Safe Space: Providing Free Counselling Support for Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
Safe Space is a non-profit organization that provides free counselling support for survivors of childhood sexual abuse in Dunfermline, Fife and outreach areas. The organization was founded with the aim of creating a safe and supportive environment where survivors can receive the help they need to heal from their traumatic experiences.
At Safe Space, we understand that childhood sexual abuse can have long-lasting effects on an individual's mental health and well-being. Survivors may experience feelings of shame, guilt, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These feelings can be overwhelming and may prevent them from seeking help.
Our team of experienced counsellors is dedicated to providing a safe space where survivors can share their experiences without fear of judgment or shame. We offer one-to-one counselling sessions that are tailored to meet the unique needs of each survivor. Our counsellors use evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and person-centered therapy.
We believe that every survivor deserves access to quality mental health care regardless of their financial situation. That's why our services are completely free-of-charge. We rely on donations from individuals, organizations, and businesses in our community to fund our operations.
In addition to one-to-one counselling sessions, we also offer group therapy sessions where survivors can connect with others who have had similar experiences. Group therapy provides a supportive environment where individuals can share their stories with others who understand what they're going through.
At Safe Space, we prioritize confidentiality and privacy. All information shared during counselling sessions is kept strictly confidential unless there is an immediate risk of harm to the client or someone else.
We also provide outreach services for survivors who are unable to travel to our main office in Dunfermline. Our outreach services include telephone counselling and online counselling sessions.
Our team of counsellors is highly trained and experienced in working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse. We understand the unique challenges that survivors face and are committed to providing compassionate care that promotes healing and recovery.
