and when I handed him a flyer I found, he just looked at it like Man they won t change that stupid flyer, Chuck s my mainland name, my Hawaiian names Kunu. I was like, "Dude... we're in New York".
He just looked at me and laughed and said.."OK Monster man"! Oddest 15 minutes I've had in a while.

I have made a few on-line purchases as gifts and got rave reviews! John helped me via email and telephone and he was a tremendous help! I'll actually be visiting there in February and looking to make a purchase for myself that I can enjoy too!

Are you kidding me? They were selling pumpkin pies from Deising's bakery in Kingston for $24.95. Deising's sells them for $11.95. Scandalous. Have they forgotten that people actually live in Rhinebeck and are not just tourists?

Very nice place filled with plenty of sweets. The homemade fudge was delicious. Coffee was excellent. The service was very good too. A little pricey on some items but still a very cool place to check out

Cutest little candy shop in the historic town of Rhinebeck ny. Family run and very friendly.....GREAT selection of old candy amd chocolates...not bad prices either....highly recomend you at least stop in if in the area...u won't regret it..

Hands down the best coffee around! They make fantastic lattes (especially the pumpkin spice), the employees are very courteous and friendly, and the sweets are to die for!
