The food is great but the desserts are truly excellent. The homemade ice cream and the baklava should not be missed! The atmosphere is casual, the prices are reasonable, the staff are friendly, and the food is delicious.

I am an Iranian/American and eat Iranian food every day since my wife is a very good Iranian dish cook. I have also tried different iranian restaurants in different cities. Saffron is a nice and clean place and conveniently located in downtown Louisville. I was in Louisville for business and looked up their lunch menu on their website and found the prices verry affordable. For example the kabab with rice was $8:50 and for $1 more you could replace half of the rice with salad. Good deal. When I arrived I waited for a while before a server .noticed me while there were several available tables. Once I got the lunch menu I noticed that the food I was going to eat was $11 rather than $8:50 which was on their online menu. Plus I had to pay $2 to replace half of rice with salad. When I mentioned that to Mr. Reza, the owner he gave me an excuse which was unacceptable. But I did not go further on that subject.
The kabob was just OK and did not taste or smell like the authentic Iranian Kabob and was a bit dry while the inside of some of the pieces were red. But the Shrazi salad was good. The grilled vegetables were a little overdone. Finally I was charged $13 instead of $9.50. So, if you are cost conscious, please check the menu before you are seated.
Hope this is helpfull.

The food here is damn good (from a guy who has never tried Persian food) the atmosphere leaves a little wanting BUT don't be fooled by its unassuming exterior (or interior) the food is worth the price of admission.

Loved it! Food was amazing and service was excellent. We had the rack of lamb, the eggplant and a Greek salad - and finished with baklava and the specialty ice cream. Everything was wonderful and the whole evening was most enjoyable. Highly recommended.

This place has excellent food and service. I had the chicken kabobs, which were outstanding. The baklava and the ice cream were very good also. The ice cream was homemade and had a very unique flavor, but really good. If you're looking for something a little different, but very tasty, try this place.

Was in the mood for something a little different... Saffron more than delivered! Husband had lamb and said it was the best he'd had. Ever. I enjoyed chicken and steak kabobs. Delish. I Highly recommend this little restaurant.

Best lamb in louisville! Everything in their menu was good. We started with the quail and followed with the lamb. Victor was our server and was very helpful in explaining everything. Loved the food. Great atmosphere. Totally recommend!

I went there on a Sunday for lunch. I was the first and only cutomer at the time. I ordered vegetarian Fesenjoon. They served the dish when I touched it, all the grilled vegetables were cold. they took it back. and brought me a salad while I waited, the tomato was at least cut a day earlier. the dish came back that was warmer, but not fresh tasting. freshly grilled vegetables taste differently. the rice was substandard. The name of the resturant is Saffron, but ironically they did not use real saffron in making the rice. the table spoon of yellow rice they put on the pile of cheap grain white rice, was colored yellow with food color and a pinch of artificial saffron flavor. It was not a good experience. I paid 17 dollars for a dish that was not fresh nor was it any good. they provded cheapest quality of pita bread that is neither Persian nor good. It is a cheap restaurant selling ordinary quality food and charge a high end restaurant price.

Very friendly staff with some delicious Persian options and great specials. Flavors were well-balanced and was particularly impressed with their homemade ice cream: saffron-vanilla with rosewater and pistachios. Perhaps not for everyone, but I thought all flavors were very well represented with a smooth creamy texture.

Fantastic restaurant. The food is amazing. My dining partner vouched for the authenticity of the cuisine and everything was really delicious. I got the special (duck) and a glass of Shiraz - absolute perfection.

Worst service of my dining experiences. Had to call from the lobby to get seated after waiting 20 minutes. The waiter forgot parts of our order and wouldn't help when there was an allergic reaction to an ingredient in one of the dishes. Use to be a regular here, but this place has gone to the dumps. Dine at your own risk and don't say I didn't warn you.

Here on business. Great service. However, Food is not very good. It s VERY bland and the veggies taste like they are from the can. If you want fresh ingredients, or never frozen, this isn t for you. This may be the least flavorful Persian food I ve ever had. I won t be back.

I visit this restaurant on July 3rd, 2018 first and last visit for sure. I would only say that I would give 5 stars for the server because she was very nice other than that there's nothing good about the food. We waited over 40 minutes for the food to arrive, when we looked at it the meat was dry and over cooked, the vegetables were burned. The server was very nice she tried hard to fix what the people in the kitchen causing wait time but, the chief appeared in the dining room to greet some people he knows and our food was still not even served yet. Another customer also complained about the waiting time. The dining room need renovation though, the ceiling might fall over people's heads soon.

Stumbled upon this unassuming place and was very pleasantly surprised by every aspect. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful and set the entire event off well by being consistent and straightforward. Every thing my party of four ordered was delicious. They brought us a complimentary pallet appetizer, then we had the herb rice balls which were delicious. We followed that up with the rack of lamb, seafood stew, and vegetable curry. All of which were very tasty and served quickly. Finally, our table was given a complimentary dessert of rose water, saffron, and pistachio ice cream. At first the taste was a little out there, but by the end I was wishing we had more. Don't walk by this place without giving it a try!

I live in the DC Metro area and there are some very good Persian restaurants there and someone told me to give Saffron a try for lunch. Ate the chicken kebab special and thought the chicken was good but was a tad dry yet flavorful. The rice was a tad dry as well but loved the dill seasoning. However, the bread was pre-made and wasn't very good. I'll probably go back if I need a change of pace from national chains like Panera, Qdoba and Potbelly's.

Food was less than average since i tried many other persian restaurants. I was charged $8 just to share a meal although the meal was not split, instead they brought me empty plate for me to do it!!
Very rude server. For sure i am not going back and i don't recommend it.

Good atmosphere, sultani was good but not awesome, as a persian I recommend to visit this restaurant, also they had a good service and menus has a variety of persian foods. I realized they have a party room as well so you can have this option to hold your party here. Other good thing about that is location, it's in downtown lousville and they have a drink option as well.
Their price is moderate, density of chairs and tables are good.
It was clean salon and restroom, they playing good persiam music (not live) , in total everything is good but not awesome
