My dad was at St. Joes for a couple of weeks post amputation through the Christmas holidays. We were very pleased with the kindness of the staff and cleanliness of the facilities. Thank you to everyone at St. Joseph s of the pines. Highly recommend

My mother was very happy at St. Joseph's. She came to the rehab unit from the hospital and was very ill. Mom did very well working with the rehab staff. She was able to move to the skilled nursing facility (850 Hall) and was under the care of hospice. Within a coiuple of months, Mom improved so much she no longer was under Hospice care. The nursing staff, nursing assistants, physical therapy, housekeeping and dining staff all contributed to her improvement. Mom was there for three years before peacefully passing away at 96 years of age. The staff made a valuable contribution to her quality of life. She could not have been in a better care setting.

Finding a nursing home is always a stressful experience. I am my sister's guardian. She is a severely brain injured person form a car accident 35 years ago. So I have extensive knowledge of nursing homes. I moved my sister to St Joseph's from Connecticut over a year ago. I investigated many nursing facilities without much success. That is until I found St Joseph's. From the moment I walked into St Joe's it was clearly different. The first thing I noticed was it's cleanliness compared to other facilities. Then I had the opportunity to meet administrators, nurses and very importantly the nursing aides. I was impressed with how they cared about my sister's situation. My family made the decision to move her to St Joseph's and we have never regretted it even though we have an hour commute to visit. It is worth it because of the care she receives. Everyone is responsive to my questions and concerns. As Catholics we are also thrilled that the Eucharist resides in the Chapel. Now nothing is perfect particularly at a nursing home. However St Joe's willingness to respond to situations that arise, their desire to care and their organization sets them apart in a very difficult business.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would! My grandmother was placed into St. Joseph of the Pines for short-term rehab and she needs an oxygen machine to breathe. The first (and only) night she was in St. Joseph of the Pines, there was a power outage and it knocked out my grandmother s oxygen machine. Nobody in the facility bothered to get the machine working again and my grandmother almost died!

If that s not enough, my grandmother was also placed in the wrong section of St. Joseph of the Pines. She was put in the nursing home section, not the rehab section, and they didn t bother to tell anyone about that either until after the fact. The people at St. Joseph of the Pines obviously do not care about the people within their walls! I would not even recommend this place to an enemy.

EVERY SINGLE DAY I tried to call my grandmother's nurses station, just to ask her nurse if she was having a good day, and check to make sure she wasn't sleeping before calling her room directly to speak with her. No one answered the phone. There was no operator. I would have to press a number for every hall, until I reached whomever would answer. This has been going on for about three weeks now, and today a nurse hung up on me, which prompted this: my first Google review.

To make things grotesquely worse, on the occasions my grandmother was well enough to speak to me, after our conversations concluded I would have to listen to her scream helplessly for a nurse for minutes that felt like hours - because she could not reach the receiver to hang up the phone. Just awful.

St Joseph of the Pines is made up of several very different properties.

Belle Meade is an independent resort-style community where residents live in an apartment (some over 2,000 sq feet) or can live in a home or duplex. Some of these homes are quite large with a double garage. There is a saltwater swimming pool, three dining areas and classes and concerts are held at Belle Meade. A large number of residents play bridge, Mahjong and are avid golfers.

Pine Knoll is another property which houses independent folks in either apartments or cottages.

The Coventry is a separate facility for people who need assistance with daily tasks. This building is staffed with CNAs and nurses.

Another facility is available for those who need skilled nursing and is set up somewhat like a hospital wing.

St Joseph of the Pines is the overall umbrella but people think SJP does the same thing in all of their properties. So when someone makes a negative review, the reader may not know which property is getting the review.

This is undoubtedly the absolute WORST nursing care in their rehab unit (100 hall) that I have ever witnessed. I actually feel they should be cited for their deficiencies which are too many to enumerate here. Rooms and furniture and equipment are in shabby condition. The only hardworking and responsible individuals on the unit is Becca, the physical therapist and Beth Price, the social worker. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this rehab facility for a loved one! .

Don't trust St. Joe's. It is a den of thieves and liars. Stole my father's hearing aids, phone and reading glasses. Filed a complaint that went no where and items were not recovered. HR acknowledged they have a culture of theft and can't fix it. Send relatives here at their peril!!!
