Understaffed ...Has a beautiful veneer with a ugly underbelly. After all the savings were burned through, then the nastiness really came through. The telephone would be on the floor, one day was told the phone was under the mattress?!, or most of the time it was out of reach. For three days in a row, Mom could only hear a few words. Called back the unit clerk to ask if the hearing aids needed new batteries. As I am on the phone with her she laughs and says "Oh, she's trying to get out the door. She says she needs to get to Erie Audiology to get the hearing aids fixed." I asked "Who are you talking about?" She laughs and says "Your Mother!" I called Erie Audiology after that. Mom had a very large deposit of wax in the ears and the aids were not maintained properly. Another example of nasty is for Mother's Day I sent from an established Erie florist a red, white , and pink high end bouquet with an accompanying festive balloon. My sister and brother-in -law were there in person. The flowers were delivered Thursday afternoon. They arrived on Saturday morning to visit. I called prepared to hear how gorgeous the bouquet was. My sister gave me instead a tongue lashing about how Mom could fall on the dead petals all over the floor. I asked "What are you talking about?" She told me to stop sending flowers (I would do a bouquet once a week to Mom.) I asked if there was a balloon--no balloon! Alright...I ask her "Exactly what color are these flowers?" She replies"Purple!!" Called and complained to admin...they put the ball in the florist's court. Called the florist who has been in business for decades. They couldn't believe the home would be that tacky, Ordered and paid for a duplicate bouquet and balloon and had it delivered as soon as possible...Monday, so Mom would at least have something.
At the end she died with MRSA, one urinary tract infection after another to the point of hallucinating from the sepsis, and as a special touch...pneumonia...AND 84 pounds! Her stay there was the worst days of my life.

My grandma is a resident here. We visit at least once a week. I'd like to say this facility is 5 star based on its appearance. It is a nice looking facility for sure. The staff is, for the most part, very friendly. My children are always swooned over and given snacks and juice which is lovely. My grandma is completely blind but alert and oriented most of the time. Sometimes she tells me it takes almost an hour for someone to answer her call bell. There has been several occasions that she has been incontinent of stool because she has had to wait so long for someone to come. She has even said there was only 2 aides for an evening shift and that was why they said it took so long to get to her. She even said she was yelling out for help. That is unacceptable. For the overwelmingly high price she pays to be here she shouldn't have that happen. I am glad she has a private room but it is arranged so strange that when she goes by her bed she pinches her fingers every time because the walkway is only wide enough for her to get her walker through and that's it. She frequently has had personal items disappear never to be seen again like her hairdryer, shampoo and conditioner bottles, small amounts of cash on occasion, and candy. I also wish they would always leave her call bell in reach (she has had multiple falls)and her phone in her reach so she would be able to answer when we call.

My wife and I are in the process of moving to the Carriage Homes at Asbury Ridge. We are relocating from Virginia which makes the move potentially difficult. However, we found the facilities to be excellent and the staff courteous and very professional. The staff has been extremely helpful beyond what one has a right to expect and I am confident that this quality of assistance will also be present after we are settled.

The facility is clean, and the staff is very nice - there just aren t enough of them. My mother was there for 9 months and did little else except sit in a wheelchair during the day and lay in bed at night. She was supposed to walk with her walker twice a day - that didn t happen. She s diabetic - they NEVER checked her blood glucose. They left her on the toilet too long - sometimes over an hour. They even told her not to use the bathroom at mealtime because they were too busy! We got her back home with home health aides - she is much happier, and it costs less, too. I reported them to CMS (Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services) who investigated and sent a full report of their findings and the facilities plan of corrections. If you ve also experienced the poor care there, report it to CMS - it s online and easy to navigate. Bad reviews only go so far - hit them with federal complaints to get their attention. You will pay top dollar there and should receive the finest care, but until things change you will not. My advice - look elsewhere for your loved ones, or consider home health care.
