The second program is a six-month certificate course in Sustainable Agriculture (SA) which targets smallholder farmers, extension workers, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector.

The Bachelor’s degree program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of sustainable agriculture practices, agribusiness management, and entrepreneurship. Students are exposed to both theoretical and practical aspects of agriculture through classroom lectures, field trips, internships on commercial farms as well as hands-on experience at RICA's demonstration farm.

The certificate course in Sustainable Agriculture is designed for smallholder farmers who want to improve their farming practices. The course covers topics such as soil fertility management; crop production; livestock management; pest control; post-harvest handling among others. Participants also learn about market access opportunities for their produce.

RICA has state-of-the-art facilities that include modern classrooms equipped with audio-visual equipment, computer labs with internet connectivity, a library stocked with relevant books and journals on agriculture-related topics among others. The institute also has a 250-hectare demonstration farm where students can practice what they have learned in class under the guidance of experienced instructors.
