Big, saves on nothing. More than worth a visit, and everything wonderfully clean.
Beautiful building and well adapted to the needs of a library.
We still had some time to look at the layout of the library in the former post office. The building itself has been beautifully restored. Fr. W 2020
In the posted photos, The former entrance of the Post Office and view of the hall, from the top floor.
Wow. The new library is great! Beautiful building and great facilities.
Nice old building, big library, lots of books and lots to do. Great atmosphere and nice restaurant.
The building is very nice, it's old but also quite modern. There are a lot of books, there are also some DVDs and listening books. For studying and quite reading there are also some quite rooms, with enough room for you to work or read. I haven't found any comics or anything like them, but there is a whole lot of variety between the books they have.
Nice clear big library with enough places to study. Many windows offer a nice view as well.
Fortunately, most of the original part has been preserved
Magnificent! Friendly staff and so much choice. I the library
Fantastic! Collection, building employees ... delicious
The public library, which now houses the Film Festival, offers study places as well as many books. Much use is made of this
All this in the old main post office on the Neude
I love this place with its light study spots, dark rows with book shelves, rooms for education and culture and friendly people. Quite and comfy.
Amazing library with a wide selection of different books - but also games and such. New location is absolutely beautiful!
An experience in itself, just the impressive building of the Amsterdam School architecture. When you get in here, you don't get out that quickly, given the enormous selection in the library.
Chapeau Utrecht! What a beautiful and above all functional library, also public, so accessible to everyone. I mainly come here for the nice study places: what a relief during a heat wave in combination with thesis deadlines. There are plenty of sockets, if you look closely you will see that they are neatly stored in the floor outside of use. Sanitary facilities also more than excellent and perfectly fine. Also very nice that there is a lot of staff and a guard present - their intervention has not yet been necessary and hopefully it will remain so. The cafeteria is currently closed - presumably due to corona conditions - so some people consider the library to be less pleasant. Perhaps that dissatisfaction after corona, if coffee is allowed again, will dissipate and everyone can be happy with this super nice library.
See you again soon!
Actually worth 5 stars, but because it is not yet in full operation, a good rating is now difficult.
It had so much potential. Yet alas, that potential has been wasted. Without soul, aesthetically mediocre at best (a ruined wonderful piece of architecture) , and a lack of cohesion. Seems to be have been created for a handful of students and children. What about the rest of us? I would gladly welcome back the previous library without hesitation. No subscription for me.
What a drama, the new library. Uncomfortable, noisy, atmospheric, cold, cluttered.
Everything that made the old library such a nice place is missing here. Would you like to read a magazine with an excellent cup of coffee? Forget it. You can take a seat in the echoing noisy central hall.
It will all be great for the students. But for the elderly and "rest seekers" like me, it is anything but an improvement.
The post office was more suitable as a museum. I am going to cancel my subscription.
Fantastic building. It is a pleasure to read the newspaper in the hall with a nice coffee. Well worth it. Walk around, browse books. Delicious. You hardly get away.
Nicely (modern) refurbished and furnished. Fortunately, the monumental hall has remained intact.
Kept beautifully.
I know the building from earlier work to the attic.
Fortunately, it got a good destination
Just spectacular. A bibliotheek worth of a city like Utrech. Visit even if you're not there for a book, just to look at the main hall.
Beautiful, most of the beautiful details have been preserved and more space for the beautiful library
Great, but I am a tour guide in this building. Nice detail: The building itself does not have a mailbox, as a former post office and is a national monument and therefore a letterbox cannot simply be added. Now temporary solution found outside (see photos)
Top library in a beautiful building, and a nice cafe. An asset to Utrecht!
Nice old building. I like to walk Al the floors after so many year while that wasn't possible. Good thing it has been given back to the people of Utrecht. Renovation is nicely done with respect to it's history. Some details still need a bit TLC. Very nice adosphere for quite studying or reading a newspaper.
I have no words for it, so beautiful and impressive this house has become full of words. With an excellent cappucino at Meneer Potter.
Overwhelmingly beautiful. A very nice place to study.
You must be there at 9 o'clock or you will be late.
Super nice building, lots of space, especially now with the virus .. beautiful study areas, large children's area .. super nice.
Was only my 2nd time at this new location, but so far my impression is very positive.
The set-up is now a lot wider than on the Oudegracht, which is especially nice in this time. Furthermore, the staff is always friendly!
Beautifully housed in a monumental building. Spacious with a bit of 'tightness' in the corona running lines. Loan registration machines may be somewhat larger in number. Overall a pleasant stay here.
Has become beautiful. It's great that the building has been preserved with a social, public function.
Unique building, a former monumental post office with a huge arched central hall that has carved stone statues depicting all the continents, is now converted to the main city library with study facilities. Worth the trip and certainly a go-to place when visiting Utrecht.
