Be sure to allow yourself time to take in the surroundings. It's only days after opening, so not all the stores are open for business nor are all the people movers working. I checked in at United and it was about a 25 minute leisurely walk to board at Gate F. The bathroom stall is deep enough to pull your luggage into, plus a shelf to set down your cellphone and whatever else you are carrying. Hope to visit SLC again soon!

Delta bag drop and TSA/checkpoint were super fast but the rental car return was not. There is a "no right turn sign" when you must turn right... otherwise you end up at the 'commercial entrance'...

Poor food selection. Need more main stream resturaunts. Would kill them to have a subway, taco bell, maybe another mcdonalds in terminal 1 (have just one in terminal 2 and its always crowded). The airport is trying to be high-end food wise, but doesn't realize the average passenger with kids is a grab and go family, not sit down for an hour dining paying $100 for 4 people. Now let me start on the TSA, (THOUSANDS STANDING AROUND) fits SLC to a T. Very slow lines and they never open up all the metal detectors. Don't have a Pre-check line open early in the morning. They should give me a refund for the money the government took so frequent travelers can go through pre-check. Would give zero star rating if it was possible.

This new addition to the airport is a joke. The old airport was just fine. I get yelled at by the airport staff when I pull up to the arrivals area after my spouse has notified me that she has landed and is on her way. After waiting there for a few minutes since you have to walk over a mile and a half from the gate. The airport staff was trying to tell me that I needed to drink all the way around the terminal again because I couldn't wait at the arrivals. I dread everytime I have to deal with this airport anymore.

The airport is very clean and organize but some areas at some gates are small and not enough if we consider the distancing rules to be applied. People are sitting every other seat which is not safe.

Salt Lake City's airport is a clean, efficient operation with much in the way of shops, restaurants, and decorative appeals. It serves as one of Delta Airlines hubs, so travelers to western cities who fly Delta are likely to get routed here first.

This airport is medium in size and gates and other things are clearly marked so you shouldn't have trouble getting where you need to go. Among the extras that I liked are the different decorations. The nature pics alongside the moving sidewalks and the trees between the tables in one of the seating areas are among the many visual extras that add to the airport's appeal.

With food and drink, they have the usual chains, but they also have several local and regional options. As a beer blogger, I was more than pleased to discover that Squatters Brewing has a pub and restaurant here. Many other eateries also grabbed my attention and will definitely be on my list of places to go on my next visit.

One thing I noticed about Salt Lake City airport is that it's prone to getting quite crowded in certain concourses at certain times. One crowd in Concourse C was so large, I decided to not even attempt to walk through until more planes boarded and the crowds cleared. Good thing I had a 2 hour layover and could afford to wait. I wanted to visit Squatters, but didn't want to deal with so many people.

Salt Lake City and Utah in general are popular with travelers. A good airport is necessary to efficiently handle the crowds and what they have here seems up to the task. A few additions and improvements and this could easily become a world class place for tourists and business travelers.

Pro-Tip. Take the Green Line UTA Trax right to the terminal from downtown Salt Lake. It's so convenient. Just make sure you make alternative plans if your flight arrives late at night because Trax does not run 24 hours. Otherwise, the airport has seen some great improvements the last couple of years with much better restaurants and shops. If you don't see an LDS Missionary coming home or leaving, your flight is free.

Why the positive reviews? It takes two seconds within stepping into this airport to see that it's way too small for the volume of connecting and international traffic it supposedly serves. Had a lot of construction going on that delayed our flight taxi in to the gate, I can only hope said construction is actually expanding this small airport.

Our bag was severly damaged on the flight, and items were lost. We weren't notified of this, we just waited around the baggage pickup until no more bags were arriving. We had to search for the baggage office. When we got to the holding room where our damaged bag was held, the Delta employees were going through the top, the damaged part. Good thing we only had toiletries in the top compartment, because everything in there was lost. Very upset with how this was handled and that the employees would go through our things.

The good is that the airport is reasonably maintained and that the concession prices are reasonable. The bad is that the layout means that the same carrier may be spread across several terminals, which can make a person have to make a mad dash to their connecting flight. If they could correct that, it would make traveling through there a better experience.

They help you solve any type of problem. We missed a flight and we were immediately connected to another next flight.

Really miss the old airport. I fly weekly for work and I am so disappointed in the design and functionality of this airport. I was excited for a new airport but now I dread coming here every week. Everything is so far away besides the last few A gates. They have gates that require being bused to the plane- which was never a thing in the old airport. The old design was SO much better and easier to get around. Plus, the new airport is so, very generic... nothing unique or special here.

No water fountains to refill water bottles .
No charging stations.
And none of the food places accepted the food voucher I was given.
My flight was delayed 5 hours and they never updated us on what was happening.
Overall just very disappointed.

I'm not happy with Delta at SLC airport, my son has been stuck there from 9a.m. this morning cause he missed his flight, it's sad how no one would help him get from one place to the other, he has only flown once and it was not a good flight for him. I called and talked to Karen with Delta and she said that a superviser would check on him and of course no one did. He still has three more hours to wait for the flight out to Bozeman. NEVER WILL WE FLY DELTA AGAIN. We are not bashing the airport, just very disappointed in Delta again. June 28, 2016

What I appreciate the most is that you don t have to walk through an entire department store to get to your gate. I loath that at other airports. I see that they are building a new terminal, I hope they don t ruin it.

Waiting for the new and improved airport to give more than 3 Stars. Always has plenty of room. Could have more eating places but that is most airports. I have never had any major Delays (over 20 min). With the upgraded first phase of the airport coming in the next year or so looking forward to what it will have. Then there is another phase coming. Always hate the Passenger and Drop off area to small but that will change soon. I love Delta glad it is a hub just wish they would have more direct flights to Hi and other country's.

The new terminal is a really beautiful building and state of the art. However, at this early stage of opening, it is quite the hike from the new TSA to the F & G gates. Some of the moving side walks were also under repair which made the longer walk a little slower. Allow some extra time to get to your gate.

When the airport is fully operational with the older gates being removed and replaced, I will be happy to upgrade from 4 stars to 5 stars.

Women's toilets in last restroom nearest C13 splash horribly when flushed. I do NOT want public toilet water on me!! The toilet seats were all wet. I thought someone did that, until I discovered it was the toilets.
The rest of the airport including the staff, were great! The 1 star rating is strictly because of the restroom.

Lots of new amenities sadly no odd people collecting at bars to keep you busy. Gate numbering is puzzleing at a minimum. Currently there is major construction so some B gates lead you to a bus that takes you to a plane to taxi to a runway. But on day it will be great.

About Salt Lake City Airport Authority

Salt Lake City Airport Authority: A Comprehensive Guide to the New SLC Airport

Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is one of the busiest airports in the United States, serving more than 26 million passengers annually. The airport is operated by Salt Lake City Airport Authority, a government agency responsible for managing and maintaining the airport's facilities and services.

In September 2020, Salt Lake City International Airport opened its new terminal complex, which replaced the old terminals that had been in use since the 1960s. The new SLC airport is a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet modern aviation standards while providing an exceptional passenger experience.

The New SLC Terminal Complex

The new terminal complex at SLC covers an area of over 2 million square feet and features two linear concourses with a total of 78 gates. The concourses are connected by a central terminal building that houses security checkpoints, baggage claim areas, and various retail and dining options.

One of the most notable features of the new SLC airport is its flexible design. The airport was designed to be adaptable to changing operational needs and passenger volumes. This means that as air travel evolves over time, so too can the facilities at SLC.

Sustainability was also a key consideration in designing the new terminal complex. The airport has implemented numerous environmentally friendly features such as energy-efficient lighting systems, water-saving fixtures, and solar panels on parking structures.

Passenger Experience

The primary goal of Salt Lake City Airport Authority when designing the new terminal complex was to provide passengers with an exceptional travel experience from start to finish. To achieve this goal, they focused on several key areas:

Check-In: Passengers can check-in for their flights using self-service kiosks or with assistance from airline staff at traditional check-in counters.

Security: Security checkpoints are located throughout each concourse to minimize wait times for passengers. TSA PreCheck lanes are also available for eligible travelers.

Retail & Dining: There are over 50 retail shops and restaurants located throughout both concourses offering everything from grab-and-go snacks to sit-down meals from local chefs.

Amenities: In addition to traditional amenities like restrooms and charging stations, there are several unique amenities available at SLC such as pet relief areas and nursing rooms for mothers traveling with infants.

Accessibility: All areas of the airport have been designed with accessibility in mind including wheelchair ramps throughout all levels of both concourses.

Conclusion

Salt Lake City International Airport's new terminal complex represents a significant investment in modernizing one of America's busiest airports while providing passengers with an exceptional travel experience. With its flexible design approach that prioritizes sustainability without sacrificing functionality or convenience for travelers passing through it every day - it’s no wonder why this facility has become so popular among frequent flyers!
